The Brazilian city of Mogi das Cruzes is one of the oldest and with great historical and cultural importance for Brazilians.
Mogi das Cruzes began as a village, around 1560, serving as a resting point for pioneers and explorers coming and going from São Paulo, among them Brás Cubas. Gaspar Vaz Guedes was responsible for opening the first road between the capital and Mogi, starting the village, later elevated to Vila, with the name Vila de Sant'Ana de Mogi Mirim.[11] The fact was made official on September 1, 1611. On March 13, 1865 it was elevated to the city, and on April 14, 1874 to the district.
According to historian Isaac Grinberg, the pioneer Gaspar Vaz, in addition to being responsible for opening and clearing these lands, after acquiring a sesmaria in the region, was also responsible for the request to elevate the village to a village. A fact that took place in 1611, on the first of September.
Mogi das Cruzes hosts colonies from all corners of the world, with a special emphasis on the Japanese colonization, with a large number of Japanese and their descendants (approximately 20% according to the prefecture), who are already in their third generation in the municipality. FEIRA in BRAZIL - Street Market | Mogi das Cruzes, CITY PARK
In this video, we'll be showing you two different street markets, they are quite popular here in BRAZIL. These markets are really a farmers market with anything from fresh fish and meats to fresh fruits and vegetables. They also cater for small food stalls where can normally buy traditional brazilian foods like pastel(savoury filled pastry), and pair it with a delicious Caldo de Cana(sugar cane juice).
We'll also be showing you the beautiful city park here in Mogi das Cruzes, where we have our daily walks to keep active.

Nesse vídeo vamos falar dos bairros que são considerados perigosos na capital maranhense é que a população evita de ir devido ao alto índice de criminalidade e tráfico de drogas!
São Luís, como qualquer cidade grande, tem seus desafios em relação à segurança pública. Embora seja importante reconhecer que a segurança é uma preocupação em várias áreas urbanas, é fundamental tomar precauções adequadas para garantir a segurança pessoal.
São Luís tem enfrentado desafios relacionados à criminalidade, como assaltos, furtos e roubos, especialmente em algumas áreas consideradas mais vulneráveis. Alguns bairros, como Cidade Operária, Coroadinho, João de Deus e Anjo da Guarda, têm sido mencionados em relação a altos índices de criminalidade. Welcome to the safest and cleanest city I've seen in Brazil. Translated from Portuguese Cascavel means rattlesnake because long time ago it was discovered having many rattlesnakes, but you don't need to worry about rattlesnakes anymore because this city has good infrastructure.
Centro has a long main road with the other end going to the municipal lake.
It's not too hot and humid. It's cooler than Foz. Cascavel has welcoming people without many tourists. It doesn't have many foreign visitors but it's known to have Bolivians and Argentineans. On several occasions, a local asked me if I'm from Bolivia. Somebody said that they go to Cascavel to study, then stay to work.
Cost of living is similar to that of Foz de Iguacu and it's downtown has several all-you-can eat buffets starting from R$11. That's the cheapest I've ever seen for a buffet in Brazil.
As you can see in the video, the median of the road has a dedicated bike and walking path. You can see people there all hours of the day including late night so to show, it's is safe.
The area near the cathedral is very popular at night because some restaurants stay open and play music to bring in the crowds. This is where I recommend staying and it's also an area with more airbnb options.
Just look for the cathedral Nossa Senhora and across the street you will see the travessa for hanging out.
However this is not the main nightlife area which is 9 blocks west from here.
Even though you can hangout here, if you want to meet people it's better to go between the street Osvaldo Cruz and Manoel Ribas.
The venues here play rock, electronica, funk and a mix. Most of them have a cover charge and in this town it's better to go before midnight, because it's not a crazy city.

Oswaldo Cruz Foundation was created on May 25, 1900. It was first called Serum Therapeutic Institute. Initially the objective was produce serums and vaccines against the plague. After the designation of Oswaldo Cruz as director in 1902, the institution expanded its activities and became involved in research and experimental medicine
The foundation became the base for Oswaldo Cruz’s famous sanitation campaigns in Rio de Janeiro. That time the city suffered with epidemics of bubonic plague, yellow fever and smallpox. After bypass the critical situation in Rio, the foundation made scientific agreement that played a decisive role in the occupation of the interior of the country. In response to requests from the government, the institute laid the foundations to the establishment of the National Department of Public Health in 1920.
After the revolution of 1930, the Institute was transferred to the newly created Ministry of Education and Public Health. Although it received more federal resources, the institute lost autonomy and became more vulnerable to external political interference. The 1960s and 1970s were marked by political turmoil during the years of the military dictatorial regime (1964 - 1985). In 1970 the institution suffered a violent blow with the so-called “Massacre of Manguinhos”, when renowned researchers from the Institute lost their political rights and were forced into retirement.
Fiocruz underwent profound changes in the 1980’s. In 1985, the sanitarian Sergio Arouca, took over the Foundation’s presidency. He recreated programs and structures. During Arouca’s administration, the milestone of the modern history of Fiocruz took place: the first Internal Congress that was the first democratic experience for many workers. In the following years, Fiocruz advanced not only in terms of its management, but also in the scientific area. In October 1987, a group of scientists of the institution succeeded in isolating HIV for the first time in Latin America.
The centennial Foundation took its first steps into the 21st century in a solid way and had its Statute published. The period was also marked by important scientific progresses: institution’s researchers have decoded the genome of BCG, a bacterium used in Brazil in the vaccination against tuberculosis. The work initiated by Oswaldo Cruz in Rio continued to expand, by opening new units at Mato Grosso do Sul and Mozambique, in Africa.
More than one century after the creation of the Serum Therapeutic Institute, the region is no longer surrounded by the mangroves. The serenity of seagulls and canoes gave way to the heavy traffic of the Avenida Brasil street that cuts through the landfill where used to stay the mangrove. However, Fiocruz remains high up on the hill, solid and imposing, doing justice to its history.

The present movie is a kind of remake or a sequence of the previous one published. In that case it should be named “Carlos & Olga II”. Actually, I named it “o outro lado do rio” (the other side of rio (river)). The following remarks may explain this title.
In addition to the material already shown before, there was a separate small reel documenting Pisti and Olga's honeymoon filmed in color. Unfortunately , time was cruel to this particular film wearing off the celluloid in many parts.
However, I had found a black and white movie documenting Rio filmed in 1948. Pisti had been there after attending a prestigious medical congress where he was invited to present his doctorate thesis. This film had two parts. In the first some buildings are shown, the first among them the Osvaldo Cruz Institute (Manguinhos) with its moresque façade where high level of biomedical research is undertaken since the nineteeth century. The second part is a poetic view of the Paquetá island. Pisti must have fallen in love with the place and its community. He appears to be longing for a love affair which would include marriage and children. The sequences are all very beautiful. He took his new wife there perhaps to make come true what he longed for around there three years before. Therefore, I decided to edit the old film together with the spared sequences of the color film. I hope the result is satisfactory. Pisti was a real talented film maker in my opinion. It is a pleasure to explore and bring back all these images. The second part's song named “o grande amor” means “the great love”. The lyrics were written by Vinícius de Moraes our most beloved Brazilian poet.
