In July 2018 I visited Magdeburg, the capital city of the Saxony –Anhalt region in Germany. It is situated on the Elbe River. The city was given the nickname City of Otto in honor of two famous Ottos who had played an important role in the city's history - Otto the Great and Otto von Guericke.

ℹ️ FREIES FAHREN
Mit dem eigenen Auto auf der nördlichsten Rennstrecke Deutschlands fahren: Tan Caglar probiert es aus und nimmt mit seinem Sportwagen, einer Corvette C8, am sogenannten „Arena Training“ teil. ???? Das müsst ihr beachten, wenn ihr mit eurem PKW teilnehmen wollt????:
1. Taxifahrten / Beifahrer sind nicht erlaubt.
2. Es besteht Helmpflicht.
3. Die Teilnahme ist nur mit einem straßenzugelassenen PKW möglich.
4. Bei Teilnahme sollte die Abschleppöse bereits montiert sein.
5. Es werden maximal 35 Teilnehmer pro Turn zugelassen.
6. Es sind keine E-Fahrzeuge erlaubt.
7. Fünf Tage vor dem Training muss eine schriftliche Nennung vorliegen.

Nach dem Training geht es für Tan und Bernd zur #Ostalgie Kantine Im Klubhaus der Werktätigen Ernst Thälmann in Oschersleben. ????️ Die Kantine ist nur fünf Autominuten von der Motorsport Arena entfernt. ⌚ Hier probieren sich die beiden durch die Speisekarte und testen typische Gerichte der DDR-Küche. ???? Mittagessen bekommt ihr von 11 Uhr bis 13 Uhr.
Außerdem lockt eine große Ausstellung mit DDR-Fahrzeugen sowie zahlreichen Relikten aus DDR-Zeiten. ➡️
ℹ️ KART FAHREN
Zurück in der Motorsport Arena Oschersleben geht es für Tan und Bernd auf die Kartbahn. ????️ Während der Saison von April bis September ist die Bahn für eigene Karts und Leihkarts geöffnet.????️ Wer teilnehmen will, muss mindestens 1,50 m groß sein und lange Kleidung sowie festes Schuhwerk mitbringen. ???? Es besteht Helmpflicht. ⛑️ Bitte meldet euch eine Woche vor eurem Wunschtermin an. ➡️

Tan und Bernd schauen hinter die Kulissen der Rennbahn. Bei einer Führung gibt es Einblicke in Boxengasse, Race Tower, Medical Center, VIP-Lounges und Hotel. ????️ Die Tour dauert ein bis zwei Stunden und findet ab einer Gruppengröße von 10 Personen statt. ???? Der Preis pro Person beträgt zehn Euro. Am Wochenende sind Führungen nur auf Anfrage und gegen Aufpreis möglich. ➡️

Magdeburg is a central German city on the Elbe River. In the city center, the Gothic-style Magdeburg Cathedral is the burial place of the Holy Roman emperor Otto the Great. The Museum of Cultural History details the city’s medieval importance with exhibitions on archaeology and local history. Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen, a Romanesque monastery complex, is home to a contemporary art gallery and sculpture park.
One of the oldest cities in Germany’s eastern federal states, Magdeburg is 1,200 years old and was once a member of the Hanseatic League of merchant cities. In the 10th century Magdeburg was the residence of Holy Roman Emperor Otto I, and his tomb is in the astonishing cathedral. That monument was the first example of Gothic architecture in Germany and warrants as much as half a day if you love Medieval art.
Magdeburg is also the country’s second greenest city and even though it has been repeatedly visited by war it has been carefully rebuilt every time. Today, Magdeburg has modern wonders like a 60-metre wooden tower built for the millennium, the final project by architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Europe’s largest canal underbridge.
Magdeburg cathedral’s present appearance dates to the 13th century when the worldly Prince Archbishop, Albert I of Käfernburg adopted the new French Gothic style. Kloster Unser Lieben Frauen is an 11th-century Romanesque monastery is the rousing backdrop for a contemporary art museum.
Jahrtausendturm is a shaped like an irregular cone, this edifice in the Elbauenpark was built for the new millennium and at 60 metres high is one of the tallest wooden buildings in the world. Rotehorn Park is the largest park in the city takes up most of the Werder river island on the Elbe and is billed as one of Germany’s loveliest English landscape parks.
Funded by the city’s merchants around the 10th century, the Johanniskirche is no longer a consecrated church, and is instead used as a concert hall, museum and convention centre. Grüne Zitadelle von Magdeburg, The Green Citadel is the work of the rebellious Friedensreich Hundertwasser and was his final project before he passed away in 2000. Making liberal use of colourful ceramic tiles, the complex is a mixed-use development home to shops, a cafe, a restaurant, a theatre, hotel, children’s playground and residential space.
The Magdeburg Water Bridge had been in the pipeline for more than a century, but plans were scrapped because of war and Germany’s division. Between Breiter Weg and Jakobstraße, the city’s marketplace has existed since the time of Bishop Wichmann von Seeburg in the 12th century.
Also on east side of Alter Markt, just in front of the town hall is a statue in place since at least 1240. The equestrian sculpture is believed to represent Otto I, who is buried at Magdeburg cathedral. The Magdeburger Reiter is presented in the Kaiser-Otto-Saal in its original un-gilded form.
The Faunenbrunnem is a fountain designed by the Magdeburg sculptor Heinrich Apel, who crafted the model in 1976, ten years before it was cast in Lauchhammer and Rostock. On the right bank of the Elbe is a park that has been attracting guests since the 17th century when an inn, called the Herrenkrug was built by the river.
In parkland on the Elbe is an octagonal defensive tower more than 20 metres high and dating to the 13th century. The city’s zoo opened in 1950 and since reunification has been given a host of updates. The Elberadweg is almost 1,000 kilometres long, and starts in Prague, ending at the Elbe’s mouth in Cuxhaven on the North Sea.

Hello, today's tour is in Quedlinburg town in Germany. One of the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval towns in Germany. Charming town with more than 1,300 unique half-timbered houses, amazing narrow cobblestone streets, fascinating colorful buildings, nice squares and rests below a sandstone cliff that has an abbey and palace on top. Quedlinburg is one of the most beautiful places I have visited in Germany. Every time I visit it, I find it more beautiful than before. Walking in old town of Quedlinburg is like making tour during the medieval ages. It takes you back in time and making you enjoy every single detail.
In this tour, you will enjoy the beauty of Quedlinburg as you are there yourself. We walk through the old town, exploring its streets and buildings With the a huge amount of original half-timbered houses, you’ll feel like you’ve gone back in time and there are always new buildings to admire as you walk around. We will visit the Marktplatz and look around to see the gorgeous buildings surrounding it. The town hall (Rathaus), this stone building in Gothic style which dates back to about 1300. The Marktkirche St. Benedikti (Market Church Of St Benedict), a beautiful building that have been consecrated during the 12th century. The Castle Hill (Schlossberg) with the Schlossmuseum which can be the first attraction you’ll hit here when walking from Marktplatz. The Stiftskirche St. Servatius (Collegiate Church), it was founded in 936 after Henry I died and his widow, Queen Mathilde, requested it in his honour.
Actually, every single detail in this charming town has its own beauty. The castle, church and old town, were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994 because of their exceptional preservation and outstanding Romanesque architecture.

Magdeburg is the capital city of the Bundesland of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, it is situated on the River Elbe and was one of the most important medieval cities of Europe.
