Opwijk is een plaats en gemeente in de Belgische provincie Vlaams-Brabant. De gemeente ligt in het noordwesten van de provincie en vormt sinds 1977 een fusiegemeente met Mazenzele. Elk jaar gaat in Opwijk de Sint-Paulusprocessie door.

Leuven: bierhoofdstad van België 30-12-2019
De stad Leuven ligt centraal in België, in de provincie Vlaams-Brabant. Leuven is met ongeveer honderdduizend inwoners een middelgrote stad in België. Het ligt op ruim dertig kilometer van de Belgische hoofdstad Brussel. Leuven heeft de bijnaam ‘Bierhoofdstad van België”. Deze naam is gebaseerd op een tweetal elementen: de aanwezigheid van de Artois-brouwerij (tegenwoordig Anheuser-Busch InBev) en de vele studenten die in Leuven studeren aan de KU Leuven of andere scholen. Het bier vloeit rijkelijk binnen het studentenleven. Vooral op de Oude Markt worden er wekelijks heel wat glaasjes Stella Artois en andere bieren weggetapt. Als bezoeker kom je terecht in een dynamische, jonge stad waar altijd wel iets te beleven valt. Diverse festivals, feesten en andere evenementen staan op de jaarlijkse kalender. In de zomermaanden vallen deze samen onder Het Groot Verlof. Als er niets georganiseerd wordt kun je in Leuven heerlijk winkelen, genieten van heerlijke spijzen en dranken, fietstochten maken of de bezienswaardigheden van de stad ontdekken. Niet voor niets dat Leuven steevast een hoge positie heeft in de top 10 van best bezochte Belgische steden.

In the summer months, these come together under the umbrella of the Great Holiday. Mechelen ligt pal tussen (en dichtbij) Antwerpen en Brussel,aan de rivier de Dijle en is dus ideaal als uitvalsbasis voor allebei: 20 minuten sporen en je bent er. De stad heeft een lange geschiedenis, maar heeft veel meer te bieden dan alleen traditie. De Financial Times noemde Mechelen een van de 10 Europese steden van de toekomst. Die eer hebben we te danken aan onze vele jonge, goed opgeleide inwoners. En wist je dat er gratis wifi is voor iedereen? Overal!

Op wandel door Dendermonde
Dendermonde is een stad in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De stad ligt in de driehoek Gent-Brussel-Antwerpen, een van de meest verstedelijkte gebieden van het land. Het is de hoofdplaats van het arrondissement Dendermonde en ligt in de Denderstreek. Alle 10 jaar gaat het Ros Beiaard uit in deze stad. In 2020 is het spijtig genoeg niet kunnen doorgaan door de Coronacrisis.

Oostende is een stad in de Belgische provincie West-Vlaanderen, die ongeveer centraal langs de Belgische kust ligt. De stad is een belangrijk toeristisch en economisch centrum, beschikt over een zee- en luchthaven en is het centrum van het gelijknamige arrondissement.
Oostende is de enige stad van de Belgische kust. Oostende ligt redelijk centraal aan de nog geen zeventig kilometer lange kust, waardoor het binnen de kuststrook een belangrijke regionale functie heeft. Oostende is bovenal ook ene belangrijke badplaats. De stranden van Oostende trekken jaarlijks vele toeristen naar de kust. Het gros hiervan is afkomstig uit België. Er zijn echter ook altijd wel wat Nederlanders te vinden. Buitenlandse toeristen combineren een stadsbezoek aan Brugge vaak met een of meerdere dagen Oostende als het zomer is. Omdat Oostende naast een kustplaats ook en stad is met alle bijbehorende voorzieningen is de plaats iedere maand van het jaar geschikt om te bezoeken. Wie Oostende bezoekt die kan de stad altijd nog gebruiken als uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan Brugge. Deze historische stad ligt op nog geen half uur rijden van Oostende. Wie met het openbaar vervoer wil gaan die kan per met de trein naar Brugge reizen.

Berlare : aan het Donkmeer
Deze namiddag maakten we een uitstapje naar het Donkmeer in Berlare.
Er was daar juist een Food Truck Festival aan de gang met
muziek. Ons kleinzoontje heeft zijn hartje opgehaald in de vernieuwde speeltuin.
De gemeente Berlare ontvangt op 10, 11 en 12 september 2021 het Food Truck Festival 'Kantien Royal' op het grasplein achter de Festivalhal.
Kantien Royal biedt gedurende drie dagen een fijne selectie van de beste 'rollende keukentjes', hippe drankjes, muziek en véél meer .
Snuif de sfeer op van de wereldse keuken en geniet van een sympathiek decor met een hippe soundtrack op de achtergrond.
Wat kan je verwachten:

music. Our grandson had a great time in the renovated playground.

Vandaag is het een warm dagje geweest en ook vanavond nog prachtig weertje. Dus besloten we om een avondwandelingetje te gaan maken in mijn geboortestad Dendermonde. Dendermonde is een stad in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De stad ligt in de driehoek Gent-Brussel-Antwerpen, een van de meest verstedelijkte gebieden van het land. Het is de hoofdplaats van het arrondissement Dendermonde en ligt in de Denderstreek.

Today has been a warm day and this evening the weather was still beautiful. So we decided to go for an evening walk in my hometown Dendermonde. Dendermonde is a city in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The city lies in the triangle Ghent-Brussels-Antwerp, one of the most urbanised areas of the country. It is the capital of the arrondissement Dendermonde and lies in the Denderstreek.

Opwijk : kermis en jaarmarkt
Van zaterdag 25 juni tot en met zondag 3 juli 2022 is het ZOMERKERMIS rond de kerk van Opwijk-Centrum en op de Borchtsite (nieuw!).
De kermis is elke dag open vanaf 16 uur en op:
dinsdag tijdens de jaarmarkt: vanaf 11 uur.
woensdag tijdens het prikkelarm kermismoment: van 14 tot 18 uur.
Deze morgen zijn we voor de eerste keer een kijkje gaan nemen naar de jaarmarkt, kermis, en rommelmarkt. Er was een massa volk op de been en de terassen zaten na de middag overvol. Het zonnetje was ook van de partij, dus dat was dubbel genieten.

The fairground is open every day from 16 hrs and on:
Tuesday during the annual fair: from 11 a.m.
Wednesday during the fair: from 14 to 18 hrs.
This morning we went for the first time to have a look at the annual market, the fun fair and the flea market. There were a lot of people and the terraces were packed after noon. The sun was also present, so that was double enjoyment.

Tongeren is een stad en gemeente in het zuiden van de Belgische provincie Limburg. De stad is de hoofdplaats van een bestuurlijk arrondissement en zetelplaats van een afdeling van het gerechtelijk arrondissement Limburg. Tongeren ligt aan de rivier de Jeker in de regio Haspengouw.

Sint-Amands aan de Schelde, deel 1
10 oktober 2020 (deel 1) Sint-Amands is een dorp in de Belgische provincie Antwerpen en een deelgemeente van Puurs-Sint-Amands. Sint-Amands ligt op de rechteroever van de Schelde. Het grondgebied van deze deelgemeente heeft de vorm van een vijfhoek, en wordt langs 3 zijden omgeven door de Vlaamse provincie Oost-Vlaanderen.
Van Sint-Amands wordt vaak verteld dat het aan de mooiste bocht van de Schelde ligt. Vanop de kaai heb je immers een adembenemend uitzicht op de rivier. Het is dan ook niet verwonderlijk dat verschillende dichters hier inspiratie vonden voor hun poëzie.
Emile Verhaeren die we in deze tocht eer aandoen, vindt hier dan ook zijn laatste rustplaats. Zijn prachtige standbeeld en praalgraf kan je bewonderen op het idyllische pleintje van Sint-Amands. De kaaien liggen eveneens bezaaid met tal van gezellige horecazaken waar je even kan verpozen tijdens je tocht.

10 October 2020 (part 1) Sint-Amands is a village in the Belgian province of Antwerp and a sub-municipality of Puurs-Sint-Amands. Sint-Amands is located on the right bank of the Scheldt. The territory of this municipality has the shape of a pentagon and is surrounded on three sides by the Flemish province of East Flanders.
It is often said of Sint-Amands that it lies on the most beautiful bend in the Scheldt. From the quay you have a breathtaking view of the river. It is therefore not surprising that several poets found inspiration for their poetry here.
Emile Verhaeren, to whom we pay homage in this tour, finds his final resting place here. His beautiful statue and tomb can be admired on the idyllic little square of Sint-Amands. The quays are also dotted with many cosy bars and restaurants where you can take a break during your trip.

Käisin 2022 a. mais Belgias. Teises ja ühtlasi viimases osas matkan ma kaunites Belgia väikelinnades, metsas ning satun ka Brugge´i, mis on väga suursugune ning tohutult kena linn. Tagasiteel viibin ka põgusalt Riias ning isegi Kolmes Tillis teen ühe õlle, mis paraku videolindile ei jäädvustunud.

Sint-Niklaas is een stad in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De stad is de hoofdstad van het Land van Waas en telt ruim 79.000 inwoners, die Sint-Niklazenaars worden genoemd. De bijnamen van de Sint-Niklazenaren zijn oliezeikers, rapenbraders of blauwselmannen. Vanaf 12 november tot en met 6 december verblijven Sinterklaas en zijn Zwarte Pieten opnieuw in de enige echte Sintstad van het land. We zijn blij met onze hoge gast en vieren hem graag uitgebreid. Toch is dit jaar alles een beetje anders.Kunnen de kinderen dit jaar niet op bezoek komen bij Sinterklaas?
Geen probleem, dan komt Hij toch gewoon zelf naar hen! Virtueel én digitaal.
