Strijen Castle, also known as Kasteel Strijen or Slotbosse Toren, lies in the outskirts of the town of Oosterhout, in the province of Noord-Brabant in Netherlands.
what is remaining of the former Strijen Castle in Oosterhout is a single tower fragment of seven storeys high.
The building of Oosterhout Strijen Castle probably started in 1288 by Willem Willemszoon van Strijen.
In 1573, during the 80-Years war, the Strijen castle in Oosterhout was destroyed after a siege by Spanish troops. It was never rebuilt and fell into decay. In the next centuries the castle ruin was used as a quarry for stones which were used to repair roads and a church in and around the village of Oosterhout.

Basilica of St John the Baptist is a renowned landmark in the small city of Oosterhout, in the Netherlands. This small city center has this Roman catholic basilica which is a beautiful, stately church in Oosterhout. The construction of the present basilica initiated around 1473 at the site where a much smaller tuff stone Roman church stood since the early 11th century. The 'unfinished' tower is inspired by the church tower of the Big Kerk in Breda. Construction of the tower started in 1519. The tower of the Basilica of St John the Baptist was used as an observation post by the Spanish troops during the Siege of Breda in 1625.
There are many cafes with outdoor seating surrounding the Basilica of St John the Baptist in Oosterhout. In addition, there is a fountain in the church square. If you want to take a break, do sit on one of the benches, relax and soak up the atmosphere. Oosterhout is a perfect getaway if you are visiting Breda in the Netherlands.

Skyballonvaarten organized this balloon party at the Slotjesveld in Oosterhout in 2016.
In total there were 16 balloons on display.
3 balloons participated in the nightglow, including 1 special shape in the form of a condom.
In the evening flight we also had a rabbit and carfield as special shapes.
Oosterhout is a city in the province of Noord-Brabant, north-east of Breda in the netherlands.

Recreatiepark 't Haasje I Camping Oosterhout
Recreatiepark 't Haasje, dat in 1934 haar eerste gasten ontving, is een typische familiecamping. Het park is prachtig gelegen midden in de bosrijke omgeving van Brabant. In de bossen rondom het park vindt u vele mooie fiets- en wandelroutes, ook bevindt zich hier het grootste mountainbikeparcours van Brabant. Nationaal Park de Biesbosch bevindt zich op een steenworp afstand. Naast alle natuur zijn er in de omgeving ook vele attracties, zoals pretpark de Efteling, Bobbejaanland en Safaripark de Beekse Bergen. Wilt u liever een dagje shoppen, dan biedt Oosterhout volop mogelijkheden, in de historische kern liggen de attracties en bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand rondom het gezellige centrum. Ook Breda en Tilburg liggen in de nabije omgeving en zijn zeker een bezoekje waard.
