Hey guys!! Last week I went on a 5 day trip with my friend to explore Niigata prefecture. Unfortunately, we were beset by pretty unfortunate weather for most of the trip, but I'm glad we were able to make the most out of it and explore what we could ????
If you've never traveled to rural Japan, then you've really missed out on how half the country lives. I highly encourage you to fit in even a day trip out to a less-populated place and experience the countryside, or inaka, of Japan!!
This trip really reminded me how genuinely nice everyone in the countryside is. People in Tokyo are nice, but a lot of it is surface level, while the niceness you experience in the countryside is much more genuine ????
Also, let me just say, I have GOT TO go back to Sado Island!! There was so much more we wanted to do but couldn't! Could've spent the entire trip there!! It was a really amazing place and I highly recommend it (if you can rent a car)!!!

4K On a beautiful sunny day, I took a walk in Ojiya in spring. 230305
On a pleasantly sunny spring morning, we walked through the town of Ojiya.
Starting in front of the station, we walked through the shopping district and crossed a large bridge.
After admiring carp along the way, we walked through the old shopping street and stopped at the library before returning to the station.
It was fun to walk through the area, which is characterized by tall buildings clustered together on the undulating terrain, a characteristic of a region with deep snow.

東頸城丘陵の北部、小千谷市・十日町市・長岡市・柏崎市の4つの市にまたがる1本の主要地方道があります。総延長21kmと主要地方道としては比較的短距離ですが、ちょうど4市の境界付近をなぞるように走っています。
国道403号との僅かな重複供用区間を挟み、大きく2つの区間に分かれていますが、終点側（西側）の榎峠を越える区間には主要地方道としては全国的にも珍しい未舗装のダート区間が残っています。自動車交通不能区間を除くと、新潟県内の未舗装主要地方道は本路線のみであると思われます。
ダート区間は、まるで農道のような轍のある細い道で、普通乗用車がやっと1台通れる程度の幅員しかありませんが、車幅制限や大型車通行止等の標識は設置されていません。
なお、榎峠付近は十日町・長岡・柏崎の3市にまたがっており、道路管理者も十日町・長岡・柏崎の各地域振興局に分かれていますが、市境と管轄局が一致していない箇所があります。
本路線は2020年7月にダート部含む一部区間を収録済みですが、今回は終点から起点に向けて全区間4Kにて収録しました。1年前と比べて舗装区間が僅かに延長されていますが、全区間舗装化が完了するのはもう少し先のことになりそうです。
