GERMANY: Hermann Monument - Teutoburg Forest
On top of the Hermannsdenkmal (Hermann Monument) you have a spectacular view of the area.
The statue is 53,46m high and is situated in Teutoburg Forest, southwest of Detmold in the district of Lippe, Germany.
It can be seen from many different points of the county, looming above the land from its high point on the densely forested and 386m tall mountain Grotenburg.
The Hermannsdenkmal depicts Hermann (Arminius in Latin), who defeated the Romans in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in the year 9 A.D., thus driving them out of the land. This is why the figure crushes the Roman Eagle under its foot.
Construction was started in 1841, but not completed until 1875 with the help of substantial funds from the state of Prussia.
It was built according to plans by the sculptor Ernst von Bandel, who devoted his whole life to it. During construction he lived in a small hut a short distance from the statue (Bandel-Hütte) that can still be visit today.

GERMANY: Schwalenberg village - panoramic views
Schwalenberg is popular with tourists, who come to the rolling hills to see the Burg (now a hotel-restaurant), the 16th-century town hall, and the half-timbered houses lining the cobblestone main street.
The village is located in the Lippe district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated approx. 20 km east of Detmold.
Schwalenberg was probably founded in the 10th century. The early history of the town is linked to the fortunes of the Count of Schwalenberg, the medieval lord of the castle.
In the municipal reorganization of the early 70's, Schwalenberg joined forces with its neighbor Schieder to form the town of Schieder-Schwalenberg.

GERMANY: Detmold Castle
The princely residence castle is located in the center of the town park of Detmold. Originally, this building was more of a fortress than the beautiful castle you can admire today.
All through the Middle Ages the fortress was expanded but only as recently as in the 18th century the former fortress was renovated according to Baroque style and with this turned into a luxurious castle.
You can visit part of the Renaissance castle daily by means of a guided tour.
Marvel at the various state rooms and halls, which mainly date from the 18th and 19th centuries, although there are older items such as the Brussels tapestries from the 17th century on display.
Dr. Armin Prinz zur Lippe still lives in the castle; he is related to the Dutch royal family.

Interessante Orte in Ostwestfalen, die nicht jeder kennt
Da Corona 2020/21 Reisen ins Ausland verhinderte, haben wir statt dessen eine etwas unspektakuläre Gegend in Deutschland erkundet: Ostwestfalen. Die Region gilt ja als öde.
Deshalb waren wir schon erstaunt, dort so viele interessante, sehenswerte, mystische und magische Orte zu entdecken, die sicherlich nicht jeder kennt.
Wir haben in diesem Video erste Versuche mit Text-to-speech gemacht. Und etwas herumexperimentiert: gegen Ende wird das Video gelegentlich etwas surreal, was als Hommage an Quentin Tarantino und Emir Kusturica gesehen werden kann.

Hermannsdenkmal und Externsteime im Teutoburger Wald | Hiking Germany | 20km auf dem Hermannsweg
Ahoj
Endlich zu den Externsteine, ein langer Traum ging in Erfüllung. Ein magischer Ort am Rande des Teutoburger Wald.
Ich habe richtig viel Glück mit dem Wetter gehabt und konnte die Magie förmlich spüren.
Es ging dann auf dem direkten Weg zum Hermanns Denkmal, vorbei an der Vogeltaufe und wunderschönen Landschaften.
Abends bin ich wieder an den Externsteine angekommen und konnte die mystische Abendstimmung einfangen.
Was ein Erlebnis auf 21 km, Traum.
Viel Spaß beim Gucken.

Germany - Oerlinghausen - Archaeological Open Air Museum
In the small Archaeological Open Air Museum in Oerlinghausen in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, visitors get an impression of everyday life in prehistoric times, varying from the summer camp of ice-age reindeer hunters to the courtyard complex of the early Middle Ages. On an area of 15,000 square metres, the museum shows dwellings as well as the economy and environment of various prehistoric and early historical epochs. The islands of time are home to the historically proven typical plants. They make it possible to experience people’s relationship to the environment of their time, for example in the Middle Stone Age hazel forest or in the Bronze Age fields.

Wandern am Tönsberg in Oerlinghausen -Teil 2-
OUTDOOR in Ostwestfalen-Lippe. Im zweiten Teil der Wanderung im Gebiet des Tönsbergs geht es von Oerlinghausen aus über die sogenannte Himmelsleiter auf den Tönsberg. Dort geht es über den Kammweg zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten wie die Kumsttonne, das Ehrenmal oder den Hermann-Löns-Gedenkstein. Eine tolle Gegend, aber leider haben der Borkenkäfer und das Waldsterben nicht vor ihr halt gemacht. Bedauerlicherweise sind diese gravierenden Probleme durch Corona stark ins Hintertreffen geraten.

Three weeks before christmas 2019 i decided to show Marina the famous Hessenpark in the state of Hessen, Germany which shows half timbered buildings, craftsmanship, animals, food and how people worked & lived in the last centuries. It´s one of the biggest in germany as well and has so much interesting stuff to see. Due to the fact it was off season, we had almost the whole park for us.

Three weeks before christmas 2019 i decided to show Marina the famous Hessenpark in the state of Hessen, Germany which shows half timbered buildings, craftsmanship, animals, food and how people worked & lived in the last centuries. It´s one of the biggest in germany as well and has so much interesting stuff to see. Due to the fact it was off season, we had almost the whole park for us.
In the 2nd part we´ll show you a few nice treats to eat and keeping on to explore the buildings.

RC Flugzeug - Ferngesteuerte Flugzeuge auf dem Flugtag in Oerlinghausen 2023
Auf dem Flugplatz in Oerlinghausen fand ein spektakuläres Ereignis statt: der jährliche Flugtag. Eines der Highlights dieser Veranstaltung waren die RC Flugzeuge, auch bekannt als ferngesteuerte Flugzeuge.
Die RC Flugzeuge haben in den letzten Jahren immer mehr an Popularität gewonnen und auf dem Flugtag in Oerlinghausen konnte man sehen, warum das so ist. Diese Modelle sind detailliert gestaltet und bieten eine realistische Flugerfahrung, die die Zuschauer fasziniert.
Die Flugzeuge waren in allen Formen und Größen vertreten, von kleinen einmotorigen Propellermaschinen bis hin zu großen Jets. Die Flugzeugmodelle waren in der Lage, atemberaubende Manöver auszuführen, wie zum Beispiel Loopings, Rollen und sogar Flips.
Ein weiterer Vorteil der RC Flugzeuge ist, dass sie von erfahrenen Piloten ferngesteuert werden. Diese Piloten verfügen über jahrelange Erfahrung und haben eine unerschütterliche Kontrolle über die Flugzeuge, selbst wenn sie in der Luft akrobatische Manöver durchführen.
Die Zuschauer waren begeistert von der Show, die von den RC Flugzeugen geboten wurde. Die Flugzeuge flogen in Formationen und führten synchronisierte Manöver durch, die das Publikum in Staunen versetzten. Einige der Flugzeuge hatten sogar Rauchgeneratoren installiert, die eine bunte Rauchspur hinter sich herzogen, um noch mehr Aufmerksamkeit zu erregen.

NÜRNBERG: Erstmals urkundlich erwähnt wurde Nürnberg in der Sigena-Urkunde aus dem Jahr 1050. Seine erste Blüte erlebte es ab 1219 als eigenständige Reichsstadt des Heiligen Römischen Reichs.
Vor den starken Zerstörungen im Zweiten Weltkrieg und dem sehr vereinfachten Neuaufbau der Nachkriegszeit galt die mittelalterliche Nürnberger Altstadt als eine der bedeutendsten Europas. Einige Wahrzeichen wurden originalgetreu wiederaufgebaut, vor allem die Kirchen der Stadt, aber auch manche Baudenkmäler blieben erhalten. Zu den wichtigsten Wahrzeichen gehören einige Bauten entlang der Historischen Meile, vor allem die Nürnberger Burg. Daneben haben sich weitere Adelsbauten und Burgen der alten Reichsstadt erhalten.
NUREMBERG: Nuremberg was first mentioned in a document in the Sigena document from 1050. It experienced its first heyday from 1219 as an independent imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire.
Before the severe destruction in the Second World War and the very simplified reconstruction in the post-war period, Nuremberg's medieval old town was considered one of the most important in Europe. Some landmarks were rebuilt true to the original, especially the city's churches, but some architectural monuments were also preserved. The most important landmarks include some buildings along the Historic Mile, especially Nuremberg Castle. In addition, other noble buildings and castles of the old imperial city have been preserved.
