Porto Alegre is the state capital of Rio Grande do Sul and the biggest urban agglomeration of southern Brazil. The perfect blend of Brazilian-Portuguese and River Plate-Spanish cultures, added to a strong European heritage gives the city a unique background within Brazil. The city is one of the richest metropolis in the country, the state capital with the highest life quality and literacy rate (97%), the book capital of Brazil.
The gaúchos are very proud of their land and culture. In 1835 a revolution which declared Rio Grande do Sul independent from Brazil broke out, the most significant national conflict of the Brazilian Empire (1822-1889), named the Farroupilha Revolution or Farrapos War. This war wreaked havoc across the entire state during 10 bloody years, killing nearly 20% of the gaúchos and ultimately leading to a peace treaty where the Republica Riograndense once again became part of Brazil. Another major Brazilian revolution also began in Rio Grande do Sul. The Federalist Revolution of 1893 defended the decentralization of powers and greater autonomy for the states, and only finished in 1895, after spreading to two other states.
It was also in Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre) where the 1930 Revolution which overthrew the president Washington Luis began, and so was from Rio Grande do Sul the most important Brazilian communist revolutionary of all times: Luis Carlos Prestes, who led the nation-wide communist upheaval in 1935. For such reasons, among many others, the Gaúchos (Riograndenses) are particularly proud of their mother state, many considering themselves as gauchos rather than Brazilians. Currently, Porto Alegre is a service centered city in between the industrial part of the state (north-east) and the rural part (south). It is also called the Mercosul Capital.
The city is roughly a semi-circle that expanded outward in a concentric manner, beginning from the historical city center, right next to the promontory and the harbor. Avenues going from the center to the outer areas of the semi-circle are the radiais (radials) and are crossed by avenues named perimetrais (perimeters). There is a rapid transit system (operated by trensurb), which runs from downtown Porto Alegre to some cities north of the metropolitan area. There are 22 stations and 43km of line, plus 2 stations of the aeromovel (people mover, linking the airport to the aeroporto metro station).
One of the most famous foods of Brazil, churrasco (slow-grilled and -roasted meat), originated in Rio Grande do Sul. But cuisine is eclectic here, and rice and beans sit on southern tables beside Italian and German dishes, thanks to the South's many European immigrants. Colonial coffee is the elaborate 5 PM tea, with breads, pies, and German kuchen, popular among the Germans in the South.
Football is a passion of the people from Porto Alegre. There is a big rivalry between two football clubs, Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense, founded in 1903, and Sport Club Internacional, founded in 1909. Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense and Sport Club Internacional currently play in the top league in Brazil, the Serie A. Both have successful histories, having won national and international titles, including the South American top honour, the Copa Libertadores, and the highest global trophy for football clubs, the Intercontinental Cup, now known as the Club World Cup.

About Nova Petropolis: Nova Petrópolis is a municipality in the Southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. The main seat of the municipality is also called Nova Petrópolis. Pomerode is a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Located in the Mesoregion of Vale do Itajaí and in the Microregion of Blumenau, it is known for being The most German city in Brazil. Its estimated population in 2020 was 34,010 inhabitants, according to IBGE data.
In addition to Portuguese, a large part of the local population speaks a German very close to Standard German (Hochdeutsch), while the original language of most Pomeranians is Pomeranian. Therefore, there is the coexistence of these three linguistic codes in the city (Portuguese, German and Pomeranian)
BLUMENAU
Blumenau is a municipality in the state of Santa Catarina, it is the third municipality in population in the state, the 8th in the Southern Region of Brazil, the 78th in Brazil and the only medium-large city in Santa Catarina, constituting one of its main industrial centers, technology and university.
It was founded by the German chemist and pharmacist Hermann Bruno Otto Blumenau, who arrived in a boat via the Itajaí-Açu river accompanied by seventeen other compatriot settlers. This landed at the mouth of the Garcia stream on September 2, 1850 and divided the land into lots so that the settlers could build their homes, mostly houses made with the half-timbered technique. The gap between the mouths of the Velha and Garcia streams defined the current city center.
It has a cultural agenda focused on parties based on the daily life and habits of European immigrants, highlighting the German colonization, with Oktoberfest, the second largest beer party in the world, which, every year in October, takes place for 17 days, and the Stammtisch, a traditional meeting of associations, which takes place both on Rua XV de Novembro, in the center of the municipality, and in Vila Itoupava. The Italian core of the population holds the Festitália, in addition to meetings of the Centro de Tradições Gaúchas (CTG) and several other manifestations of European and Brazilian cultures.
Blumenau, with estimated 366.418 of population, is the economic center of the Itajaí valley, with the textile and computer industries standing out — with national and international companies, such as Companhia Hering, the 16th largest in the state of Santa Catarina, and the largest label manufacturer in the world, Haco. It is also noted the regional relevance of the services and trade sector; namely health and education, with the University of Blumenau and four hospitals. Blumenau has one of the highest human development indices in Brazil and extensive vegetation cover due to the presence of the Serra do Itajaí National Park in its territory. However, it has social problems in common with the rest of Brazil, such as the presence of 23,131 inhabitants in favelas, the highest number in Santa Catarina in 2010.

Driving pelo centro da cidade de Novo Hamburgo no Rio Grande do Sul.
A economia de Novo Hamburgo nasceu e desenvolveu-se com a indústria do calçado. Foi uma fase muito rápida, persistente e organizada, sendo reconhecida como a Capital Nacional do Calçado. Por causa disso, surgiu o chamado setor coureiro-calçadista formado por curtumes, indústrias químicas, componentes para calçados, indústria metalúrgica e componentes eletrônicos. Aparecendo ainda o setor de plástico e o metal-mecânico que começam a fazer parte na economia do município.
Hoje Novo Hamburgo inicia a desfrutar uma nova fase de diversificação industrial, acompanhada com especial atenção pela administração municipal. Como incentivo fiscais com a instalação de novas indústrias, facilitando sua implantação e abrindo a porta para novas atividades. O município já inclui indústrias de farmácia, vestuário, cosméticos, móveis, eletrodomésticos, gráficas de última geração, informática, química, construção civil, carrocerias, alimentos, entre outras.
Devido a atividade industrial e comercial conta com a administração da Associação Comercial, Industrial e de Serviços e Câmara de Diretores Lojistas, com participação efetiva junto aos governos estadual e federal.
A Feira Internacional de Calçados e Artefatos de Couro é considerada uma das importantes feiras do setor calçadista em Novo Hamburgo. Se realiza anualmente desde 1963 e, além de divulgar a cidade internacionalmente, esta promovendo o potencial da indústria calçadista na região do Vale dos Sinos. O parque de exposições da feira tem oito pavilhões climatizados, construídos numa área de 25 000 metros quadrados com salão de convenções e palestras, lancherias, hotel, restaurante panorâmico e quadras de tênis.

Новый Гамбург включен в так называемую Rota Romântica – туристский маршрут по самым романтическим немецким городкам Юга.
Некогда был основанной португальцами еще в XVIII-м веке деревушкой, обретшей место на карте с первыми немецкими поселенцами уже в 1824 г.
На горе Hamburger Berg в 1870 г. возникает первое градообразование – ныне же это район Старый Гамбург (Hamburgo Velho). Благодаря ремесленным навыкам переселенцев, город стал интенсивно развиваться, да с такой силой, что начал сам себя обеспечивать. Будучи в составе агломерации Сан-Леопольдо на правах пригорода, Новый Гамбург всячески стремился выделиться в отдельный муниципалитет, что произошло лишь 5 апреля 1927 г при подписании декрета №3818, известного в истории как «Золотой декрет» (“O Decreto de Ouro”). Такое стремление было вызвано небывалыми темпами развития торговли и индустрии – в частности, обувной промышленности. Новый Гамбург был известен в Бразилии как «обувная столица» - но глобализация и Китай все уравняли, как «кольт» когда-то поступил с людьми. Однако, с 1963 г. в городе проводится ежегодная обувная ярмарка, а сам штат Рио Гранди-до-Сул обеспечивает 80% обувного экспорта Бразилии, хотя, полагаю, эти статданные сейчас следует поделить минимум на два-три из-за кризиса.
Что интересно, власти Сан-Леопольдо трижды отклоняли петицию об отделении, и это вынудило главных лиц Нового Гамбурга обратиться к правительству штата, вследствие чего ушлые меркантильные засранцы Сан-Леопольдо потеряли свою священную корову, дающую сверхплановые удои.

City Description:
Foz do Iguaçu, a city in the Brazilian state of Paraná, is the main base for visiting famed Iguaçu Falls, one of the world's largest waterfalls. Stretching for 2.7km, and straddling the border with Argentina, the falls comprise hundreds of cascades, including the 80m-tall Devil’s Throat. Drenching rides on rubber boats are a popular way to take in the thundering spectacle.Surrounding the falls is Iguaçu National Park, a subtropical rainforest with diverse wildlife. Near its visitors center is the Bird Park, home to around 150 species, including toucans and macaws. North of Foz do Iguaçu, the massive Itaipu Dam, which supplies a large portion of Brazil’s energy, offers tours. Nearby is the Chinese-style Buddhist Temple, with over 100 statues, including a 7m-tall Buddha. In town are hotels, restaurants and tour operators that cater to the falls’ visitors. Across the Iguaçu River is Puerto Iguazú, the hub for Argentina's side of the falls.
Weather and Events:
Peak travel period is summer (Nov–Feb). The climate is humid and subtropical, with the hottest days and rainy season Oct–Mar.
