Akita Prefecture has many sightseeing spots bordering on neighboring prefectures such as Hachimantai, Lake Towada, and Shirakami Sanchi. Although there are not many nationally known autumn leaves viewing spots in Akita Prefecture, there are many hidden places that are well known by local people. Enjoy the spectacular autumn leaves at Lake Tazawa and Toudou Falls, which are the pride of Akita Prefecture!

■秋田八幡平・大沼 ( 9月下旬～10月下旬 )
八幡平（はちまんたい）は、岩手県と秋田県にまたがる台地状火山で「日本百名山」の一つに数えられます。八幡平一帯は地形がなだらかで沼や湿原が多く、標高1,614 mの山頂付近にも「八幡沼」「メガネ沼」など複数の沼が点在し、駐車場から散策道を歩いて1時間ほどで一周できます。
大沼は八幡平の秋田県側の中腹にある沼で、一帯は「森林浴の森百選」に選定されています。周辺には後生掛温泉や玉川温泉などの温泉地が点在し、森林浴と温泉浴が楽しめる大自然の宝庫です。「森林セラピー基地」としても認定されており、大沼を中心に森林セラピーロードも整備されています。大沼の周囲を一周できる自然探勝路もあり、森の中も通りながら30分ほどで歩いて一周できます。
■玉川温泉 ( 10月中旬～11月上旬 )
玉川温泉は、八幡平の秋田県側山麓にある温泉で、「大噴」と呼ばれる湧出口から強酸性泉が湧出し、豊富な湯量と効能から、湯治場として人気があります。玉川温泉には地熱の高い地獄地帯が存在し、人々がゴザを引いて岩盤浴を行う光景が見られます。
■宝仙湖 ( 10月中旬～11月上旬 )
宝仙湖（ほうせんこ）は、玉川ダムの建設によって形成された人造湖で、水没地域が「宝仙平」と呼ばれていたことが名称の由来です。
玉川ダムは一級河川・雄物川水系の玉川に建設されたダムで、「ダム湖百選」にも選定されています。
■田沢湖・田沢湖高原 ( 10月中旬～11月上旬 )
田沢湖は秋田県中東部に位置する湖で、その最大深度は423.4ｍ、湖として日本一の水深を誇る神秘的な湖です。田沢湖高原は、田沢湖の東に位置する温泉郷で、眼前に田沢湖を一望できる大パノラマが広がります。田沢湖高原から乳頭温泉エリアへ行く途中には、大規模なブナの二次林が保護されています。
■十和田湖 ( 10月中旬～下旬 )
十和田湖（とわだこ）は、青森県と秋田県にまたがるカルデラ湖で、国の「特別名勝」に指定されています。秋田県側にある「発荷峠（はっかとうげ）」をご紹介します。
■白神山地 岳岱自然観察教育林 ( 10月中旬～下旬 )
岳岱（だけだい）自然観察教育林は、秋田県藤里町にある約12haのブナ原生林で、世界遺産・白神山地のブナ林を気軽に体験できる森です。ブナと苔むした巨岩との調和が素晴らしく、「森林浴」を楽しみながら世界遺産の森を満喫できます。森を歩いていると、ブナの巨木にも出会えます。ブナの寿命は通常300年前後といわれていますが、樹齢400年を超える老木は「400年ブナ」と呼ばれます。
■きみまち阪県立自然公園 ( 10月中旬～11月上旬 )
きみまち阪公園は、秋田県北部の能代市にある景勝地で、東西に流れる米代川に沿って断崖絶壁の屏風岩がそびえ立ち、春の桜・お花見や、秋の紅葉スポットとして有名です。この地を訪れた明治天皇と皇后のロマンチックな逸話が残り、お二人の仲にあやかり、良縁祈願ができる場所もあります。きみまち阪公園から、眼下に米代川と七座山（ななくらさん）の景色も楽しめます
■桃洞滝 ( 10月中旬～下旬 )
桃洞滝（とうどうのたき）は、秋田県東部にある森吉山の山麓にかかる滝で、落差約20m、別名「女滝（めたき）」と呼ばれ、子宝の滝、安産の滝として地元の人々に親しまれています。桃洞渓谷（とうどうけいこく）には、Ｕ字渓谷に大小のおう穴と滝が点在し、
「森吉山野生鳥獣センター」から約4kmの遊歩道が整備され、清流沿いに続くコースは「天国の散歩道」と呼ばれています。紅葉の時期は特に美しく、多くのハイカーが訪れます。
■岨谷峡 ( 10月下旬～11月上旬 )
岨谷峡（そうやきょう）は、秋田県のちょうど真ん中に位置する峡谷で、「日本の紅葉百選」に選定されています。岩見川の上流域に、断崖絶壁が300ｍ以上にわたって続く峡谷で、高くそびえ立つ岩と、澄み切った清流を眺めながら散策できます。
秋田県のちょうどど真ん中にあることから「へそ公園」も整備され、遠くには出羽山地の山々を望み、紅葉が美しいスポットです。
■秋の宮温泉郷・湯の又大滝 ( 10月下旬～11月上旬 )
湯の又大滝は、秋田県南部の秋の宮温泉郷（あきのみやおんせんきょう）の近くにある滝で、落差は約40ｍで、ゆざわジオパークに属する大きな滝です。秋の宮温泉の一帯は「日本の紅葉百選」にも選定されており、秋には、湯の又大滝を背に壮大で美しい紅葉を見られます。

We visited Akita Prefecture to explore this wonderful snowy prefecture. There was so much stuff to see! Akita Prefecture does not get much hype which I think is a shame as this prefecture is literally like straight out of a fairytale. We got to experience farm life, played in the snow, cooked local cuisine and got to connect with so many kind people. If you ever have a chance to visit Akita, I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Noshiro to Kyoto The Long Way...
Siann, Rob, Minnie-Chan and a new addition, take the Resort Shirakami train along the Sea of Japan where the train follows the coast. Tracking inland towards Aomori, we then spend an entire day on trains travelling to Kyoto with a few shenanigans along the way! :)

This is a video of the Noshiro Port Epidemic Dispersal Fireworks Show held at Noshiro Port in Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture on July 10, 2021.
Following last year's Noshiro Port Surprise Fireworks, this fireworks display was held as a surprise project this year as well.
Approximately 5,000 fireworks were launched by Ina Kakoh Horiuchi Fireworks Co., Ltd., which has been in charge of launching fireworks in Noshiro since 2019 with the support of six sponsor companies.

能代公園は公園全体が小丘陵になっており、米代川、日本海、そして白神山地の風景を楽しむことができます。春には桜まつり、つつじ祭りが行われ大勢の人でにぎわいます。
さくらまつり（４月中旬～下旬）
ソメイヨシノなど約４００本に及ぶ桜が公園内に植えられています。大人も子どもも楽しむことが出来ます。

行けないと思いますよ。

本当は、神社へ向かう途中に大きな動物の足跡も見つけているんです
写真も撮ったけど、載せませんでした。
不必要にビビらせすぎてもいけないしね
先日は、三峯神社さんがあまりにきれいだから何月の何時頃かと
聞いてきた方がいらっしゃいましたが・・・

早朝は本当に熊が普通に歩いているそうですよ。
神社前のお店のご主人に言われましたもん。
でも、実はその後も奥宮さん
再度登拝しています。

映像が私のミスでないけど、高さ1.5ⅿくらいのところまで
完全に皮がはがされている木もあったからね。
多分、爪でひっかいたんだと思う
凄かったからね。
あの映像があったら、みんなビビったと思うけど
気が付いたのが通り過ぎてずいぶんあとだったんで・・・
エラーで撮影できてなかったんだよね。
「熊 ひっかき傷」で検索すると、爪でひっかかれた木の画像が
出てきますが・・・
私が見たのは、1.5ⅿくらいの高さから下まで
全部がその写真の様にひっかかれた木
なかなか笑いますよ。
この神社に向かう途中の道路右側の木でみました。
そう思うと、自分てやっぱりバカですよね。
だって、いつも頭のどこかで出てこないかな？って思ってる。
そうしたら、バズるのにって( ；∀；)

Tanabata Festival 2017 in Noshiro, Yaku-Tanabata
“Yaku-Tanabata” is a traditional Summer Tanabata event since ancient times in Noshiro.
With Taiko, Fue, and Dengaku, rectangular lanterns that the children put on their heads, they bring out the huge castle shaped lantern floats with a model of Shachi (killer whales) on top, which parade through the town.
There are several versions of its origins. It is widely believed to originate in the custom of nebu-nagashi for casting away into the Yoneshiro river drowsiness and laziness which were tremendous hindrances in farm work. There is also the legend of how Sakanoue-no-Tamuramaro (758-811), the warlord of the day came to stamp out the Ezo people of Hokkaido and the very north of Honshu, the main island, who did not obey the Imperial Court. He threatened them by using gigantic castle-shaped lantern and succeeded in destroying them.
