Even though Providence is often overlooked as larger nearby urban epicenters like New York City and Boston are more often associated with tourism, it's still an excellent city to visit. It's a city that's got a lot going for it. Not only is it the state capital and largest city in Rhode Island, but it's also the third-largest city in New England.

At one time, it was a major hub for both industry and organized criminal activity, but over the years, the city has experienced a bit of a renaissance of sorts. These days the addition of parks, museums, restaurants, bars, clubs, and a variety of other attractions have helped the city to reconnect with it's roots while paving a way forward to the future. The Providence of today bears very little semblance to the one of a hundred years ago, but even so, it's done a good job at preserving its history and architecture in such a way that it still holds some of its original charm and soul.
The majority of Providence's attractions can be found in four distinct neighborhoods. Downcity encompasses the core of the downtown region as well as Waterplace Park, Capitol Hill, and Providence Place Mall.
Federal Hill is a neighborhood due west of downtown and runs along Atwells Avenue. There you will find a vibrant nightlife scene and some of the best Italian cuisines in the city.
College Hill, or The East Side as it is sometimes called, features some of the city's oldest and historically significant homes and architecture. It's also home of Brown University as well as the Rhode Island School of Design. The area is also known for its eclectic shops, restaurants, and lively urban culture.
South Providence has developed a pretty nasty reputation over the decades. It's a neighborhood that has historically been impoverished and crime-laden, but just like any urban setting, as long as you navigate the neighborhood with a little bit of caution, you'll find that it's a great place to go to get away from all of the hustle and bustle of downtown. There are plenty of restaurants, hair salons, banks, pharmacies, supermarkets, and libraries in this area, and downtown is just a quick 15-minute drive away.
In this video, we'll be taking a look at some of the attractions and sights worth checking out next time you're in town. Providence might not be a New York or LA, but it still offers many attractions and destinations worth exploring and visiting.

North Smithfield Rhode Island (RI) Real Estate Tour

North Smithfield, Rhode Island is located at the northern border of the state and has been called the gateway to northern Rhode Island. Conveniently situated along Route 146 between Providence and Worcester, North Smithfield is a great place to live, work and play.
Incorporated in 1871, the town was first called Slater after English industrialist John Slater. The name was changed to North Smithfield just sixteen days later. Most early settlers were farmers, but the town's proximity to water fostered significant industrial growth, as mills were established along the waterfront.
North Smithfield still contains several working farms, including Wright's Dairy Farm, the Goodwin Farm, Homestead Gardens, and Christiansen's Orchard. The Olde Allen Farm is home to Hi-On-a-Hill Herb Farm, the only certified organic vegetable farm in Northern Rhode Island. North Smithfield's farms sell locally grown products to a clientele drawn from the region. Additionally, Brookside Equestrian Center and Phoenix Rising Horse Farm help to make North Smithfield a first rate location for equestrian training.
North Smithfield is ready as we enter the 21st century to accept the ever evolving demands of the new global marketplace.
