What are the most loved towns in England? There is something about the towns in England that makes them famous the world over. Could it be because, in England, there is always a carnival or festival in one place or the other? You probably have to look past the large towns and cities to discover them. That's why we want to look at these 10 most loved towns in England to see why they're loved.
Some of these towns are neatly tucked away, in rolling green hills, on rugged cliffs, near forests, or moorland. Others have beaches and rivers. There’s something about these quintessential towns in England that makes them loved. Follow along and see if you too would love these most loved towns in England.
10. Selby
We start off with Selby a town in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire. It is a market town and civil parish in the Selby District. With its status as a town council, Selby is 14 miles south of York on the River Ouse. The town with a population of 14,731 is one of the 10 most loved towns in England.
There used to be a large shipbuilding industry in this town which was historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. It was also an important port on the Selby Canal that was bringing trades from Leeds. Something to be loved about this town is the market towns and picturesque villages. It’s one of the most loved also because house prices there are lower and people get more for their money.
9. Frome
When Frome was listed among one of the “Best Places to Live in Britain” by a popular ranking, we know it’s going to be one of the most loved towns in the country. Now, this town and civil parish in eastern Somerset is the ninth most loved town in England. Frome is built on uneven high ground on the Mendip Hills, at the eastern end and it centers on the River Frome.
The town about 13 miles south of Bath and the largest in the Mendip District of Somerset is loved for being welcoming, charming, and vibrant. A part of the parliamentary constituency of Somerton and Frome, it has a wealth of history, culture, and natural beauty. People from outside the town love it for its tranquility and antiquity.
8. Maldon
The next of the most loved towns in England is Maldon. The town council also in the ceremonial country of North Yorkshire is another town in the county on this list. Of course, North Yorkshire has a lot of loved towns, and this civil parish on the Blackwater estuary in Essex is just one of them. It is the seat of the Maldon District and the starting point of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation.
Known for Maldon Sea Salt being produced in the area, the town with a population of 14,220 is loved for being a good place to retire. You will find a lot of elderly people from whom you can learn about the rich English history and culture
7. Hart
We would love to include Hart here even though it is a local government district. It’s in Hampshire and derived its name from the River Hart with its council based in Fleet. Formed on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act of 1972, it doesn’t have city status. However, it’s a merger of the urban district of Fleet, and the Hartley Wintney Rural District.
We consider Hart one of the most loved places in England after it was named the best place to live in Britain by the 2017 Halifax Quality of Life study. It’s indeed one of the richest and least deprived areas in the entire United Kingdom, according to the Indices of Deprivation 2015. The town ranked 326th least deprived out of 326 local authorities in England. That’s why people love Hart.

What are the 10 prettiest towns in the county of Essex? To determine this, I visited them all. Here's what I found out.
As a disclaimer, this list is neither a social commentary, nor a guide on which are the nicest towns to live, but purely a judgement on the aesthetics of each respective town centre.

Kingston upon Thames, also known as Kingston, is an area of south west London, England, located 10 miles south west of Charing Cross. Kingston upon Thames is the administrative centre of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, and identified as a major metropolitan centre in the London Plan.
Kingston upon Thames lies approximately 33 feet (10 metres) above sea level. Kingston upon Thames is notable as the ancient market town in which Saxon kings were crowned. Kingston upon Thames was part of a large ancient parish in the county of Surrey and the town was an ancient borough, reformed in 1835.
Kingston upon Thames has been the location of Surrey County Hall from 1893, extraterritorially in terms of local government administration since Kingston became part of Greater London in 1965. Most of the town centre is part of the KT1 postcode area, but some areas north of Kingston railway station have the postcode KT2 instead.
Kingston upon Thames is served by two South West Trains routes advertised from London as to Shepperton and to Strawberry Hill, though the second route is a complete loop. Three railway stations serve the town on this line from London Waterloo station:

Norbiton and
Hampton Wick.
Norbiton is east of the town centre near Kingston Hospital, and Hampton Wick is to the west across Kingston Bridge. New Malden, Wimbledon and Richmond upon Thames are on the lines

Sutton is the principal town of the eponymous London Borough of Sutton in South London, England. It lies on the lower slopes of the North Downs, and is the administrative headquarters of the Outer London borough. It is 10 miles (16 km) south-south west of Charing Cross, and is one of the thirteen metropolitan centres in the London Plan. New Malden drone footage
Old Malden is a ward of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames in southwest London, 10 miles southwest of Charing Cross. Malden Manor is an alternative name for part of Old Malden, popularised by the railway company that made up this name for its station here.

London walk: New Malden, Surrey
Join me on a sunny April morning for a walk along New Malden High Street, a popular London commuter town. I got the idea to film here after seeing season 3 episode 1 of Killing Eve which has Sandra Oh (as Eve Polastri) working in New Malden in a Korean restaurant having escaped Villanelle (Jodie Comer). So for fans of the show I have identified the filming locations that I have worked out from watching the episode and press reports. For non-fans, it’s a quiet day so plenty of opportunities to nose around this part of the London suburbs during quarantine, largely uninterrupted. New Malden is around a 20-minute train journey from London Waterloo in travel card zone 4. It is home to the largest Korean community in Europe. Oh and the Guildhall Duck puts in an appearance.

Malden is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. At the time of the 2020 U.S. Census, the population was 66,263 people.
Malden is bordered by Melrose on the north, Medford on the west, Everett on the south, Revere on the east, and Saugus on the northeast. Boojum Rock located in the north west corner of Malden inside the Middlesex Fells Reservation is the highest point in Malden with an elevation of approximately 275 feet.

4K Walk in Massachusetts - Malden
In this video, we will go on a walk at Malden. This walk begins from Malden Center MBTA Station to Broadway Plaza. In 1640, the Puritans settled in Malden on land purchased in 1629 from the Native American Pennacook Tribe. Located north of the Mystic River, the area was originally known as Mistick Side and was part of Charlestown. Malden was incorporated as a separate town on May 2,1649. The name Malden was chosen by Joseph Hills, an early settler and landholder, who emigrated from Maldon, England. Malden was incorporated as a city on March 31, 1882 and originally included what are now the adjacent cities of Melrose (until 1850) and Everett (until 1870).
During the American Revolution, the citizenry of Malden were heavily involved in the early resistance of the oppression of Britain and was the first town to petition the colonial government to withdraw from the British Empire.
