Asahikawa is a city on northern Japan's Hokkaido island. To the east, a cable car runs up Mount Asahi, location of the Asahiyama Zoo with its polar bears, penguins, and orangutans.
Closer to the center, restaurants in the Asahikawa Ramen Village offer the city's signature soy sauce–based noodle soup. Malls line the pedestrianized shopping street of Kaimono Koen, stretching north from Asahikawa train station.

Nemuro Hokkaido Japan in 4K - 北海道 根室市
The Nemuro Peninsula is about 340km away from Sapporo, the prefectural capital of Hokkaido. It is located in the easternmost part of Hokkaido, so unlike Otaru, Hakodate, and Furano, there are not so many foreign tourists.
However, you can see the fastest rising sun in Japan at Eastern Cape Nosappu, which is the easternmost point of Japan.
In addition, the Nemuro Peninsula is one of Japan's leading wild bird observing sites, where more than 370 of the approximately 600 species of domestic birds can be confirmed.
In Shunkutai, which is known as a superb view in Nemuro, there is a vast sandbar that has been barely touched by people in its history. It took thousands of years to build the current terrain, the islands made of sand grew plants and created a landscape that couldn't be imagined to be a coast, and it wasn't far from the city. It is said that Shunkokutai is also known as a miracle island because nature that is almost untouched remains in these three elements.
Speaking of special products of Nemuro, Hanasaki crab and saury are famous. Hanasaki crab, which is considered a high-quality crab, is used not only for sushi but also for pasta and ramen.
In 2020, a highway was opened between Kushiro and Nemuro, making it easier to access.
When traveling to Kushiro or Shiretoko, we recommend that you visit Nemuro, a little-known tourist destination, to see wonderful scenery and a lot of wildlife.
根室半島は、札幌市から340㎞ほど離れた場所にあり、北海道の最東端に位置しています。そのため、小樽や富良野などの外国人に定番である観光地とは異なり、外国人観光客はそれほど多くいません。
しかし、日本の最東端『納沙布岬』では、”日本で一番早く昇る朝日”を眺めることができるため、元旦には初日の出を見ようと、全国各地からたくさんの観光客が納沙布岬に訪れます。
また、根室半島は国内の約600種の野鳥のうち、370種以上が確認できる国内有数の野鳥観察地です。根室で絶景と呼ばれる春国岱（しゅんくにたい）では、今までの歴史の中で人の手がほとんど加えられていない広大な砂州があります。驚くほど美しく、世界的にも珍しい砂の島であるため、別名「奇跡の島」と言われています。
根室の特産物と言えば、花咲ガニやサンマが有名です。高級なカニとされている花咲ガニは寿司だけではなく、パスタやラーメンにも使用されます。
2020年には釧路と根室の間に高速道路が開通したため、アクセスし易くなりました。
釧路や知床に旅行に行った際には、もう少し先の穴場の観光地である根室まで行き、素晴らしい風景や数多くの野生動物を見ることをお勧めします。

Nemuro, an easternmost city of Japan | 根室 日本最東端 | เนมูโระ ฮอกไกโด [4K]
This trip I went to Nemuro, an easternmost city in Japan. You can watch sunrise before anyone in Japan at Cape Nosappu, and you can see Habomai islands from here too. Nemuro is very small town, with a very low population of just less than 30,000. A vast land with lush of green, where all wildlife and animals are roaming around freely makes this city to be one of my favourite place in Japan, without a doubt.
I hope you enjoy this short video of Nemuro, and I will strongly recommend you to make a visit if possible, as I think this town is very worthwhile and underrated, and I only wish I had more time there. I will definitely re-visit again in different season, and hope I can document a different Nemuro in other seasons.

Much of the city lies on the Nemuro Peninsula. As of February 29, 2012, the city has an estimated population of 29,087, with 12,966 households, and a population density of 56.74 persons per km2 (147.0 persons per sq. mi.). The total area is 512.63 km2 (197.93 sq mi).

While Far East Hokkaido isn't an official geographical term, it's meant to include places such as Kushiro, Lake Akan, Shiretoko Peninsula, the Nemuro Strait, and coastline of Shibetsu down to Hamanaka.

Walking in Nemuro ,Hokkaido 根室駅から市内を散策【4K】
I walked around Nemuro city in Hokkaido, Japan from Nemuro station.
Nemuro is the capital city of Nemuro Subprefecture and has a population of about 30,000.
Nemuro is the easternmost city in mainland Japan and is famous for fisheries, especially crab.

Riding the old KiHa 40 series diesel car along the Pacific coast from the city of Obihiro to Kushiro.
The old diesel cars showing in the movie were replaced with new ones in March 2021. This was recorded just a few days before they were withdrawn. There was still a lot of snow on the ground though eastern Hokkaido is generally drier compared with the surrounding areas.
Some of these trains have found a second life on the Myanmar Rail system where there are numerous old Japanese trains being used.
2:45 This is the ”10 Dollar Station”, officially 十弗（Tofutsu). ”十” means ten and 弗 looks like the $ sign. The name Tofutsu derives from the Ainu language meaning the mouth of a swamp.
