MUST VISIT IN NELSON | NELSON CITY TOUR

Nelson Markets | NelsonCity Walk Tour | Neudorff Vineyard | Maccashin Brewery - Final Day

Hi everyone we are Cai and Dee.

It is the last day of our Discover Nelson region vlogs and we are ending this trip here in Nelson, the largest city in the region. Wow the last 5 days have been pretty amazing. The things we've discovered about this region have been awesome and worth it, so do check out our Discover Nelson Tasman Playlist.

Nelson Weekend Markets

We started our last day by checking out the well known NelsonMarket and if you have been following us, you know we love our markets! The Nelson Markets is known as an incubator for start up artisan food products and have been running for 42 years. We strolled around the markets andhad our breakfast here and enjoyed mingling with the local producers and artisan food makers. More information on its opening hours on our video.

Christ Church|Nelson Cathedral

After breakfast, we went to an iconic landmark in Nelson City, the Christ Chruch or Nelson Cathedral. This was a quick walk from the market and a landmark worth seeing. We were in awe on how well preserved this cathedral was and the marbles used to build this cathedral was from a place we went to in this region, super cool!

Nelson City walking tour

We had to do a walking tour of the largest city in the Nelson Tasman region and checked out the shops. If you're keen to do a bit of shopping, checkout Trafalgar, Hardy and Selwynn streets. Nelson city centre does have the big city feel and so different from the town we've been to in this region.

Neudorf Vineyard- Wine tasting

Then it started to pour so we had to do a highly recommended activity on a rainy day- wine tasting! We went to one of New Zealand best boutique winery, Neudorf vineyards which is about a 30 minute drive from Nelson city. Heaps of vineyards in Nelson though have mentioned this on this video.

McCashins brewery

And for our final stop, we had lunch in New Zealand's oldest cidery and craft beer brewery, The McCashin's brewery found in Stoke Nelson. It was a public holiday when we went there so the bottling factory was closed. We of course enjoyed a good tipple while we were there and celebrated the end of our adventure.

That's that is the end of our Discover Nelson/Tasman adventure. Th Enelson Tasman region is a huge region with lots to offer. The people in this region are very hospitable and friendly.
Really felt a sense of pride from the local producers from the orchards, breweries, vineyards and side of the road produce stalls.

The three national parks in this region definitely draws visitors in especially if you are into tramping/hiking mountain biking, rock climbing and water sports activities like the one we did -kayaking in the coast of Abel tasman national park.

Really impressed by the beaches in the Abel Tasman region in the Golden Bay and Kaiteriteri area, certainly lives up to their golden sand reputation. If you decide to visit this region, best to plan your trip based on what activities you're interested in and spend a good time in each area.

So we hope you enjoyed this vlog series and we want to thank you for your continued support. We are very grateful. We wish you a happy and healthy 2021!

And of course don't forget to like, share and subscribe to our channel.

Until the next adventure! See you later.

-- About this video --

This morning we drive into Nelson in New Zealand for a day of city touring. After doing a bit of shopping for our supplies at Torpedo7, we borrow some bikes from the Tasman Bay Backpackers and start exploring Nelson City.

First, we check out Trafalgar Square and the Jens Hansen – The Ringmaker jewellers where The One Ring from the Lord of the Rings was made. We get some movie insights by visiting Jen Hansen in Nelson. Then just across the road is The Bead Gallery, a cool and quirky bead shop in Nelson.

We cycle through Queen’s Gardens in Nelson City full of water features, bridges and gardens on our way to the Botanical Reserve. The Botanical Reserve has a number of bush walks including one that goes to the Centre of New Zealand.

The Centre of New Zealand has some awesome views of Nelson City and the surrounding hills. Then it’s back on our bikes and return to the Tasman Bay Backpackers.

So what do you think of Nelson City? Would you stay in Nelson City as part of your New Zealand trip?
