Srivanchiyam is a village located in Tiruvarur District, Tamil Nadu, and is best known for its Sri Vanchinadha Swamy temple. According to the 2011 Census, Srivanchiyam has a geographical area of 428.27 hectares and a population headcount of 2518, with the nearest town being Nannilam, which is 5 kilometres away.
The Sri Vanchinadha Swamy temple is at the centre of the village. The central deity of the temple of the temple is the Lord Vanchinadar, a form of the Lord Shiva, and his consort is Mangalanayaki. The temple is over 1100 years old, and was built by the kind Rajendra Chola in the year 850 CE.
During the Tamil month of Kaarththigai, Theerthavari is conducted in the Guptha Gangai on all Sundays. It also includes a ten-day festival and a car festival at the end of the month. Raghu and Kethu gods are inside of Sri Vanchinathar temple. It is the famous temple for sani bhagavan (Separate temple for the sani bhagavan). This place located in between kodavasal and Nannilam. There are other small temples located in this village.

Kumbakonam, is a town and a special grade municipality in the Thanjavur district. It is located 40 km (25 mi) from Thanjavur and 273 km (170 mi) from Chennai. Kumbakonam is known as a temple city due to the prevalence of a number of temples here and is noted for its Mahamaham festival which attracts people from all over the country.
Kumbakonam dates back to the Sangam period and was ruled by the Early Cholas, Pallavas, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Pandyas, the Vijayanagara Empire, Madurai Nayaks, Thanjavur Nayaks and the Thanjavur Marathas. It rose to be a prominent town between the 7th and 9th centuries AD, when it served as a capital of the Medieval Cholas. The town reached the zenith of its prosperity during the British Raj when it was a prominent centre of European education and Hindu culture; and it acquired the cultural name, the Cambridge of South India. In 1866, Kumbakonam was officially constituted as a municipality, which today comprises 45 wards, making it the largest municipality and second largest local civil body in Thanjavur district.

Kumbakonam is the largest city in delta district. Kumbakonam is called the Temple city of India. Kumbakonam is full of temples. Every street, road, locality has a prominent temple. kumbakonam is popular for the Betal Leaf Combination (Vettrilai Cheeval) and for the thick-strong coffee. kumbakonam is bounded by two rivers - River Cauvery on the north and River Arasalar on the south.

The Town High School and the Kumbakonam Arts College are the grand old centres of education with the latter built on the banks of River Cauvery (kaveri) sometimes referred to as the Cambridge of South India.

Kumbakonam is one of the ancient temple towns and among the top tourist places in India, flanked by the two rivers Cauvery and Arasalar, of Tamil Nadu. The name Kumbakonam means the Pot’s Corner. According to mythology, when the world was destructed due to the tsunami, Lord Brahma asked Lord Shiva, from where he can restart creation. He suggested him to make a magic pot with the sand collected from various sacred places and float it in the floodwater. Kumbakonam is the place where the pot stopped and then Lord Shiva shot an arrow, which led to the spilling of some nectar on this place, and thus life was revived on the earth.
Once ruled by kings, Kumbakonam rose to be a prominent city between the 7th and 9th centuries AD. The town reached the zenith of its prosperity during the British Raj and was named as Cambridge of South for the being the prominent center of European education and Hindu culture.
