Motonosumi Shrine is a shrine located in Yuyatsuo, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The old name is Motonosumi Inari Shrine (original Sumii Narijinja). It is the property of an individual, not a religious corporation or any other legal entity. Therefore, it does not belong to the Association of Shinto Shrines or the Yamaguchi Prefecture Association of Shinto Shrines.
Overview
In 1955 (Showa 30), a white fox appeared at the bedside of Hitoshi Okamura, who was a local Amimoto, and was erected as Motonosumi Inari Shrine when he was told that I should be enshrined here. .. In addition to prosperous business, big catches, and maritime safety, it is said that it is gaining the faith of the local people as a great god of good luck, child treasure, good luck, good luck, traffic safety, and academic achievement. In addition, although it is Inari Shrine, it has nothing to do with Taikodani Inari Shrine (Tsuwano Town, Shimane Prefecture), which uses the characters Inari Shrine.
Looking down from the shrine to the Sea of Japan side, there is Ryugu no Shiofuki where you can see the phenomenon that seawater blows up with the air inside every time a rough wave hits the sea cave under the cliff, and between the shrines 1987 123 vermilion torii gates dedicated over 10 years from 1987 are lined up over 100 meters from the Ryugu. In addition, it is said that the money box, which is said to be the most difficult to put in Japan, is installed in the upper center of the Odorii gate (about 5m in height) near the exit of the back approach, and if you can throw in the money, your wish will come true.
It was selected as one of the Japan's 31 most beautiful places announced in March 2015 by CNN, an American news broadcasting station. As a result of this, the number of tourists including foreigners worshiped rapidly, but the long company name was difficult for foreigners to understand, so the company name was changed to Motonosumi Shrine in January 2019.
According to the Association of Shinto Shrines, the name change of the shrine is basically not renamed, but the company has not consistently held the status of a religious corporation since its foundation. Therefore, since it is not an organization covered by the Association of Shinto Shrines and is a private business that does not acquire any legal personality, it is free to change its name, and the treatment of torii gates, etc. is positioned as the private property of the Okamura family.
It is said that the name change had been under consideration for about two years, and in January 2018 (Heisei 30), it was decided to be Motonosumi Shrine after hearing God's announcement in the fortune telling.

What to do in Japan in Winter
I spent a week traveling around central Japan, and here are some things you can do in Nagano Prefecture in the winter!
In part 1 of my Japan winter series, I visited the beautiful mountains in Chino and Komagane city in Nagano.
The views at the top of Mt. Kurumayama and Senjojiki Cirque were breathtaking and best of all you can get to the top easily by a ski lift or cable car.
For those who want more of a workout, it's a great starting place to hike to the other mountains in the Japan alps!

【Japan 1minute Travel YAMAGUCHI Nagato】 山口 長門 千畳敷（日本海のご来光動画）
ここは、山口県長門にある千畳敷。
日本海が一望できる場所で西側には鳥居がいくつも並ぶ元乃隅神社もあります。
この時期だと日没から夜にかけて漁火も綺麗に見えると思います。
ボクは何故だか朝の風景を撮りに行きましたが、朝は朝で清々しく気持ちのよい朝でした。
2021年の夏の撮旅は島根の中海から宍道湖、出雲から国道９号線で西へ西へ。
世界文化遺産の石見銀山や白い砂浜が綺麗な琴ヶ浜、昭和な感じの温泉津温泉（ゆのつおんせん）。
そして須佐から萩、そして長門、角島から北浦街道で南下して下関、山陽小野田、宇部、そして秋吉台を通って日本海に抜けて最後は兵庫の日和山まで、かなり走った撮旅でした。
この島根から山口の海岸線って砂浜あり断崖絶壁ありと風光明媚で変化に富んだエリアですね。腰を落ち着けてまた撮影に行きたい場所です。
そうそう、温泉津温泉の朝６時からやっている共同浴場の元湯温泉はインパクトがありました。
熱いお湯（たぶん47度ぐらい）とちょっと熱いお湯（44度ぐらい）と初心者向けのお湯（42度ぐらい）と三つの浴槽がありました。
かけ湯をして初心者向けから入り、徐々に身体を慣らしながら、熱いお湯へと挑戦しましたが足まで入っただけで熱さで痺れました。笑
石鹸もシャンプーもなく、ただ温泉に入るというシンプルな浴場です。
たぶん泉質もめちゃ良いと思います。また、行ってみたい温泉ですね。
それと夏ならイカです。須佐の男命（ミコト）イカというブランドで提供される剣先イカ。丸ごと活イカで食べさせてくれます。ボクは街道沿いにあった「梅乃葉」さんで食べましたが本当に美味絶品でした。ここも、また食べたいです。
2021年夏の撮旅はトレダカいっぱいで、それなりに色々と楽しめました。
ボクの撮旅はコロナ禍であっても移動は車だし、撮影も基本は早朝か夕方と人と会うこともなく、でもやはりちょっと気持ちの盛り上がりに欠けました。
写真ってでちゃうんですよね、そんな気持ちが。。
でも、美しき日本が見れて幸せだった2021年の夏でした。
日本の絶景、美しき日本がここにもあります。

⛩Japan reopened its doors to tourists in June 2022. Do you have plans to visit this wonderful country? If the answer is yes, you should definitely visit the Motonosumi Inari shrine!
In 1955, a divine message was sent from the fox spirit to a local resident of Nagato, Yamaguchi Prefecture. She was told to build a sanctuary on the picturesque cliffs where she went fishing. This is the story villagers tell when asked about the origin of Motonosumi Inari Shrine.
Often described as breathtaking, the secluded shrine on the coast of Yamaguchi boasts 123 torii gates. They are all lined up along a path leading to the sanctuary. Most of the gates originally came from their sister shrine; Daikondani Inari Shrine in Shimane Prefecture. The path stretches over 100 meters and is said to bring good luck in fishing, business, travel and pregnancy.
What really sets this shrine apart is the offertory box where you traditionally toss a coin to make a wish or ask for luck. Usually placed on the ground, this shrine's box is attached to the top of the first torii gate on the way. Customers have to throw their coins into the box, waiting for it to come in. If your goal is true and your coin goes in, then your wish will be granted.

Kirigamine Kōgen & Nagato Farm 霧が峰高原
Kirigamine Highland is a well know trekking area located in Nagano prefecture where you can enjoy different types of flowers depending on the season. It is also a great spot to get a stunning view of the surrounding mountains as well as lake Suwa.
I was there at the beginning of August and the meadows at the top where quite a sight!
I did not do trekking that time but you will get an idea of the views from the video I made from the car. Just crossing that area enabled me to enjoy stunning views!
I ended up at Nagato Farm which is well known for raising cows and its dairy products. The soft serve is definitely a must have.
It has a really milky taste and it is so creamy! The best soft serve I have had in a long time.
Animal lovers will also be happy to interact with the farm animals there :-)
