The main attraction in Mayapur is the Temple of Vedic Planetarium built by ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) which is the world's largest temple. Also there is Srila Prabhupada's Pushpa Samadhi Mandir, a memorial to ISKCON's founder. The main shrine is surrounded by a museum depicting Srila Prabhupada's life, using fiberglass exhibits. Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir or the main temple has 3 main altars, Sri Sri Radha Madhava, Panca-tattva and Lord Narasimha Deva. These Pancha Tattva deities are the largest deities of Pancha Tattva in the world.[citation needed] The Panca-tattva comprises Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Nityananda Prabhu, Advaita Acharya, Gadadhara Pandit, and Srivas Thakur.

Nabadwip Dham railway station is a railway station on Bandel–Katwa line connecting from Bandel to Katwa, and under the jurisdiction of Howrah railway division of Eastern Railway zone.[2] This is the main railway station of Nabadwip town of Nadia district in the state of West Bengal. It is situated beside State Highway 8, connecting Nabadwip and Krishnanager through Gouranga Bridge. It serves Nabadwip and the surrounding areas. Almost all EMU and Passenger trains stop at Nabadwip railway station.[3] The distance between Howrah and Nabadwip railway station is approximately 105 km.[4]It has 16th longest railway platform in world 720 m (2,362 ft).
The birth of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is an important chapter of the fifteenth century. With the advent of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Vaishnava culture was well established in Nabadwip. However, even before the birth of Mahaprabhu, during the reign of Jalaluddin Fateh Shah (1481–87), royal fear appeared in Nabadwip. The ruling society and the Brahmin society obstructed the spread of Vaishnava culture in Nabadwip at that time.[13] Many Brahmin scholars and common people had to leave Nabadwip at that time due to the oppression of the king. However, when Chand Kazi, the then ruler of Nabadwip, issued an order to the Vaishnava community to stop chanting, Mahaprabhu went to Kazi's house with his companions and convinced the Kazi to allow the chanting, which is the first instance of civil disobedience movement in the history of India.[14] During Chaitanya and later, various Pandits-Sadhaks-Vidyalankars and Sanskrit Pandits were born in Nabadwip. During the period of Chaitanya, Basudev Sarvabhauma, Raghunath Shiromani, Raghunandan etc. and later Krishnananda Agamavagisha, Buno Ramnath etc., Nabadwip became the main center of Sanskrit practice and learning.[15] At the time of Raja Rudra Roy, there were four thousand students and six hundred professors teaching in Nabadwip, leading to its nickname as the Oxford of Bengal.[16]

Nabadwip and Mayapur are two holy sights of West Bengal. These two places situated on the opposite side of river Jalangi. Mayapur and Nabadwip is connected by ferry service. So both the places can be reached by ferry from one another. These two places are well connected with Howrah, Sealdah, Bardhaman and Krishnanagar. One can reach from krishnanagar to Mayapur by boat. Nabadwip to Mayapur also can be reached by ferry.

In Srimad Bhagavatam, it is said:
In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.
(SB 11.5.32)
Lord Chaitanya appeared 5 centuries ago in Navadvip to inaugurate the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. He and His associates performed congregational chanting of the holy names for the benefit of all.
In today's parikrama we'd be visiting the sacred residences of Srivas Thakur and Sri Murari Gupta, two of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's close associates who resided in Antardvipa.
We come to learn from various authentic sources, Lord Krishna personally made His advent over 500 years ago in a golden complexion to inaugurate this process of congregational chanting as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, in Mayapur, located in Navadvipa, West Bengal.
Sri Navadvipa consists of 9 Islands namely:
Antardvipa
Simantadvipa
Godrumadvipa
Madhyadvipa
Koladvipa
Rtudvipa
Jahnudvipa
Modadrumadvipa
Rudradvipa
Each of these 9 Islands has a high spiritual significance and is imbibed with transcendental qualities. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu used to frequently visit these islands with His associates and encourage the congregational chanting of the holy names of Lord Krishna.
Every year, devotees take pleasure in traversing these islands, visiting various temples along the banks of river Ganga and reminiscing the pastimes of Lord Chaitanya. Particularly during the period of Gaura Purnima (March 18th), the divine appearance day of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

নবদ্বীপের পোড়ামাতলায় অবস্থিত দ্বিশতাধিক প্রাচীন একটি কালীমন্দির।
ইতিহাস:- নদিয়ার রাজ পরিবারের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ভবানন্দ মজুমদারের পুত্র রাঘব তার রাজত্বের শেষ পর্বে 1669 সালে নবদ্বীপের গঙ্গার ধারে মন্দির সহ প্রকান্ড এক গনেশ মূর্তি প্রতিষ্ঠা করেন ।এর পরে তার মৃত্যুর প্রায় 100 বছর পর বন্যা প্রবণ নবদ্বীপ ভাঙনের কবলে পড়লে তৎকালীন নদিয়ার রাজা দোর্দণ্ডপ্রতাপ কৃষ্ণচন্দ্র বিগ্রহ টিকে সরিয়ে আনেন । কিন্তু বিগ্রহ স্থানান্তরের সময় বহু মানুষের স্পর্শ লাগায় এখানকার পন্ডিতবরেরা বিগ্রহকে 12 বছর মাটির তলায় রাখার বিধান দেন ।
পরে সেই বিগ্রহটিকে মাটি থেকে তোলা হয় মহারাজ গিরিশচন্দ্রের আমলে , সেই সময় মূর্তিটিকে তোলার সময় গনেশের শুঁড় টি ভেঙে যায় ।
তখন রাজার আদেশে কোনো এক অজ্ঞাত শিল্পী গনেশ মূর্তি থেকে গিরিশচন্দ্রের আরাধ্যা দেবী আনন্দময়ীর মূর্তি তৈরি করেন এবং দেবী মূর্তির নামকরণ করেন ভবতারিণী মাতা।
