Chanderi, is a town of historical importance in Ashoknagar District of the state Madhya Pradesh in India. It is situated at a distance of 127 km from Shivpuri, 37 km from Lalitpur, 55 km from Ashok Nagar and about 46 km from Isagarh. It is surrounded by hills southwest of the Betwa River. Chanderi is surrounded by hills, lakes and forests and is spotted with several monuments of the Bundela Rajputs and Malwa sultans. It is famous for ancient Jain Temples. Its population in 2011 was 33,081.
Chanderi is mentioned by the Persian scholar Alberuni in 1030. Ghiyas ud din Balban captured the city in 1251 for Nasiruddin Mahmud, Sultan of Delhi. Sultan Mahmud I Khilji of Malwa captured the city in 1438 after a siege of several months. Rana Sanga of Mewar conquer much of the Malwa along with Chanderi and appointed his vassal Medini Rai a rebellious minister of Sultan Mahmud II of Malwa as ruler of Malwa under his lordship.Medini Rai made Chanderi as capital of his kingdom. In the Battle of Chanderi, the Mughal Emperor Babur captured the fort from Medini Rai and witnessed the macabre Rajput rite of jauhar, in which, faced with certain defeat and in an attempt to escape dishonor in the hands of the enemy, women with children in their arms jumped in a fire pit to commit suicide, which was made for this specific purpose, against the background of vedic hymns recited by the priests. Jauhar was performed during the night and in the morning the men would rub the ashes of their dead women folk on their forehead, don a saffron garment known as kesariya, chew tulsi leaves (in India tulsi leaves are placed in the mouth of a dead body), symbolizing their awareness about impending death and resolve to fight and die with honour. This method of fighting & dying for the cause of retaining honour was called SAKA,Earlier Babur offered Shamsabad to Medini Rai instead of Chanderi fort as it had great importance in conquering Malwa but he refused and choose to die fighting.
In 1540 it was captured by Sher Shah Suri, and added to the governorship of Shujaat Khan. The Mughal Emperor Akbar made the city a sarkar in the subah of Malwa. According to Ain-e-Akbari, the autobiography of Akbar, Chanderi had 14000 stone houses and boasted of 384 markets, 360 spacious caravan sarais (resting place) and 12,000 mosques.
The Bundela Rajputs captured the city in 1586, and it was held by Ram Sab, a son of Raja Madhukar of Orchha. In 1680 Devi Singh Bundela was made governor of the city, and Chanderi remained in the hands of his family until it was annexed in 1811 by Jean Baptiste Filose for the Maratha ruler Daulat Rao Sindhia of Gwalior. The city was transferred to the British in 1844. The British lost control of the city during the Revolt of 1857, and the city was recaptured by Hugh Rose on 14 March 1858. Richard Harte Keatinge led the assault, for which he was awarded the Victoria Cross. The city was transferred back to the Sindhias of Gwalior in 1861, and became part of Isagarh District of Gwalior state.
After India's independence in 1947, Gwalior became part of the new state of Madhya Bharat, which was merged into Madhya Pradesh on 1 November 1956.

Deogarh is a village in Lalitpur district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located on the right bank of Betwa River and to the west of Lalitpur hills. It is known for Gupta monuments and for many ancient monuments of Hindu and Jain origins inside and outside the walls of the fort.
The Dashavatara Temple is an early 6th century Vishnu Hindu temple located at Deogarh, Uttar Pradesh which is 125 kilometers from Jhansi, in the Betwa River valley in northern-central India. It has a simple, one cell square plan and is one of the earliest Hindu stone temples still surviving today.
दशावतार मन्दिर, उत्तर प्रदेश के ललितपुर जिले के देवगढ़ में स्थित है। यह भगवान विष्णु को समर्पित है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि यह गुप्त काल में बना था। यहाँ आप भगवान विष्णु के दस अवतार के दर्शन कर सकते हैं और यही नहीं मंदिर के द्वार पर गंगा और यमुना देवियों की नक्काशी की गयी है।
Deogarh village, which has an area of 1,049.15 square kilometres (405.08 sq mi),104 lies on the right bank of the Betwa River, at the point where it joins the reservoir formed by the Rajghat Dam. The village also has two rock cut valleys known as Nahar Ghati (ghati means valley) and Raj Ghati on its southern side along the river. The village is at the western end of the Lalitpur hill range, situated 33 kilometres (21 mi) south-east from Lalitpur town in Lalitpur district, 125 kilometres (78 mi) south of the divisional administrative centre at Jhansi, and 235 km from Gwalior. The nearest railway station is 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) away at Jhaklon. The village has an average elevation of 211 metres (692 ft).
The fort of Deogarh is in a valley which generally has a gentle slope. The valley is formed by the Betwa River at the western end of the hills of the Vindhya Range. Known earlier as Vetravati (Sanskrit, meaning containing reeds), the Betwa River is a tributary of the Yamuna River, and skirts the fort hill on its southern side. The river, flowing at a bend near the fort, has a rocky bed. It flows in a cascade of deep pools with steep rocky banks of sandstone formations. The fort is located on a precipice of the steep cliff, just above the river on its right bank.

Chanderi Fort in Hindi : चंदेरी किला मध्य प्रदेश राज्य के चंदेरी शहर में बेतवा नदी के पास एक पहाड़ी के ऊपर स्थित म.प्र. का प्रसिद्ध और ऐतिहासिक किला है जिसका उल्लेख महाभारत के महाकाव्य में भी पाया जा सकता है जब इस क्षेत्र पर राजा शिशुपाल का शासन था। मालवा और बुंदेलखंड की सीमाओं में फैला यह किला हरे-भरे जंगलों, शांत झीलों और राजपूतों और सुल्तानों के कई पड़ोसी स्मारकों के बीच स्थित है। बता दे तीन अलंकृत द्वार किले के प्रवेश द्वार की रक्षा करते हैं, जिसके मुख्य द्वार ‘खूनी दरवाजा’ के नाम से जाना जाता है। शहर से 71 मीटर ऊपर एक पहाड़ी पर स्थित यह किला अपने ऐतिहासिक महत्व के अलावा सुन्दर परिदृश्यो के लिए फेमस है जिन्हें आप मध्य प्रदेश के प्रसिद्ध किले (Famous Forts of Madhya Pradesh in Hindi) में शुमार चंदेरी किला की यात्रा में देख सकते है।

महाबलीपुरम का चीन के साथ काफी पुराना रिश्ता है। 18वीं सदी में यहीं पर तत्कालीन पल्लव राजा और चीन के शासक के बीच सुरक्षा समझौता हुआ था। साथ ही यह प्राचीन शहर अपने इतिहास और मंदिरों के बारे में जाना जाता है। शहर के समुद्र तट पर बने मंदिरों के समूह को चट्टानों को काट कर बनाए गए हैं।

यह प्राचीन शहर अपने भव्य मंदिरों, स्थापत्य और सागर-तटों के लिए बहुत प्रसिद्ध है। सातवीं शताब्दी में यह शहर पल्लव राजाओं की राजधानी था। द्रविड वास्तुकला की दृष्टि से यह शहर अग्रणी स्थान रखता है। यहाँ पर पत्थरो को काट कर मन्दिर बनाया गया।
रथ' गुफा मंदिर
महाबलीपुरम में आठ रथ हैं जिनमें से पांच को महाभारत के पात्र पांच पाण्डवों और एक द्रौपदी के नाम पर नाम दिया गया है। इन पांच रथों को धर्मराज रथ, भीम रथ, अर्जुन रथ, द्रौपदी रथ, नकुल और सहदेव रथ के नाम से जाना जाता है।

महाबलीपुरम का नामकरण : इस शहर का नाम महान दानवीर असुर राजा महाबली के नाम पर रखा गया था। महाबली ने विष्णु के वामन अवतार को तीन पग भूमि दान में दी थी। वामन भगवान ने दो पग में त्रिलोक्य नाप दिया और फिर पूछा कि राजन तीसरा पग कहां रखूं तो महाबली ने कहा कि भगवन अब बस मेरे सिर ही बचा है आप उसी पर अपना पग रख लें। महाबली की दानवीरता और सत्यता से प्रभावित होकर वामन भगवान ने उन्हें पाताल लोक का चिरंजीवी राजा बनाकर खुद वहां के पहरेदार बन गए। कहते हैं कि आज भी महाबली जिंदा हैं।

7वीं और 10वीं सदी के पल्लव राजाओं द्वारा बनाए गए कई मंदिर और स्थान यहां की शोभा बढ़ा रहे हैं। कांचीपुरम पर राज करने वाले पल्लवों की यह दूसरी राजधानी थी। गुप्त राजवंश के पतन के बाद पल्लव राजाओं ने दक्षिण भारत में राज किया। उन्होंने लगभग 3री सदी से 9वीं सदी के अंत तक अपना दबदबा बनाए रखा। पल्लव राजाओं के शासन काल के दौरान कई महान कवि, नाटक कार, कलाकार, कारीगर, विद्वान और संत हुए थे। कारीगरी के मामले में पल्ववों का साम्राज्य अग्रिण था।
