When friends encouraged Rajendra Prasad to begin a home-eatery in 1979 in Mulbagal, then a sleepy village 100 kms away from Bangalore on the Tirupati - Madras highway, he set out to make a dose that hadn’t been seen in commercial kitchens before. Borrowing a homestyle tradition of cooking dosas on individual tawas, “he pioneered” the technique of making a dose that was both roasted and steamed. And thus began the tradition of a scrumptiously delicious, crisp and fluffy breakfast treat, now known as the Mulbagal Dosa, that has put this temple town on the map for every dose aficionado. Special Masala Dosa
Roasted first and then steamed, the form of the Mulbagal Dosa with its upturned edges mirrors the shape of the individual cast iron pans it is cooked in. Crusty and crisp on the outset, soft and spongy within, this dose comes across as a cross between a traditional version and an appam. Oozing ghee, the dose breaks in a crisp crackle that belies its thick and fluffy body. The chilli-warming, slightly sour notes of the red onion chutney smeared within complements the palya. For a spicier bite, taste the dose with the lentil chutney.

Mulbagal is famous for Kshetra Palaka Sri Anjaneya Temple here. A legend specifies that the Hanuman temple here was installed by Arjuna, one of the Pandavas, after the Mahabharata war. Prasad Hotel in Mulbagal is a famous eatery. This place is famous for its Mulbagal Special Masala Dosa. My friend, Avinash and I decided to go on a ride to Avani Betta. Before the destination, we stopped at Prasad Hotel for breakfast. Dosa here is so unique. The centre of the dosa is fluffy and soft and the outer sides are crispy and paper-thin. The dosa is soaked in Ghee. The taste is amazing. Please plan a visit to this place and enjoy the different varieties of dosas. Onion dosa is also a favourite here.

Avani is a small village in Mulabaagilu taluk, Kolar district in Karnataka, India, about ten miles from Kolar Gold Fields. The village is located at 32 km from Kolar. It is a popular location for rock climbing and the Hill is known AVANI BETTA. It takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hrs from bangalore depending on where you stay in the city.
The trek is very easy and can be easily done by anybody unless they have any serious medical conditions. The view from top is amazing and I personally love places which are not crowded at all. Avani betta is a good destination for a very easy Trek from Bangalore.

Someshwara Temple, Kurudumale, Mulbagal
Kurudumale is a village in the Mulbagal taluk, Kolar district of Karnataka state, India. It is located about 10 km from the mulubagal town, northerly. The giant, thirteen and a half foot sculpture of kurudumale Ganesha and the Someshwara temple of lord Shiva attract thousands of visitors from the surrounding states. This place was believed to be the place where Devas would descend from the heavens for recreation on earth.
There is another temple dedicated to Shiva called the Someshwara temple which is also situated in Kurudumale. The interesting thing about this temple is that it is built of a rock without any foundations. Another interesting thing is the architectural style of the temple; this temple is considered to be older than the Ganesha temple and was built during the Cholas period. Half of the temple has different style of carving, believed to have been done by artist Jakanachari and the other half is believed to have been carved by his son Dankanachari. The part of the temple supposedly built by Dankana's has statues and carvings which are more intricate and sophisticated.

Madhava Tirtha Mutt and Dhanvantri Temple, Mulubagal, Karnataka.
Video taken on 18.10.2019. This video shows the Dhanvantri Temple constructed by Madhava Tirtha Mutt. The temple is situated in the middle of Mulubagal town. Madhava Tirtha Mutt is one of the Mutts under Madhwa system of philosophy and this Mutt is also known as Tumbehalli Mutt. The temple complex also has the Moola Brindavanas of Sri Pragya Madhava Tirtha and Sri Veera Madhava Tirtha, who were the saints of Madhava Tirtha Mutt.

Kurudumale, a sacred place near Mulbagal is one of the important tourist destinations in Kolar district. Kurudumale is located at a distance of 10 km from Mulbagal. It is believed that, Kurudumale is the place where Devas would descend from the heavens for recreation on earth.
Kurudumale is famous for the Lord Ganesha temple built by Vijayanagar rulers. The ganesha temple in Kurudumale is considered to be very powerful. As per the legends, the idol of Lord Ganesh in the Ganesh Temple was installed by Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara (Lord Shiva).
The giant 13.5 ft idol of kurudumale Ganesha attracts thousands of visitors from the surrounding states.
Half of the temple has different style of carving, believed to have been done by the legendary artist Jakanachari and the other half is believed to have been carved by his son Dankanachari.
