Solo Hike on the Nakasendo Trail | Japan's Legendary Trail from Kyoto to Tokyo | 中山道

Join me on this solo adventure along the Nakasendo Trail (中山道)! Though off the beaten path from Japan's typical tourist destinations, if you like the outdoors/nature/hiking, this trail is something you have to visit!

For a full blog post on this hike plus FREE downloads of trail maps and guidebooks, see here:

00:00 Nakasendo Intro
02:17 Tsumago Castle Ruins
03:35 Tsumago Post Town
09:37 Odaki & Medaki Waterfalls
15:15 Magome Post Town
16:20 Guest House Motomiya
19:10 Stone Pavement of Ochiai
21:09 Ochiai Post Town
21:57 Nakatsugawa Station

In the Edo period, the Nakasendo was one of the few walking routes that connected Edo (Tokyo) and Kyoto. At that time there were 69 post towns scattered along the way for travelers to rest. On my journey, I stopped by two of the most preserved ones: Tsumago and Magome!

While you can walk the 12-mile portion I walked (Nagiso Station to Nakatsugawa Station) in one day, I highly recommend staying overnight in Magome. The guest houses in the post towns are used to passing travelers and serve wonderful dinners and breakfasts to help replenish your energy. It's a great way to experience traditional Japan!

Guest House Motomiya:

My luck with the weather was less than optimal, but that didn't take away from the beautiful scenery one bit. I hope you enjoy this video and please be sure to like and subscribe!

Incredible visuals of Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto Japan | BillyTravels Day 10

Seriously I’m happy to have every single one of you join me. I know Its not a big number compared to a lot of youtubers, but its amazing to see the support and get that feedback from you guys. Kyoto’s Fuhimi Inari shrine was a fantastic place for visuals. I wish I had more time there to document all the dope things to see. Nara’s Todaiji temple and the deer was incredible. I don’t think I’ve seen deer so densely populated in one place before. and out of all the urban sprawl in Asia, I think I liked Osaka and the views of Umeda sky building the best. It felt really cozy to be there. Japan is just stunning to see. Definitely go if you ever have a chance.

Kyoto Travel Tips | Japan Budget Travel Guide

Watch this before you travel to Kyoto, Japan for some of the best tips and advice on places to eat, sights to see, things to do, places to stay and more. All while on a budget.

Come join us in part one of our adventure in Kyoto where we visit the Nishiki Market, Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and the Yasaka Shrine in the Gion District.

First, we visit the Nishiki Market, which is known as Kyoto's Kitchen. Make sure to come here with a very large appetite! There are five blocks with more than 100 shops and restaurants. It's a very lively, busy market. There's so much food to choose from, and a lot of it is affordable. Make sure to check the hours before you go because we almost missed it!

On our second day in Kyoto, we visit go to the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. This shrine is famous for the hundreds of red gates. It is so beautiful. Admission is free! This is one of my favorite shrines we visited in Kyoto. It is so beautiful. It was extremely busy when we were there, and it was only about ten in the morning. It opens at six in the morning, so my advice is to go as early as possible.

Next, we head to the Gion District, which is the most famous Geisha area. There are teahouses, restaurants, shrines and much more. We went here mainly to visit some shrines.
First, we visit the Yasaka Shrine. You will see a lot of people dressed in Kimonos here. It's really cool because you can rent a kimono to wear for the day. This makes for amazing pictures at the shrines. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to rent one. Check online for the many places you can rent one for the day.

We continue our journey in Kyoto in my next vlog, but that is all for this one. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!

JAPAN Side Trip 2021-08-10 | Motonosumi Inari Shrine in Nagato City Yamaguchi Japan

DATE: August 10, 2021
LOCATION: Motonosumi Inari Shrine, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan
GOOGLE MAP:

#sightseeing #MotonosumiInariShrine #Motonosumi #yamaguchi #japan #japansidetrip

Motonosumi Shrine is a shrine located in Yuyatsuo, Nagato City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The old name is Motonosumi Inari Shrine (original Sumii Narijinja). It is the property of an individual, not a religious corporation or any other legal entity. Therefore, it does not belong to the Association of Shinto Shrines or the Yamaguchi Prefecture Association of Shinto Shrines.

Overview

In 1955 (Showa 30), a white fox appeared at the bedside of Hitoshi Okamura, who was a local Amimoto, and was erected as Motonosumi Inari Shrine when he was told that I should be enshrined here. .. In addition to prosperous business, big catches, and maritime safety, it is said that it is gaining the faith of the local people as a great god of good luck, child treasure, good luck, good luck, traffic safety, and academic achievement. In addition, although it is Inari Shrine, it has nothing to do with Taikodani Inari Shrine (Tsuwano Town, Shimane Prefecture), which uses the characters Inari Shrine.

Looking down from the shrine to the Sea of Japan side, there is Ryugu no Shiofuki where you can see the phenomenon that seawater blows up with the air inside every time a rough wave hits the sea cave under the cliff, and between the shrines 1987 123 vermilion torii gates dedicated over 10 years from 1987 are lined up over 100 meters from the Ryugu. In addition, it is said that the money box, which is said to be the most difficult to put in Japan, is installed in the upper center of the Odorii gate (about 5m in height) near the exit of the back approach, and if you can throw in the money, your wish will come true.

It was selected as one of the Japan's 31 most beautiful places announced in March 2015 by CNN, an American news broadcasting station. As a result of this, the number of tourists including foreigners worshiped rapidly, but the long company name was difficult for foreigners to understand, so the company name was changed to Motonosumi Shrine in January 2019.

According to the Association of Shinto Shrines, the name change of the shrine is basically not renamed, but the company has not consistently held the status of a religious corporation since its foundation. Therefore, since it is not an organization covered by the Association of Shinto Shrines and is a private business that does not acquire any legal personality, it is free to change its name, and the treatment of torii gates, etc. is positioned as the private property of the Okamura family.

It is said that the name change had been under consideration for about two years, and in January 2018 (Heisei 30), it was decided to be Motonosumi Shrine after hearing God's announcement in the fortune telling.

Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto | The Must See Spot In Japan

Fushimi Inari was for sure my favorite thing in Kyoto, Japan. I went early to avoid the crowds as this is a very popular place for tourists and Japanese people to visit. The gates were all different sizes and had a date and name inscribed on the back. It took me about 2 hours to get up and down the mountain, it was amazing the whole way.

Japan Travel: Korakuen Okayama's main attraction Beautiful landscape garden Okayama10 Moopon

Japan Travel: Korakuen Okayama's main attraction Beautiful landscape garden Okayama10 Moopon

Korakuen is a beautiful landscape garden and Okayama's main attraction. Along with Kanazawa's Kenrokuen and Mito's Kairakuen, Korakuen is ranked as one of Japan's three best landscape gardens. It is located just beside Okayama Castle, which can be seen from the garden as borrowed scenery.

The local feudal lord ordered the construction of Korakuen in 1687 as a place of entertainment for the ruling family and a location for receiving important guests. Occasionally, the public was permitted to enter the garden.
In 1884, a few years after the end of the feudal era, Korakuen became the property of Okayama Prefecture and was opened to the public. The garden suffered damage from floods in 1934 and bombing during the war, but it has always been restored to its original state thanks to the accurate records kept by the garden's designers.

Korakuen is a spacious garden that incorporates the typical features of a Japanese landscape garden, including a large pond, streams, walking paths and a hill that serves as a lookout point. Rather unique for a Japanese garden, however, are Korakuen's spacious lawns. Also found in the garden are groves of plum, cherry and maple trees, tea and rice fields, an archery range and a crane aviary.
Korakuen is about 1.5 kilometers or a 25-30 minute walk east of Okayama Station. Trams on the Higashiyama Line can be taken to Shiroshita stop (5 minutes, 100 yen, frequent departures) from where the garden's south gate can be reached in a 10-15 minute walk. Alternatively, a bus runs between Okayama Station and Korakuen-mae bus stop (20 minutes, 140 yen, every 15-25 minutes), which is located just beside the garden's main gate.

Note that there are two entrances to Korakuen: a main gate beside the Prefectural Museum and a south gate near the bridge that crosses to Okayama Castle.

Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto, Japan (伏見稲荷大社) ⛩️ | Hiking Kyoto's 10,000 Red Gates!

Another Kyoto must-visit! We woke up early to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto, Japan. This is the famed shrine with 10,000 red gates lining a path through the wooded forest of Mount Inari. The shrine is dedicated to Inari (伏見稲荷大社), the Shinto god of rice agriculture, but he is also worshipped by those in business. The foxes seen throughout the shrine are regarded as Inari's messengers - one of them holds a key in his mouth symbolizing the keys to the rice granary. The red torii gates along the entire trail, are all donations by both individuals and companies. Also, if this place looks familiar, you probably recognize it from the movie 'Memoirs of a Geisha'!

Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社) is a must-visit attraction in Kyoto, Japan. As one of the most iconic Instagram worthy places to visit in Kyoto (and all of Japan) we'd highly recommend waking up as early as possible to visit before it becomes impossibly busy with crowds. The earlier you get there the more likely you will have opportunities to snap photos without other people being in them. Furthermore, the further up you hike the more you have Fushimi Inari Taisha (伏見稲荷大社) to yourself.

Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto, Japan (伏見稲荷大社) ⛩️ | Hiking Kyoto's 10,000 Red Gates!

Hey guys! We are Samuel and Audrey, a vlogging travel couple from Canada. In this travel channel, we share our travel and food vlogs while touring the world. Our most recent trip was to Japan where we spent 2 months travelling around the country and visiting the following destinations: Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Nikko, Takayama, Yokohama, Odaiba, Shirakawa-gō and Takao.

During our stay, we visited a mixture of big cities and small rural towns, where we enjoyed eating Japanese street food, trying traditional Japanese cuisine, visiting local attractions and staying in unique accommodations (such as capsule hotels and ryokans) that we are now going to share with you on this channel. The combination and contrast of visiting futuristic cities and traditional countryside areas is what makes travel to Japan so fascinating. Ultra modern versus traditional. This is the essence of Japan.

Our trip to Japan was unforgettable and until now it is one of our favourite countries that we have come to know. However, we only feel as though we just scratched the surface on this trip to Japan. If you want to see more videos from Japan in the future, let us know in the comments that places you'd like us to travel to and food experiences you would like to see on this travel channel.

Have you travelled to Japan before? What was your experience like? Please share your Japan travel tips, advice and experiences in the comments below.

Thanks again for watching our Japan series! Until next time!
