Q: How long was the trip?
A: Around 18 days. But I would say it's doable in 2 weeks. If you want more time to explore then 3 weeks should be more than adequate.
Q: How many days do I need in each city?
A: I would say 3-5 days in Kyoto and Osaka. Nara 1-2 days. At least 4-6 days in Tokyo but the more the better.
Q: How much did it cost?

Roppongi Hills Mori Tower Sky Deck | Things to Do in TOKYO
Roppongi Hills Mori Tower is a 54-story skyscraper.
The rooftop observation deck, called the Sky Deck, is 270 meters above sea level and overlooks the city of Tokyo.
On the east side, you can see Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Sky Tree, and on the west side, if the weather is good, you can see Mt. Fuji.

I am a sucker for view decks and boy am I obsessed with this one! Come with me as I enjoy the view from Roppongi Hills Mori Tower: Tokyo City View. I'm this close to getting an annual pass! I can stay up there for hours. Crazy? Not really. I went up to the view deck at 2:30 and came down at 7:00. Highly committed to this view deck? YES!
