The hiking culture in Belgium is REAL!
Multiday trekking in endless forests is my thing. However, there are crazy people aswel who can hike for hours without stopping. They're the ones walking 50 kilometers a day and creating hikes like the 'dodentocht' and Steps On Fire.
Last year, I stepped out of my comfort zone and joined some friends in the annual Steps On Fire Hike. While I didn't find endless forests, I found the most pleasant atmosphere to hike in!
Due to a pandemic, the annual hike couldn't be organized. So Steps On Fire created loops around the trainstation line Antwerpen-Mol to keep us hikers from the 'Kempen' happy. Klein Molleke, the smallest, is one of them and perfect for an afternoon stroll.

Vlaamse WalkTrip Ep 10 Lommel - Mol. Vaarwel Limburg, Hallo Antwerpen!
Ik kan niet geloven dat we al aan nummer 10 zijn... En op deze tiende episode zeggen we vaarwel aan Limburg want we wandelen het Antwerps territorium binnen. Schone wandeling! echt waar, De Lommelse Sahara is een plek dat je echt zelf eens moet gaan ontdekken. Na deze Sahara wandelde ik langst het kanaal Bocholt Herentals zo het natuurreservaat van De Maat in. Met de vele kempische meren rondom mij, echt prachtig. (ben er nog steeds wa stil van) vervolgens wandelde ik langst het kanaal naar Kwaadmechelen (verbinding tussen het Albertkanaal en Kanaal Bocholt Herentals) zo het stadscentrum van Mol binnen.
22 kilometer gewandeld.

Virtual Walk in Geel (Belgium 4K)
Visit the small town of Geel.
Geel is ideally located for a Daytrip if you visit Antwerpen or Mechelen. A Daytrip can also be combined with visit of Herentals and Lier, since all lies on the same train trajectory.
Unfortunately due to Covid-Restriction the city is very empty and feels a bit abandoned and sad.

we went for 2 days and really we spent good time out there. my son really enjoyed. supermarket, restaurant all available inside so nothing to worry. if in case you forgot something , easily you will get there.
clean well maintained rooms, showers, washroom, drinkable water tape all available.
They have 2 gates, 1 for day outing and another for Camping. make sure if you have reservation to stay then go to 2nd gate. second gate is for camping check in.
we are staying in Geel. so zilvermeer is 23km distance from Geel, Belgium. if you go by car hardly it will take 30mins. we went by public transport, so, geel to Mol, and then mol to Rauw Bus.
Bus frequencies are good too.
