Comăneşti, is a town in Bacău County, Romania. It is situated on the Trotuş River, which flows between the Ciuc and the Tarcău mountains (10 km) of its course pass through Comăneşti. The town administers two villages, Podei and Vermeşti. The area of the town of Comăneşti has been inhabited since the Neolithic period - Neolithic remains were found in the Vermeşti area of the town. The name is derived from the Cumans who once ruled the region. Its first written record dates from 1657, and its first presence on a map from the 1696 Sanson Map. From the late 18th century onwards, the town was in the domain of the Ghica family of boyars, who remained an important presence in the area until the middle of the 20th century. The Ghica Palace (now housing the local museum), the park in front of the museum, and the railway stations are testimonies to their presence in the town.

TRASEUL SPRE CABANA MALAIESTI - CEA MAI FRUMOASA CABANA DIN MUNTII BUCEGI
După aproximativ două ore de urcat prin pădure apare dintr-o dată Cabana Mălăiești înconjurată de munți, parcă am ajuns in altă lume! Am început traseul din Râșnov, strada Glăjăriei Râul Mare, o urcare destul de obositoare prin pădure până la Cabana Mălăiești, iar în continuare, prin Căldarea Mălăiești am urcat în Brâna Caprelor unde peisajul a fost absolut minunat.
Planul ar fi fost să ajungem la Vârful Omu dar cu o zi înainte am urcat la Vârful la Om (cel mai înalt vârf din Munții Piatra Craiului), un traseu de 21 de km, extrem de extenuant, așa că eram puțin cam obosiți pentru traseul complet. Oricum, și pe acest traseu am reușit să facem 26 de km dar a meritat fiecare pas, și ne vom întoarce în curând să cucerim și acest varf.

Transylvania, Romania | Walking around Făgăraș Fortress, Brașov County
Făgăraș Fortress is located right in the center of the city with the same name (Făgăraș) in Brașov County. Its position is strategically placed at the halfway of the commercial road between Brașov and Sibiu. The first documents attesting the existence of the citadel date back to 1455, but the construction of the stone-made fortress was started in 1310, replacing an older fortification of earth and wood from the 12th century. The Făgăraș Fortress was built with tall and thick walls and, surrounded by a moat filled with water to defend Southern Transylvania from the powerful attacks of the Tartars and the Ottomans. In spite of the fact that the Făgăraș Fortress was attacked many times, it has never been conquered throughout its history.
In 1599, The Ruler Prince of Wallachia, Mihai Viteazul (Michael the Brave) gifted the fortress to his wife, Stanca. Becoming also the Prince of Transylvania, he sheltered his family and even his treasury here.
In the seventeenth century, the Făgăraş Fortrtess was the residence of the Transylvanian princes.

New Year’s Eve, the period before and after it, is a time strewn with traditions and customs deeply rooted in the history and culture of the Balkan countries. More than that, one can certainly say that December is a month of unique traditions, for which many regions in Romania are recognized all over the world.
In today’s Romania, the Bears from Comănești Sipoteni still dance to the rhythms of the drum with the same crazy frenzy as always and still gather around them thousands of tourists from all over the world.
Every year, the Bear Dancers prepare several months in advance for the specific dances of this tradition????The beating of the drums, which is also meant to drive away evil spirits, is the traditional one from the Trotuș River Valley and evokes the regeneration of nature, the passing of the seasons and the power of the bear that dies during the dance and then resurrects. The death and resurrection of the bear suggest its strong ability to overcome the harsh winter and herald the coming of spring.
Despite the strange and sometimes difficult times we lived through and maybe still have to cope with, these traditions have not disappeared from Romania, and the cultural heritage of the Balkans is richer also thanks to the people who have kept these traditions alive in their souls.
