Kyoto Hidden Spots: One Of Japan's Three Best Scenic Views
Amanohashidate sandbar is an off the beaten path place you can visit when travelling to Kyoto.
Kyoto is one of the top destinations people travel to when coming to Japan, however with more and more tourists coming in each year and going to the same tourist spots, it's hard to enjoy Kyoto without having to be surrounded by crowds.
So, if you are like me and you want to enjoy travelling away from the big crowds then try going to Amanohashidate in the northern part of Kyoto.
There are trains and direct buses departing from Kyoto and Osaka and the best part is you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Japanese countryside.

Hearing the phrase, some of you might feel strange.
But in fact, that exists in the northern part of Kyoto.
A couple months ago, we visited some places that have been slept on our old bucket list for a long time. They are Ine No Funaya and Amanohashidate in northern Kyoto.
Last year, I posted two travel videos about Kyoto, but definitely, you can see more different sides of the city here in the Tango peninsula.
The natural land bridge created over thousands of years and a small fishing village with a collection of boathouses built right on the water.
I’m so glad to finally share with you our wonderful experiences and showcase the beauty of Kyoto by the sea. Have fun!

In this episode, we visited Miyazu-City in Kyoto Prefecture.
Needless to say, it is the best known place for tourist attraction and
one of the Japanese three most scenic spots called Amanohashidate.Overwhelmed by the superb view that takes our breath away,
it also surrounds us with very nostalgic sceneries.
A city that made us feel the kindness of people, the warmth of people.
While looking at historical buildings during a walk at night burning into our memories,
we remember the enjoyable drinks we had.
Hope I can portray the thoughtfulness and the absolute smiles they had at the hotel.

Amanohashidate Beach | Miyazu Japan | Best Japanese Beaches | 天橋立
The Amanohashidate Beach (天橋立), is a beautiful, three kilometer long isthmus that spans the mouth of Miyazu Bay in northern Kyoto Prefecture. Amanohashidate roughly translates to bridge in heaven, and it is said that the sandbar resembles a meandering pathway connecting heaven and earth when it is viewed from the mountains at either end of the bay. This famous view has been admired for centuries, and is counted among Japan's three most scenic views alongside Miyajima and Matsushima.
天橋立海水浴場は、京都府北部の宮津湾の河口に広がる、長さ 3 km の美しい地峡です。天橋立とは「天の橋」を意味し、湾の両端の山々から眺めると、中州が天と地を結ぶ曲がりくねった道のように見えると言われています。古くから愛され続けているこの名景は、宮島、松島と並んで日本三景に数えられています。
BRIDGE TO HEAVEN (Amanohashidate) | Miyazu, Kyoto
Amanohashidate is a sandbar in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture. Amanohashidate roughly translates as bridge to heaven because it looks like a path connecting the land and sky when viewed upside down (hence the tradition to view it through your legs).
The south side of the sandbar has Viewland - an amusement park with some viewing platforms. The north side has Kasamatsu Park which is a more nature-y park with more viewing platforms.
It really is a beautiful place and worth a visit if in Kyoto Prefecture. It's in the town of Miyazu (which I accidentally said Amanohashidate for in the video), about 2 hours on the train north of Kyoto city.

Amanohashidate “Bridge to Heaven” in Miyazu, Kyoto-Japan.
I have been to Amanohashidate area a few times. It's a bit of a drive from Kyoto City, well worth it though. It's a lovely area located on the Japan Sea dotted with temples, historical spots, onsen and breathtaking views along the shoreline.
We explored some of the temples and shrines in the vicinity and ended our day at the Nariai-ji temple on Mount Tsuzumigatake. On the top is the Benten'yama tenbō-dai an observation deck with a view of Miyazu Bay, Amanohashidate and the Asoumi Sea.
On this occasion, we stayed at Hotel Kitanoya along the shoreline and not so far from the Chion-ji Temple. They have rooms with a view of the ocean and a small wooden tub outdoors for each room. Excellent food and service mean a wonderful relaxing evening.
If you have lots of time on your hands, the nearby Boat Houses of Ine Village are well worth visiting. On top of a hill is the Funaya no Sato Park with a splendid view of Ine bay. There is a restaurant there that I can Hartley recommend.

Amanohashidate/One of the Three Views of Japan Kyoto
Amanohashidate, located in Miyazu Bay on the Sea of Japan in the northern part of Kyoto Prefecture, is one of the three scenic spots in Japan, along with Mutsu's Matsushima and Aki's Miyajima. The width is about 20-170m and the total length is about 3.6km. It is a sandy beach with a rare terrain with about 5000 pine trees and its shape looks like a bridge over the sky. The name Amanohashidate was added.
Many people come to see the mysterious shapes created by nature over the thousands of years.
To enjoy Amanohashidate, not only the view from the observatory, but also the way to enjoy nature such as walking in Amanohashidate, riding a bicycle or boat, or swimming at the beach.

Best places to visit in Kyoto, the historical heart of Japan.
This short film shows you the highlights of a recent visit to Kyoto which is the ancient heart of Japan. The city has many old temples and palaces. Besides this, there is a great vibe that surrounds Kyoto and basically everyone who has visited this place absolutely loves it.
Some of the main sights that can be seen here include Kiyomuzidera temple, Yasaka pagoda, Higashiyama, Sanmon gate, Heian shrine, Yoshida shrine, Philosopher's path, Old imperial palace, Ni-jo castle, Bamboo trail, Fusjimi Inari temple and its most recognizable sight, the Golden temple.
Summers are incredibly hot, so best to visit in spring or fall. Visit Kyoto and you won't be disappointed.

Miyazu City is located in the north-west of Maizuru and east of Kyo-Tango. The city was flourished with fish industries. It is widely known for Amano Hashidate which is designated as one of the three greatest scenic land formations in Japan. It is a long strip of island connecting the bay area of north and south of Yosano-cho. This formation of island is best seen by the top of the hill around this area. On the east of Amanohashidate is Awata Peninsula where you can see a rare land formation of saw-toothed shoreline. There is a highland called Seya in the east of Awata toward the mountain. The fascinating landscape of the region has been selected by various Japanese films. Amano Hashidate offers light up illumination in mid-July provided with sound effect of background music.
Amano hashidate is widely known as one of the three greatest scenic beauties of Japan. This strip of land with a stretch of 3.3 km connects south and north shore of Miyazu Bay. The land is covered with a landscape of more than 7,000 pine trees with sand beaches along the shore. The beauty of Amano Hashidate was depicted in many different art works from ancient times. It was also a symbolic image of 10 yen postal stamp issued in Japan. You can traverse cross the land to the other side on foot

Amanohashidate - one of Japan's Three Great Views - is a sandbar in the north of Kyoto prefecture, near the city of Miyazu.
The long and narrow stretch of land divides the sea and the lagoon with the river estuary. More than 5000 pine trees grow on the sandbar, some of which stand there at least since the Edo period.
Amanohashidate have cultural importance for japanese people, numerously mentioned in poetry and depicted in art.

Directions:
Driving here on car is the most convenient way to get here, but public transport is also available. From JR Kyoto station you may take Special Rapid Express Hashidate, that is going straight to Amanohashidate station. Alternatively you can use only local trains and transfer in Ayabe and Nishi-Maizuru stations - it's half the price but can take up to 3.5 hours, so it isn't really advisable. Finally there is inter-city bus services connecting Amanohashidate both with Kyoto and Osaka, check the schedule.
