Japanese Town You Must Visit | Takayama
This video shows some of the highlights of visiting Takayama in Gifu prefecture, Japan. We visited Japan in spring of 2019 and stayed in an Airbnb in the historic district of Takayama Japan for three nights. Compared to the busy cities of Kyoto and Tokyo, Takayama was quiet, much less crowded and rivals other historic cities with its impressive old Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples and beautiful surrounding mountainous nature.

長良川の支流、岐阜県山県市尾並坂峠に源を発し、関市千疋で長良川に合流する一級河川武儀川は、日本屈指の清流として知られています。鮎が美味しい川として知られ、全国各地の清流が育んだ鮎の塩焼きの味を食べ比べる「清流めぐり利き鮎会」第19回大会（2016年）で準グランプリを獲得しています。
この武儀川に沿って走る道は、日本屈指の”酷道”路線で知られる国道418号です。山県市と本巣市の境にある標高333mの尾並坂峠を越えていきます。
一帯は清流と美林に囲まれた、のどかな山村風景が広がっていますが、日本屈指の活断層帯である濃尾断層帯の一部、武儀川断層が走っています。1891年の濃尾地震を引き起こしたとされる、平行して走る根尾谷断層は有名ですが、この武儀川断層もマグニチュード7.3クラスの地震の震源地となる可能性が指摘されています（政府地震調査研究推進本部）。
今回は、418号単独区間である美濃加茂インターから根尾板所の国道157号交点までの区間を収録しました。道路改良が進められていますが、山間部は1～1.5車線区間が残っており、これから向かう温見峠越えの道を彷彿とさせる狭隘箇所も所々にあります。
