Take State Road 50 west from Orlando into Lake County and you’ll reach the “gem of the hills.” The city of Clermont was founded in the 1880s, a heritage on full display through a series of original structures on the banks of Lake Minneola.
Dominating one of the most prominent hills in the area is the 50’s-era Florida Citrus Tower. This 226-foot-tall tribute to the region’s citrus industry provides a bird’s eye view of the landscape which has evolved from orange groves to modern-day housing developments.
While an observation tower might be the city’s biggest claim to fame, the historic downtown area has become a destination for local foodies. With several food halls and vendor markets occupying space on and near Montrose Street and other locally-owned brick and mortars, historic Clermont has become one of our favorite places to hang out on a Saturday.

We visit some fun things to do near Orlando, Florida besides theme parks!
We spend some time visiting Florida attractions in and around Clermont, near Orlando, Florida. There are so many things to do in Florida besides theme parks and we love finding them!
We start the day by visiting Showcase of Citrus, which is a brilliant and quirky central Florida attraction. We then head to downtown Clermont, walking alongside the lakeshore. Afterwards, we go to one of Florida's oldest attractions - the Citrus Tower, near Clermont. From the Citrus Tower we can see all the way to Walt Disney World and downtown Orlando.
If you enjoy seeing what there is to do in Orlando besides theme parks, I hope this has given you some ideas for your next trip!

Road trip down Minnesota’s North Shore | Bean and Bear Lakes, Tettegouche State Park, Pie, & MORE!

ABOUT US
We are Jed and Sandy Hall, the creators of Wanderful Revolution. Jed was born in a small town on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and Sandy was born and raised in Maryland. We met in Washington State, while serving our country in the United States Navy. After separating from military service, we both went back to school and became nurses, which ultimately led to us selling our home in 2015 and hitting the road as travel nurses working in Emergency Departments throughout the USA.
During our travels, we lived in an Airstream travel trailer and made it our goal to become debt free. At the beginning of 2020, we paid off the last of our debts and quit our jobs so we could follow our long time dream of traveling the world. Of course, COVID-19 brought us to a screeching halt. So, we decided to build out a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter van, which we plan to drive on one of the longest road trips in the world: the Pan-American highway from Alaska to the tip Argentina (and possibly beyond).
We are excited and very fortunate to be able to live this amazing lifestyle! So, we want to share it with you! Join us to check out some amazing places, go on exciting adventures, eat delicious food, and perhaps learn some tips and tricks about living full-time in a van.
