Welcome back to our channel! In this video we visit a garden located upstate in Millbrook, NY called the Innisfree Garden.
This garden is a hidden gem tucked away in the Hudson Valley and has earned the title of one of the world's 10 best gardens. The Innisfree Garden was once an oasis for artists, Walter and Marion Beck up until 1960. And the landscape architect Lester Collins was the genius behind it all.
Innisfree can bout found around a 40-acre lake, a great background from any point of view in the garden. Some gardens are easier to find than others, but that is the beauty of it, it allows for more exploration!

I'm always on the hunt for great scenic drives, even in New Jersey. After doing much research I realized the back roads I know are better than any scenic drive suggestions I've found across a multitude of travel guides. This week I share that knowledge with a 4K-hyperlapse and mini-travel guide on a route from The Delaware Water Gap to High Point.
Highlights include several stops along the Delaware River, two historical villages, Stokes State Forest, and High Point State Park. Each road is wonderful - from four-lane highways to single lane dirt roads, the foliage is popping and the views are lovely.

Getting out of my car after heading through Poughkeepsie, Pleasant Valley and Salt Point on Route 44, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As I winded down the road leading into Innisfree Garden in Millbrook NY, I was aware that my path into the woods had really begun. Given mental images of beautiful landscapes and far eastern landscape design, a friend of mine recently told me, “There is this beautiful place that would be perfect for one of your Relaxin’ segments.” He was right! Innisfree Garden has been recognized as one of the world's ten best gardens, and today I was going to gaze upon ... well, I wasn't sure but was soon to find out.
Getting Started With the Tour
Begin the walk from the visitor location, where you pay your admission fee of $10 for the General Public ($5 for seniors, and children 4-12). Just a note, Innisfree Garden is open five days a week starting in May, Wednesday through Sunday, and holidays from 10 am to 5 pm. Guests are asked to exit by closing time, and expect to take about 90 minutes to tour the location, and even longer (like myself) if you keep diving into the many sights to behold. It is an outdoor hike, so I brought the proper footwear, and though there are paths, they aren’t paved and exploring the Garden can require some additional physical exertion. The Walk:
I headed toward the sight of Tyrrel Lake and began at the entrance of the Bog Garden, following along as I passed by beautiful Lip Rock Waterfall and the East Rock Garden. Going up the Stones Steps was just one of the deviations I could take, and many of them I did. I could give you every inch of my walk by the Lotus Pool, Tiptoe Rock or even The Point, but instead, check out the video and pictures for just a taste of what you will see. (Psst. WOW Factor:
As I get older, I find that my appreciation not just for beautiful things, but also the work and effort that goes into making them becomes much more profound. Innisfree Garden is a place where you can walk and appreciate the artistry but also can absorb yourself into the landscape. You could enjoy a day on an Adirondack chair, bring a book, or a sketch pad, and become immersed and inspired.

48 Hours In Dutchess County, New York State Road Trip, USA

Our USA vacation and we are exploring New York State.
For the first time, we headed out of New York City and followed the Hudson River up to Dutchess County, New York.
We drove from JFK to Dutchess county which was a simple one and half to two-hour drive north. Although it was cloudy it stayed dry and we missed the intense heat which affected the US open tennis a few days before our visit.
Our first stop was at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome which was holding their weekly airshow before we headed off to try some bourbon.
Dutchess County has some good wine and we did visit a couple of the vineyards - Millbrook vineyard and Clinton vineyard. As well as good wine the food was pretty good too.
There is a lot of US history around the Hudson Valley and in Dutchess County, it was the home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. We visited Staatsburgh State Historic Site and the Mills mansion, which was the Gilded Age country home of Ogden Mills and Ruth Livingston Mills.
We stayed in the Red Hook Country Inn and the historic Old Rhinebeck Inn which are both very different to the bland corporate style hotels.
We spent 48 hours in Dutchess County and only had a brief taste of what there is to do in the county but there is far more to see and do. It is definitely worth a trip out of New York, just follow that river north.

Today we are taking a sunset horseback trailride through the fantastic trails at Millbrook Trailrides in Millbrook, Illinois. Our amazing tour guide was Meredith. She took us on an amazing adventure through cornfields, rivers, the forest, and of course through some amazing fields. The horses were magnificently behaved and such an incredible feeling to feel so confident on such an astoundingly powerful creature. A hike along the Millbrook Mountain Path to the summit of Millbrook Mountain in Minnewaska State Park Preserve in New York.
