Op mijn man zijn 74 ste verjaardag vandaag trokken we er een dagje op uit. Vandaag trokken we naar Vilvoorde, vandaar naar de luchthaven in Zaventem, dan naar Merchtem en terug huiswaarts.

Vandaag, op 10 december 2022 trok voor de tweede maal een verlichte tractorparade door de straten van Groot-Merchtem. Start om 18:00 u in Peizegem - Leireken. Aankomst voorzien rond 21u aan de Feestzaal-Brussegem . Het was de moeite waard. Wij gingen een kijkje nemen bij voor en bij het vertrek.

op wandel in Brussel
Voor ons tweede dagje op rij, trokken we naar Brussel. Deze keer deden we een wandeling langs het water richting Molenbeek, om vandaar een wandeling te maken langs het kanaal , waar mijn ventje jaren gewerkt had in Avenue du Port. Na een wandeling te maken in het park van Tour en Taxis, namen we terug de bus naar huis.

For our second day in a row, we headed to Brussels. This time we did a walk along the water towards Molenbeek, and from there a walk along the canal, where my husband had worked for years in Avenue du Port. After a walk in the park of Tour en Taxis, we took the bus back home.

Wat een prachtige herfstdag vandaag. Tijd om te genieten van een uitstapje naar de prachtige stad Mechelen. Daar valt altijd wel iets te beleven en er zijn zoveel mooie dingen om te bezichtigen , dus ga zeker eens een bezoekje brengen aan deze mooie Maneblussersstad. Vanavond was het supergezellig met alle kerstlichtjes die branden.
Vandaag hadden we 14 km op onze teller, dus dat is goed gestapt niet?

Vandaag (10 januari 2020) namen we de bus naar Brussel. Na een uurtje op de bus te hebben doorgebracht kwamen we eindelijk aan in Brussel.
Brussel is de hoofdstad van België, van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap, de Franse Gemeenschap en het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. Is de moeite om eens gaan te bezoeken.

De stad Leuven ligt centraal in België, in de provincie Vlaams-Brabant. Leuven is met ongeveer honderdduizend inwoners een middelgrote stad in België. Het ligt op ruim dertig kilometer van de Belgische hoofdstad Brussel. Leuven heeft de bijnaam ‘Bierhoofdstad van België”. Deze naam is gebaseerd op een tweetal elementen: de aanwezigheid van de Artois-brouwerij (tegenwoordig Anheuser-Busch InBev) en de vele studenten die in Leuven studeren aan de KU Leuven of andere scholen. Op stap in Mechelen
Dit weekend was het warm welkom weekend in Mechelen, dus namen we de trein om een dagje op stap te gaan in Mechelen. Het was een prachtige herfstdag, dus was het genieten geblazen. Vandaag hebben we weeral zoveel andere plaatsen ontdekt, waar we nog niet waren geweest.

Jachthaven van Blankenberge
De oude Blankenbergse vissershaven werd uitgebouwd tot een fraaie, moderne jachthaven waar het tijdens alle seizoenen bijzonder aangenaam toeven is.
Dankzij de aantrekkelijke heraangelegde havenkade en de exclusieve ligging nabij het stadshart, het strand en de duinen is deze jachthaven een unicum aan de Belgische kust. In en rond de moderne jachthaven vind je nog heel wat getuigen uit het maritieme verleden van Blankenberge. Rond de jachthaven kun je ook mooie wandelingen maken.

Een dagje vertoeven in Antwerpen
Deze morgen namen we de trein voor een dagje Antwerpen. Het was al een paar jaartjes geleden door de Coronatijden. Nu vonden we dat het tijd was om deze mooie diamantstad nog eens te gaan bezoeken. Het was vandaag de eerste dag van de lente en het was een zalig weertje. De zon was van de partij en de hemel helderblauw, dus onze dag kon niet meer stuk. Tegen het naar huis gaan, hadden we er een flinke wandeling van 14 km opzitten.
Antwerpen is een stad in het Vlaams Gewest in België. Het is de hoofdstad van de provincie Antwerpen en van het gelijknamige arrondissement. Antwerpen telt circa 529.000 inwoners en is daarmee qua inwonertal de grootste gemeente van België.
Antwerpen is een diamantstad en is de tweede grootste haven van Europa.

Eng: This morning we took the train for a day trip to Antwerp. It had been a few years due to the Corona times. Now we thought it was time to visit this beautiful diamond city again. Today was the first day of spring and the weather was lovely. The sun was out and the sky was a clear blue, so our day was complete. By the time we got home, we had done a good 14 km walk.

Op wandel door Dendermonde
Dendermonde is een stad in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De stad ligt in de driehoek Gent-Brussel-Antwerpen, een van de meest verstedelijkte gebieden van het land. Het is de hoofdplaats van het arrondissement Dendermonde en ligt in de Denderstreek. Alle 10 jaar gaat het Ros Beiaard uit in deze stad. In 2020 is het spijtig genoeg niet kunnen doorgaan door de Coronacrisis.

ENG. Dendermonde is a city in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The city lies in the triangle Ghent-Brussels-Antwerp, one of the most urbanized areas of the country. It is the capital of the arrondissement Dendermonde and is located in the Dender region. Every 10 years the Ros Carillon goes out in this city. Kunstzinnige eekhoorns in Opdorp (Buggenhout)
Binnenkort is het weeral lente op den Dries in Opdorp. Deze voormiddag ben ik terug een kijkje gaan nemen, maar er stonden nog maar een 15 tal eekhoorns. Dus zal nog eens moeten teruggaan. De duizenden narcissen , stonden nu al een beetje open.
Om de twee jaar wordt het prachtige Driesplein in Opdorp omgetoverd in een kunstzinnige kleurrijke openlucht tentoonstelling. Polyesteren beelden bewerkt door particulieren, scholen, verenigingen en instellingen pronken tussen half maart en half april tussen de 100.000 narcissen op de Dries. De allereerste editie startte in 2004 met de kunstzinnige schapen en kregen nadien om de twee jaar een vervolg.
Van zondag 13 maart tot zondag 10 april 2022 zullen de kunstenaars hun kunstzinnige polyesteren werken tussen de lindebomen en de narcissen exposeren.
Niet minder dan 180 gesponsorde eekhoorns zullen de Dries dit jaar sieren. Naar analogie van de vorige jaren konden de sponsors opnieuw kiezen of zij deze zelf bewerken of laten bewerken. Deze prachtige exemplaren zullen opnieuw duizenden kijklustigen van ver over de provinciegrenzen aanbrengen. In het weekend is het hier koppen lopen, wandelaars, fietsers en mensen die een bezoek brengen aan de plaatselijke horecazaken, zakken af naar het “Geografisch Middelpunt van Vlaanderen”.
Er word aan de ouders en kinderen gevraagd van de kunstwerken niet aan te raken en ook de nodige afstand te bewaren. Opletten geblazen tijdens het wandelen zodat men de mooie krokussen niet vertrappeld en pluk zeker geen bloemen.
De officiële opening van de kunstzinnige tentoonstelling is op zondag 13 maart om 10u30 op het kerkplein van Opdorp.

Eng: Soon it will be spring again on den Dries in Opdorp. This morning I went back to take a look, but there were only 15 squirrels left. So I will have to go back again. The thousands of daffodils, were already a bit open.
Every two years, the beautiful Driesplein in Opdorp is transformed into an artistic, colourful open-air exhibition. Between mid-March and mid-April, polyester sculptures made by private persons, schools, associations and institutions show off among the 100,000 daffodils on the Dries. The very first edition started in 2004 with the artistic sheep and was followed up every two years thereafter.
From Sunday 13 March to Sunday 10 April 2022, the artists will exhibit their artistic polyesters between the lime trees and the daffodils.
No fewer than 180 sponsored squirrels will adorn the Dries this year. By analogy with previous years, the sponsors could again choose whether they would edit them themselves or have them edited. These beautiful specimens will again attract thousands of spectators from far beyond the province's borders. In the weekend it is a head-spinning event, with walkers, cyclists and people visiting the local bars and restaurants descending on the Geographical Centre of Flanders.
Parents and children are asked not to touch the works of art and to keep the necessary distance. Be careful where you walk so that you do not trample on the beautiful crocuses and certainly do not pick flowers.
The official opening of the art exhibition is on Sunday, March 13th at 10.30 am on the church square of Opdorp.

Genieten van het prachtig zomerweertje in Blankenberge I deel 1
Bij ons in het binnenland is het veel te warm met temperaturen van rond de 30°, dus besloten we de trein te nemen om een dagje door te brengen aan onze Belgische kust in Blankenberge. En het was schitterend weer daar. We hebben er van genoten. Dit is deel 1 van ons dagje aan zee.

Vilvoorde : Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Goede Hoop
Vooraleer onze wandeling te starten van Basiliek tot basiliek besloten we eerst een bezoekje te brengen aan de Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Goede Hoop in Vilvoorde, ook kortweg Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk, ze is de hoofdkerk van Vilvoorde. Deze gotische kerk dateert uit de 14e-15e eeuw maar bezit nog een noordersacristie uit de 13e eeuw. Het koor en transept werden ontworpen door Adam Gherijs. Van de geplande torens werd allen de noordelijke afgewerkt.
Het rijkversierde, barokke koorgestoelte uit 1663 is afkomstig van de voormalige priorij van Groenendaal. De naturalistische preekstoel komt uit de vroegere Sint-Joriskerk van Antwerpen. Artus Quellinus de Jonge beitelde in 1665 een dynamisch geheel, waar engelen met brede gebaren en golvende gewaden hun innerlijke spanning uitdrukken. De zwevende compositie lijkt te ontsnappen aan de zwaartekracht. Normaal hebben we nog nooit de kans gehad om ze eens te gaan bezichtigen, maar vandaag hadden we meer geluk, de deur stond open, want er moest een huwelijk plaatsvinden.

Before starting our walk from Basilica to Basilica, we decided to pay a visit to the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw van Goede Hoop in Vilvoorde, also known as Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk, which is the main church in Vilvoorde. This Gothic church dates from the 14th-15th century but still has a 13th-century north sacristy. The choir and transept were designed by Adam Gherijs. Of the planned towers, only the northern one was finished.
The richly decorated, baroque choir stalls from 1663 originate from the former Groenendaal priory. The naturalistic pulpit comes from the former St. George's Church in Antwerp. Artus Quellinus the Younger chiselled a dynamic whole in 1665, where angels with broad gestures and undulating robes express their inner tension. The floating composition seems to escape gravity. Normally, we have never had the chance to go and see them, but today we were in luck, as the door was open for a wedding to take place.

Brussel is niet alleen de hoofdstad van het koninkrijk België, maar ook van Europa.
De stad is makkelijk te bereiken en de prijzen zijn er nog klantvriendelijk, ongeacht de leeftijd van de bezoeker. De stad is kosmopolitisch en lekker eten behoort nu eenmaal tot haar tradities. Brussel heeft ook een heel eigen stijl en manier van leven. Soms eigenzinnig en onverzettelijk, dan weer rustig en rationeel, maar altijd even sympathiek. Ondanks de Europese dimensie van de stad en de vele talen die er worden gesproken, heeft Brussel toch een dorpse mentaliteit weten te bewaren. Uiteraard zijn er de Grote Markt, het Atomium, Manneken-Pis, geuze en kriek, Brusselse wafels en pralines... (allemaal musts!). Toch een goede tip: neem ook eens de tijd om de sfeer in de verschillende wijken op te snuiven. Loop bijvoorbeeld eens langs de Dansaertstraat, de Sint-Gorikshallen en het Sint-Katelijneplein. Maak eens een wandeling in wijken zoals Sint- Bonifaas, Kastelein of Flagey... U ontdekt er een bruisend Brussel dat zich goed voelt als historische stad, maar ook als moderne hoofdstad die veel aandacht heeft voor mode, design en creativiteit. Kortom, geniet van Brussel, een stad die het ontdekken absoluut waard is...

Despite the European dimension of the city and the many languages spoken there, Brussels has managed to retain a village mentality. Of course, there is the Grand Place, the Atomium, Manneken-Pis, gueuze and kriek, Brussels waffles and chocolates... (all musts!). But here's a good tip: take the time to soak up the atmosphere in the different neighbourhoods. Take a stroll along Dansaert street, the Sint-Gorikshallen and Sint-Katelijne square. Take a stroll in neighbourhoods like Saint-Boniface, Kastelein or Flagey... You will discover a vibrant Brussels that feels good as a historic city, but also as a modern capital that pays great attention to fashion, design and creativity. In short, enjoy Brussels, a city that is absolutely worth discovering...
