During the winter months, Britain is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and 10 hours behind Sydney. Western standard time is five hours behind.

4. East Park
Hull's largest open space, dog-friendly East Park is a delight to explore. Notable features of this lovely park include an animal compound with deer, wallabies, rheas, and peacocks, as well as a variety of native Australian birds. It also hosts regular concerts and other events such as the Hull Show in warmer weather.
Opened in 1887 to celebrate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, this Grade-II-listed park is a vibrant green space encompassing some 130 acres of parkland. Also well worth a visit is nearby Queens Gardens, with its lovely floral displays, fountains, and ponds.

Highlights of a visit include seeing the home's well-preserved 18th- and 19th-century interiors, including the spectacular staircase, and a rare cabinet of curiosities. Be sure to allocate some time to explore the estate's impressive 300-acre grounds. Afterward, splurge on a memorable afternoon tea.
2. Waters' Edge Country Park & Visitor Centre
Paying a visit and exploring Waters' Edge Country Park & Visitor Centre is one of the best free things to do in Hull. Located on the south bank of the Humber River, this wildlife and nature sanctuary is located just steps away from the Humber Bridge. Yet its proximity to this major Hull attraction doesn't detract from a visit. The views over this remarkable feat of engineering are quite dramatic, especially when framed by the natural setting of the park.
In addition to the fun-to-walk trails and boardwalks, be sure to pop into the Visitor Centre, which features fun activities for kids, as well as a playground. There's also an on-site shop and café.
1. Barton-upon-Humber
The town of Barton-upon-Humber – usually simply referred to as Barton – is just 11 miles from Hull on the south side of the Humber, a trip that involves crossing the Humber Bridge.
Barton is home to the 1,000-year-old St. Peter's Church, notable for its more than 2,800 burials from Anglo-Saxon to Victorian times. Now under the auspices of English Heritage (with limited opening hours), its Anglo-Saxon tower and baptistery have helped make it one of the most studied churches in England.
Other attractions in historic Barton include the Baysgarth House Museum, the Wilderspin National School Museum, and 51 Fleetgate, believed to be the oldest residential house in North Lincolnshire.

Melton Mowbray is a town in Leicestershire, England, 19 miles northeast of Leicester, and 20 miles southeast of Nottingham. The town of Melton Mowbray is on the River Eye and the River Wreake. Melton Mowbray is best known for its culinary speciality, the Melton Mowbray pork pie, and it is one of the six homes of Stilton cheese. Melton Mowbray is promoted as the Rural Capital of Food.
Melton Mowbray is home to Melton cloth (first mentioned in 1823), which is a tight-woven woollen cloth that is heavily milled, and a nap raised so as to form a short, dense, non-lustrous pile. Sailors' pea coats are traditionally made of Melton cloth, the universal workmans' donkey jackets of Britain and Ireland and in North America, loggers' cruising jackets and Mackinaws.
Stilton cheese originated near Melton Mowbray, and is still made in the town today. Stilton cheese takes its name from the village of Stilton in Huntingdonshire, where it was marketed to travellers on the Great North Road, though no Stilton was ever made there. Melton Mowbray pork pies are made with a specific hand-raising process and recipe. On 4 April 2008 the European Union awarded the Melton Mowbray pork pie Protected Geographical Indication status, following a long-standing application made by the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association.
Melton Carnegie Museum is based in Melton Mowbray. The museum has recently been refurbished and visitors can expect a hands on, audio visual family orientated experience showing the history and importance of the town. St Mary's Church, Melton Mowbray is a parish church in the Church of England located in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. By 2016, the church, described as one of the finest parish churches in Leicestershire had fallen into a poor state of repair and was deemed unfit for purpose leading to an appeal for £2m to restore it.
Melton railway station is on the line from Birmingham to Stansted Airport via Leicester, Peterborough and Cambridge. Trains run hourly in either direction. The service is supplemented with additional trains in the peak on route to/from Nottingham, Norwich and Sleaford. The station is managed by East Midlands Trains although most services are operated by CrossCountry. CrossCountry intend to enhance their service gradually to half-hourly on this route. Since early 2009 East Midlands Trains have offered a single daily journey from Melton Mowbray to London St Pancras and return. This is notable for being the first regular passenger service to cross the spectacular and historic Welland Viaduct since 1966. In 2010, the company introduced a single daily journey to Derby and return. The majority of bus services in Melton Mowbray are provided by Centrebus. Services link Melton Mowbray with Leicester, Nottingham, Oakham and other regional centres, as well as many of the surrounding villages.

Melton Mowbray is a lovely town in Leicestershire, England. The town is 19 miles (31 km) north-east of Leicester, and 20 miles (32 km) south-east of Nottingham.
Known as the Rural Capital Of Food, Melton Mowbray is famous for it's fabulous pork pies sold at Dickinson & Morris Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in the town centre. Stilton Cheese is also produced here so you can buy both in the town and at the market!
The town's name of Melton comes from the word medeltone meaning middle town. There are some fantastic landmarks in the Melton Mowbray Town Centre including the wonderful St Mary's Church.

Melton Mowbray
The north-eastern region of Leicestershire County is home to the region's food industry hub. Melton's appeal is primarily derived from its manufacturing of Stilton cheese and pork pies. The relationship between Melton and English royalty extends back to the 1100s, and the town's function as the centre of the Leicestershire Hunt led to the creation of the county's mascot and symbol, the Leicestershire fox.
Market Bosworth
This quiet little market town is hidden away in Leicestershire's verdant countryside. At nearby Bosworth Field, the War of the Roses' pivotal conflict between Richard III and Henry Tudor—who defeated Richard to become Henry VII of England—took place.
Richard III stayed the night at the White Boar Inn in Market Bosworth before the Battle of Bosworth and hid £300 under a false bottom of his bed. It was hidden until Elizabeth I's reign since no one returned to claim it after he was killed in battle the following day. Ironically, due to her wealth, the original landlord's widow was later murdered when he passed away. She had discovered the cash and prospered.
Market Bosworth is a nice area to visit with numerous historic pubs and coaching inns, a wonderful tea shop, and a fish and chip shop that has won awards. There is a tiny market square (built around 1285) in the middle of the town where regular markets are still held today. There are several charming Georgian and thatched cottages lining the nearby streets.
Market Bosworth's two most noteworthy structures are the Dixie Grammar School and its renowned hall, Bosworth Hall (opposite the marketplace). The Dixie family has ties to the community dating back hundreds of years, and Sir Wolstan Dixie established the old Tudor grammar school in 1601. Bosworth Hall, which is east of the town and was constructed of red brick and white stone in the English Renaissance style popular during Queen Anne's reign and similar to Hampton Court, is an excellent example of the period. From 1680 to 1880, this vast hall served as the ancestral home of the Dixie family. Today, it houses a luxury hotel with 190 rooms as well as a spa and fitness centre.
Sir Wolstan Dixie, who tragically killed his daughter, Ann Dixie, by mistake when he set traps to capture her boyfriend, the neighbourhood gardener's son, is claimed to haunt the hall.
Numerous memorials to the Dixie family can be seen in the Church of St. Peter, a 14th-century building set away among the trees to the north of the town. Huge rural park east of the town is ideal for strolls and picnics with a grill because it has a year-round public arboretum and a small lake. To the west of the town is the Bosworth Water Trust, a 50-acre recreational area with sizable lakes for boating, fishing, and other water sports. The town is not far from the Market Bosworth Light Railway. A wonderful steam train line runs across peaceful terrain from Shackerstone Station to Shenton Station (walking distance from the Bosworth Battlefield Centre). The route was significantly renovated in 1970 by the Shackerstone Railway Society. The stationmaster's office is filled with a wide range of lamps, levers, clocks, dials, posters, and other railroad artefacts. The station yard is home to a very spectacular collection of vintage steam and diesel engines that have been restored, as well as six steam cranes that are still in operation for track maintenance.

Melton Mowbray Walk: Town Centre【4K】
Located in the county of Leicestershire, and around 15 miles northeast of Leicester, is the town of Melton Mowbray.
In the Domesday Book of 1086 Melton Mowbray was recorded as 'Medeltune'. At this time it had Leicestershire's only market. In 1324 a market charter was granted by Edward II.
In 1384 The 'Anne of Cleves House' was built to accommodate chantry priests. Following the Dissolution it was given to Anne of Cleves by Henry VIII, in the 1540s, as part of her divorce settlement. There is no evidence that she ever stayed there. Nevertheless the building remains intact and is a prominent landmark in the town (appearing shortly before the 2-minute mark).
In 1730 Stilton cheese was discovered by Cooper Thornhill, owner of the Bell Inn in the village of Stilton, Cambridgeshire, while visiting a farm near Melton Mowbray. He negotiated an exclusive marketing deal for the Bell Inn which was ideally situated on the Great North Road, and the stagecoach route from London and the North.
A second culinary claim to fame in the town comes in the form of Melton Mowbray pork pies. Pigs in the local farms were reared on the whey from local Stilton cheese production. When Melton Mowbray became the capital of hunting around the early 19th century, the local pie was adopted by the hunting aristocracy and taken with them whilst out riding. The pie was strengthened by using a hot water crust recipe for the pastry. Hot bone stock jelly would have been added to the pie after baking to help preserve the contents by driving out any air inside and also by sterilising the contents. It would have also made the pie more solid and so suitable for packing in the pocket whilst jumping the hedges and ditches on the typical hunt. This unique origin of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie was recognised by the European Union when Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status was granted to the pie in 2009.
Another industry associated with Melton Mowbray is Melton cloth. The first record of Melton cloth appeared in 1823. The tight-woven cloth was used in the production of items such as Sailors' pea coats, and workmen's donkey jackets.
The phrase paint the town red (meaning go out partying) is thought to have originated from an incident that occurred in Melton Mowbray in 1837. The Marquess of Waterford and his hunting party, who were celebrating a successful hunt, found several tins of red paint which they daubed liberally on to the town's toll bar and several buildings.
Monty Python's Graham Chapman and cricketer Stuart Broad both grew up in Melton Mowbray.

Oakham is the county town of Rutland in the East Midlands of England, 25 miles east of Leicester, 28 miles south-east of Nottingham and 23 miles west of Peterborough. Oakham lies to the west of Rutland Water, one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe. It is in the Vale of Catmose and is built on an incline, varying from 325 ft (99 m) to 400 ft (120 m) above sea level.
Local governance for Oakham is provided for by the single-tier unitary Rutland County Council, of which Oakham is the headquarters. Tourist attractions in Oakham include All Saints' Church and Oakham Castle. Another popular and historic feature is the open-air market held in the town's market square every Wednesday and Saturday (near the ancient octagonal Buttercross with its pyramidal roof and wooden stocks, a Grade I listed building).
The impressive spire of Oakham parish church, built during the 14th century, dominates distant views of the town for several miles in all directions. Restored in 1857–58 by Sir George Gilbert Scott, the church is a Grade I listed building. Oakham Castle, in Oakham, Rutland, was constructed between 1180 and 1190 for Walchelin de Ferriers, Lord of the Manor of Oakham. The Castle is known for its collection of massive horseshoes and is also recognised as one of the best examples of domestic Norman architecture in England.
Rutland County Museum is located in Oakham, Rutland, in the old Riding School of the Rutland Fencible Cavalry which was built in 1794-95. The Birmingham to Stansted Airport railway line runs through the town, providing links to Birmingham, Leicester, Peterborough, Cambridge and Stansted Airport. Oakham railway station is positioned approximately halfway between Peterborough railway station and Leicester railway station
Oakham is on the A606 between Melton Mowbray and Stamford. On 10 January 2007, the A606 bypass opened diverting traffic from the town centre. The Oakham Canal connected the town to the Melton Mowbray Navigation, the River Soar and the national waterways system between 1802 and 1847.

The worst British food has to be the pork pie and all its jelly! This weeks travel vlog we visit Ironbridge the World Heritage Site. We are exploring England on a Road Trip and it brought us to the birth place of the oldest cast iron bridge. Ironbridge is a small town on the river severn with a lot to see and do.
We then visited Blists Hill, the Victorian living museum. We got taken back in time seeing how they used to live while eating ginger nut biscuits and seeing old stuff haha.
