Holmfirth is a small town on the A6024 Woodhead Road in the Holme Valley, within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England. Centred upon the confluence of the Holme and Ribble rivers, Holmfirth is 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Huddersfield and 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Glossop.
Holmfirth mostly consists of stone-built cottages nestled in the Pennine hills. The Peak District National Park around Holme Moss is 4 miles (6.4 km) to the south of the town of Holmfirth. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Holmfirth was once a centre for pioneering film-making by Bamforth & Co., which later switched to the production of saucy seaside postcards. Between 1973 and 2010 both Holmfirth and the Holme Valley became well known as the filming location of the BBC's situation comedy Last of the Summer Wine.
Holmfirth (and the surrounding countryside) is the setting for the BBC's long-running comedy Last of the Summer Wine. Thousands of tourists flock to the area each year to enjoy scenery and locations familiar from the series. Filming of the TV Slaithwaite-based drama, Where the Heart Is, had also taken place in and around the area.
Holmfirth used to have its own branch line, off the Huddersfield to Sheffield line (commonly referred to as the Penistone Line), this short, 2 mile (3 km), line branched from the mainline just south of Brockholes. Holmfirth bus station is located in the centre of Holmfirth from which regular bus services take varying routes around the outlying villages and to Huddersfield's bus and railway stations.
Holmfirth constitutes a town of its own almost seven miles (11 km) south of the larger town of Huddersfield. While the town of Holmfirth itself is comparatively small, it is surrounded by several hamlets and villages. These neighbouring settlements are often collectively referred to as Holmfirth and include:- Austonley, Arrunden, Burnlee, Cinderhills, Cliff, Deanhouse, Gully, Flushhouse, Hade Edge, Thongsbridge, Upperthong and Washpit. Many of these are located on Cartworth Moor. Other villages and hamlets within the Holmfirth post town include:- Brockholes, Fulstone, Jackson Bridge, Hepworth, Holme, Holmbridge, Honley, Meltham, Netherthong, New Mill, Scholes, Totties, Underbank and Wooldale.

My intention isn't to offend anyone who is living in Huddersfield, I wanted to see for myself why this town is considered to be one of the worst places to live in England and form my own opinion.

Beaumont Park is a suburb of Huddersfield, in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England that is located between Netherton, Crosland Moor and Lockwood.
The housing in area of Beaumont Park is situated around the periphery of a medium-sized woodland and recreational park, known as 'Dungeon Wood' that was bequeathed to the people of Huddersfield in 1879 by the 'Beaumont's of Whitley' estate (Henry Fredrick Beaumont, for leisure purposes. Adjacent to the park is Beagle Woods, which is a popular venue for walkers. The wood is home to a kennels with a working pack of English Beagle hounds.
Beaumont Park was officially opened on 13 October 1883, by Prince Leopold, fourth son of Queen Victoria, and his wife Princess Helena of Waldeck and Pyrmont (The Duke and Duchess of Albany). Beaumont Park was Huddersfield's first public park and is a fine example of a Victorian park. The Beaumont Park is maintained by Kirklees Council with assistance from a group of volunteers interested in returning the grounds to their former glory, who have instigated many improvements to the park including a new bandstand and water cascades.

Mallyan Spout is a picturesque waterfall in the North York Moors village of Goathland. The water tumbles over a 70-foot drop on West Beck, reached by a path behind the Mallyan Spout Hotel. The scenic falls became a major draw for Victorian visitors to the North York Moors, long before Goathland became famous as the setting for the Heartbeat television series.
West Beck rises in the moorland above Goathland, fed by several springs. The beck runs into New Wath Scar, a steep-sided ravine carved out of the sandstone by the action of water over thousands of years.

Holmfirth - Beautiful English Town in Yorkshire
Holmfirth is a beautiful English town in Yorkshire. Located in the Kirklees in West Yorkshire, Holmfirth is a town with many shops, restaurants, and beautiful landscapes. Only a few miles away from the Pennines, Holmfirth has a lot of great footpaths in the area including some along the River Holme. I walk around the town as well as check out the Last of the Summer Wine exhibition, visit a couple parks, and explore a footpath above the town with breathtaking views of the English countryside. Holmfirth is where the longest running comedy series in the world, Last of the Summer Wine, was filmed which ran from 1973-2010 which starred actors Bill Owen, Peter Sallis, and Brian Wilde.
