#Sri_Vasudeva_Perumal Temple, Mandasa, Srikakulam. #శ్రీ_వాసుదేవ_పెరుమాళ్ దేవాలయం శ్రీకాకుళం జిల్లా మందస గ్రామంలోని ప్రాచీన దేవాలయం. సుమారు 700 సంవత్సరాల క్రితం నిర్మితమయినదిగా భావిస్తున్న ఈ ఆలయం నిర్మాణానికి సంబంధించిన పూర్తి ఆధారాలు లభ్యం కానప్పటికీ సుమారు 266 సంవత్సరాలక్రితం ఇది పునర్నిర్మితమయినట్టు ఇక్కడ లభించిన ఆధారాలబట్టి తెలియవచ్చింది. ఎర్రని ఇసుక రాయితో కళింగ శైలిలో తీర్చిదిద్దిన ఈ ఆలయ అపూర్వ శిల్పసంపద వర్ణనాతీతం. ఆలయంలో నెలకొని ఉన్న నిలువెత్తు సాలగ్రామ మూలమూర్తి తిరుపతి వెంకటేశ్వరుని విగ్రహాన్ని పోలివుండి చూపరులను కట్టిపడేస్తుంది. గత శతాబ్దము చివర వరకు ఇది మంచి వేదాధ్యయన కేంద్రముగా విలసిల్లినట్లు కూడా తగిన ఆధారాలు లభించినాయి. వైజాగ్, విజయనగరం, ఒడిశా - ఆంధ్రా సరిహద్దు ప్రాంతాలతో ఈ ప్రదేశం చక్కటి రోడ్డు మార్గాన్ని కలిగియున్నది.

ఆ కాలంలో మందసా రామానుజులను ప్రసిద్ధ వేదవిద్వాంసులు ఈ ఆలయ ప్రాంగణంలోనే వేదవిద్యను నేర్పుతూ కాశీ వరకు కూడా పర్యటించి పలువురు వేద విధ్వాంసులను వేదాంత చర్చలలో ఓడించి పలు సన్మాన పత్రములను పొంది ఉన్నారట. మందసా రామానుజుల కీర్తిని గురించి తెలుసుకున్నచిన్నజీయరు స్వామివారి గురువు పెద్ద జీయరు స్వామి వారు, వారి మిత్రులు గోపాలాచార్యస్వామివారితో కలసి నేటి రాజమండ్రి నుంచి శ్రీభాష్యం అధ్యయనం చేయడానికి కాలినడకన మందసకు వేంచేయడం జరిగింది.
నాటి రాత్రి ఆలయప్రాంగణంలో నిద్రించిన శిష్యులిద్దరికీ వారు రాజమండ్రి వద్ద దాటి వచ్చిన గోదావరి వంతెన విరిగి వరదలో కొట్టుకుపోయినట్లు కల వచ్చింది. అది అపశకునంగా భావించిన శిష్యులిద్దరు తమ విద్యాభ్యాసానికి ఆటంకము కలుగుతుందేమోనని భయపడుతూ గురువు గారివద్దకు వెళ్ళి కల సంగతి చెప్పారు. గురువుగారు వారిని ఊరడించి ఆలయంలో వేంచేసియున్నశ్రీ వాసుదేవ పెరుమాళ్ వద్దకు వారిని తీసుకుని వెళ్ళి స్వామికి సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారము చేయించి, వారు కూడా చేసినారట. ఆ సమయంలో వాసుదేవుని విగ్రహం నుండి ఓ దివ్యమయిన కాంతి ప్రసరించినదట. వాసుదేవుని అనుగ్రహం వల్ల శిష్యులిద్దరు సుమారు 2 సంవత్సరాలలో పూర్తికావలసిన శ్రీభాష్యం అధ్యయనాన్ని కేవలం 6 నెలలలోనే పూర్తి చేసుకుని తిరుగుప్రయాణం అయ్యారట. అందుకని ఇక్కడి దేవుని జ్ఞానప్రదాతగా, అభయప్రదాతగా భక్తులు కొలుస్తారు.

కాలాంతరంలో దివ్యమైన ఈ ఆలయం పాలకుల నిరాదరణకు గురి అయ్యి పూర్తిగా శిథిలావస్థకు చేరుకుంది. ఆలయానికి చెందిన అపూర్వ శిల్పసంపద చాలావరకు ఆకతాయి చేష్టలకు నాశనం కాబడింది.సుమారు 1683 ఎకరాలు మాన్యం ఉన్నప్పటికీ ఈ ఆలయం మనిషి స్వార్థానికి ప్రతీకగా శిథిలమయ్యింది. ప్రస్తుతం కేవలం 3 ఎకరాల భూమి మాత్రమే రెవెన్యూ రికార్డుల ప్రకారం అందుబాటులో ఉంది. ఆలయ గోడలమీద పిచ్చిమొక్కలు పెరిగి విషజంతువుల సంచారంతో సుమారు 50 సంవత్సరాల కాలం ఈ అపురూప ఆలయం జనబాహుళ్యానికి దూరంగా ఉండిపోయింది.
#చినజీయరు_ఆగమనం-పునర్వైభవం
1988 లో ఈ ఆలయ చరిత్ర తెలుసుకున్న చిన్నజీయరు స్వామి వారు ఆలయసందర్శనార్ధం మందసకు వేంచేసి, ఖర్చుకు వెరవకుండా ఆలయ ప్రాచీనతకు భంగం కలుగకుండా పునర్నిర్మించాలని సంకల్పించారు. అన్ని ప్రభుత్వ లాంచనాలు పూర్తి చేసి ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ దేవాదాయ శాఖ వారినుండి ఆలయాన్ని స్వాధీనం చేసుకుని, ఒడిషా నుంచి శిల్పులను రప్పించి యదాతధంగా ఆలయాన్నిపునర్నిర్మింపచేసారు. గురువు పెద్దజీయరు స్వామివారి విద్యాభ్యాసానికి గుర్తుగా వారి శతాబ్ది ఉత్సవాల్లో భాగంగా శ్రీశ్రీశ్రీ త్రిదండి చిన్నజీయరు స్వామివారు 2009 ఫిబ్రవరి నెలలో పూర్తిగా శిథిలమయిన ఈ ఆలయాన్ని పునఃప్రతిష్ఠ చేయడం జరిగింది. జిల్లాలో వివిధ ప్రాంతాలనుంచే కాకుండా ఇతర జిల్లాలు మరియు ఒడిషా నుండి కూడా అనేకమంది భక్తులు వస్తుంటారు.

Jirang Monastery is 85 Km from Berhampur City and 20 Km from Gajapti town.
Jirang Village and Monastery is well known as the Odisha’s Little Tibet . Jirang offered the Tibetan settler’s a home nevertheless after China invaded Tibet in 1959.
The Tibetan’s have named Jirang Village as “Phuntsokling”– which means land of plenty and happiness.
The major attraction of this place is Padmasambhava Monastery popularly known as the Jirang Monastery. Jirang monastery is the largest monastery in Eastern India.

Lord Sriyah Pathi, Srimannarayana, an embodiment of auspicious qualities with no trace of any flaws, an ocean of compassion, is gracing his Devotees along with his Devi in the Deity form as ‘Parava:sude:va’, receiving the worship of his devotees in Mandasa in Sri:ka:kulam mandalam.
In the lunar year of “Pramo:da”, in the month of “Ma:rgasi:rsha”, on the day of Krushna Dwadasi, Vrushchika Lagna, Wednesday, in 1744 AD, the temple was consecrated by the lunar dynasty heir Sri Hari Hara Rajamani. The temple which was once patronized by kings and reigned supreme lost all its grandeur in due time. In the later years it became impossible even to maintain the temple with daily worship and rituals.
The temple established by the rulers and later maintained by the trustees came into the hands of the Endowments department and was being well managed. But unfortunately it slowly lost all its lands income, fame and remained in ruins.

Geography
Mandasa is located at 18.8667°N 84.4667°E.It has an average elevation of 31 meters (104 feet). Mandasa mandal is bordered by Sompeta mandal to the northeast, Palasa mandal to the southwest, Vajrapu Kotturu mandal to the south, Patrapur block of Ganjam district, Odisha to the north, Rayagada block of Gajapati district, Odisha to the west and Bay of Bengal to the east. It is the birthplace of the great L. Harsha Vardhan
Places of Importance
The mountain 'Mahendragiri' is close to the village and a fort is present at the foot of the mountain. Mahendragiri is the highest mountain in South India.
The temple of Vasudeva Perumal which is located in the village attracts pilgrims and tourists.
The fort present in the heart of the village stands as a witness to the rich heritage of the locality.
Mandasa Palakova
Usually Kova, as we recall, is kova stamps or kova dumplings. But there is a peculiarity to Mandasa Palakova. It has a tricky taste sharing the melody in the thick liquid.
Mandasa was once the seat of the Kalinga kings who stood at the forefront of the Eastern Ghats. Since then, it has been known for making foods with different flavors. Part of it is known as the herbal medicine Palakova.
It has a history of nearly 300 years. The Eastern Ghats are home to many medicinal plants and trees. All the towers in the area carry the grazing in the hills every day, and the milk they give the herbal milk also has medicinal properties. And hence, Mandasa Kova is so famous with its healing properties.
There are about 10 families in the village who have been practicing Kova making for generations. This Kova is made with milk and sugar just like regular Kova. However it is put ready for sale before it is pastured. Makers say that, the milk ingredients would be safe by eating the Kova before being pastured

Mahendragiri, is a mountain in Rayagada subdivision of the district of Gajapati, Odisha, India.[1] It is situated amongst the Eastern Ghats at an elevation of 1,501 metres (4,925 ft).This is the second highest mountain peak of Odisha after Deomali in Koraput district. It has interesting archaeological remains.[7]
