10 Most Hated Towns in England

What are the most hated towns in England? No matter how good a country is, every part of it can’t be loved equally. In fact, some parts of it are bound to be hated. Even the most fanatic lover of a country will love some parts of it less than others. I have heard some people complaining about some towns in England, the home of the Queen that some people are dying to live and work in. That prompts research into the 10 most hated towns in England.
This ranking is based mainly on the comments and complaints of residents of England and visitors to those towns. But it’s not limited to that since some complaints can be completely baseless. We dig deeper in researching these 10 most hated towns in England.
10. Slough
Let’s begin with Slough, a town in Berkshire, within the historic county of Buckinghamshire. This town is 20 miles west of central London and 19 miles northeast of Reading. You will find the town in the Thames Valley and within the London metropolis around the area at the intersection of the M4.
In spite of its location, Slough according to those visitors, is a town whose streets are littered with empty takeaway and full of packets or empty beer cans. This assertion hasn’t been contradicted by even just one resident. The quality of food in the town’s restaurants appears, kind of, made for losers who’re just out to eat as much unhealthy food as they can get away with.
9. Scunthorpe
It’s not desirable to find Scunthorpe among the most hated towns in England. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to take it out of our list because the facts obviously place it there. This industrial town in the unitary authority of North Lincolnshire should normally be the pride of Lincolnshire as its main administrative center. But the town with an estimated population of 82,334 in 2016 had many things going against it.
Residents of the UK’s largest steel processing center, also known as the Industrial Garden Town, are frustrated by a lack of the liveliness and diversity in the town only known for work. However, the loudest grouse that lists Scunthorpe alongside the most hated towns in England is the indiscriminate censorship and blocking of websites for spurious reasons.

GLOUCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND (4K County Tour) Stunning Aerial, Drone, and Walking Tour 4K Footage features spectacular aerial, walking, and drone video footage, great for travel, visit, vacation, and tourism planning set to original music. Gloucestershire is a county in South West England. The county comprises part of the Cotswold Hills, part of the flat fertile valley of the River Severn, and the entire Forest of Dean. The county town is the city of Gloucester, and other principal towns include Cheltenham, Stroud, Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Dursley, Cinderford, and Lydney.

Gloucestershire borders Herefordshire to the north west, Worcestershire to the north, Warwickshire to the north east, Oxfordshire to the east, Wiltshire to the south, Bristol and Somerset to the south west, and the Welsh county of Monmouthshire to the west.

The current Gloucestershire County Council area does not have the same geographical boundaries as the historic county. Some northern parts of the county, including Long Marston and Welford-on-Avon, were transferred to Warwickshire in 1931. Following the Local Government Act 1972, some southern parts of the county were transferred to the new county of Avon, which ceased to exist on 1 April 1996. After 1996, the city of Bristol and South Gloucestershire became separate unitary authorities.

Canal walk to Uk's largest Ship Graveyard | River Severn

Teresa and I took a lovely peaceful walk along the Gloucester to Sharpness Canal looking to visit the Purton Hulks discovering the history of the area and learning about the Rail bridge disaster.

The Gloucester and Sharpness Canal is a ship canal in the west of England, between Gloucester and Sharpness; for much of its length it runs close to the tidal River Severn.

The Purton Hulks or Purton Ships' Graveyard is a number of abandoned boats and ships, deliberately beached beside the River Severn near Purton in Gloucestershire, England, to reinforce the river banks. Most were beached in the 1950s and are now in a state of considerable decay. The site forms the largest ship graveyard in mainland Britain.

The Severn Railway Bridge (historically called the Severn Bridge) was a bridge carrying the railway across the River Severn between Sharpness and Lydney in Gloucestershire, England. On 25 October 1960, in thick fog and a strong tide, two barges (named the Arkendale H and Wastdale H) which had overshot Sharpness Dock, collided with one of the columns of the bridge after being carried upstream.[10] Two bridge spans collapsed into the river.[10] As they fell, parts of the structure hit the barges causing the fuel oil and petroleum they were carrying to catch fire. Five people died in the incident.

The Forest of Dean is a geographical, historical and cultural region in the western part of the county of Gloucestershire, England.

The ancient Royal Forest lies at the very heart of the district with the market towns of Coleford and Cinderford offering an insight into the industrial heritage and history of this fascinating area.

The Forest of Dean was originally designated by the Saxons for hunting. They were the first people to realise its potential. Thereafter it became the hunting reserve of Kings for many hundreds of years to follow. Many of the Dean’s ancient rights and privileges come from its unique heritage as a Royal Hunting Forest. The Norman kings loved to hunt deer and wild boar and they introduced Forest Law and officials called Verderers who were charged with looking after the animals and the woods they lived in.

The Forest of Dean is one of the most fascinating regions of Britain nestling between the Wye Valley, the Vale of Leadon and the Severn Vale. Its relative isolation created by the valleys of two great tidal rivers, the Severn known widely for the Severn Bore and the Wye, together with its hilly terrain have helped preserve a pattern of land use, culture and heritage unlike anywhere else in the whole of England. The Royal Forest occupies an area of 204 square miles in the western part of Gloucestershire. The 20 million trees that cover the Royal Forest of Dean include oak, beech, ash, birch and holly trees. People who live in and around the Forest are known as Foresters. The areas name is derived from one of the primeval forests of England. In 1939 the woodland area became the first park in England to be designated as a national forest. One of the remaining Royal Forests in England.

Lydney historical harbour on the Severn Estuary

Join us as we explore Lydney historical harbour on the Severn Estuary. Once a very busy inland port where coal and charcoal was shipped from the Forest of Dean.
With stunning views across the Severn Estuary it is the last stop before the sea.
The entrance to the Canal was an important transport link for goods and is said to have seen around 2000 vessels a year passing through in its prime.
