Katieng Waterfall in Ratanakiri I Attraction in Ratanakiri I Cambodia
Katieng Waterfall can be found in the middle of the lush green forest. It is located in Lbang Muoy Commune, Lum Phat district, about 12 kilometers southeast of Banlung town in Ratanakiri.
The trip to the waterfall takes about 20 minutes. The name of Katieng Waterfall came from the indigenous Kreung hill tribe in Katieng Village.
The entrance fee is charged per vehicle at 10,000 riel or 2.50 per vehicle. Around the area, you can find some small stalls selling food, drinks and a variety of delicious local fruit.
Katieng Waterfall is about 10 meters high. All year round there is a waterfall, but depending on when you visit, the amount of water can vary dramatically. As we came in October, Cambodia is at the end of its rainy season, so combined with the rain water, the waterfall looks totally epic!

Kachanh Waterfall in Ratanakiri I Attraction in Ratanakiri I Cambodia
Hi guys this is Riya again! Welcome back to a very special episode in Ratanakiri in the north east of Cambodia. I’ve come to check a waterfall which is called Kachanh waterfall. Just come and have a look with me.
This waterfall is about 9 kilometers away from the town it took me around 15 minutes to get here.
It’s 10 meters high and it is has a long suspension bridge.
There is a small admission fee, you pay upon arrival.
You can swim here but you have to be careful as underneath there are many different depths and rocks under the water. swimming will depend on the time of year you visit; we were there in October and the waterfall was definitely too big and powerful to swim in.
Like most attractions in Cambodia, there are small wooden bungalows with hammocks; these are a great place to relax and have drinks or some food. There are some restaurants at the top.
Standing in the middle of the suspension bridge is the best spot to see the whole waterfall and view of the gorgeous trees all around. It’s like the waterfall is in the jungle.
The water flows into Sre Pork River in the Lum Phat district of Ratanakiri province. The name of this waterfall was given to it by the Kreung people from Kachanh village.
As I said, I was there at the end of the rainy season, so there was a great deal of water crashing down from the top. The water isn’t clear at this time of year, but it was a very impressive site. If you came in the dry season you would see a very different waterfall to this.

Ratanakiri province excursion = កន្លែងកំសាន្តនៅរតនគិរី
Green Jungle Trekking Tours is run by two brothers, Rithy and Sokha. Both were born and raised in a remote village in Cambodia, growing up surrounded by the wildlife of the jungle.
Rithy can speak English, a little bit of French, and some indigenous minority languages. His mother tongue is Khmer. He has worked for various agencies in Ratanakiri province since 2008. “I have fallen in love,” says Rithy, “With the nature, jungle, wildlife, and outdoor activities.”
Sokha can speak French and English. He has the same experience as his brother, since 2011 specializing in jungle trekking tours and indigenous hill tribes. Nowadays, Sokha is studying management at Build Bright University in Banlung City on the weekends. “I am doing jungle treks to get the money to pay the university’s fees,” says Sokha.
Both Rithy and Sokha love to explore and have created many custom tours, ranging from week-long jungle treks nearly reaching Laos to half-day excursions around Ratanakiri. Green Jungle Trekking Tours can create a trip to meet your goals and level of experiences .
When you support the protection of the jungle and wildlife through ecotourism, you provide jobs to minority peoples, the local indigenous inhabitants of Ratanakiri who know Virachey better than anyone.
5 Days Around Cambodia Episode 2 of 5
The 2nd video of our 5 days trip around Cambodia. We took group photos at Stung Treng Landmark and visited Samki Market in Krong Stung Treng. We ate breakfast and bought some foods for lunch as the next location is Ratanakiri Province. We enjoyed picnic lunch at Trapeang Krahorm Commune office, Koun Mom district, Ratanakiri Province. After lunch we continue to Ratanakiri downtown but we won't visit Banlung town, we turn right to Lum Phat district. Mr. Narong and Mr. Seyha is standing right next to the distance sign that say 529km. from Ratanakiri to Phnom Penh. We arrived the Sea Forest at Baay Chao mountain, took a few photos and continued to Sen Monorom town to take photos with Ko-Prey circle, the landmark of Mondulkiri province. A drone shot heading us to Mr. Sophal Phen's home at Ou Reang district. It's a Natural Love Garden full of trees, flowers, and fruits. He picked some avocados, bananas and other fruits for us. It's home sweet home Mondulkiri Province.

On our research trip, we took time to understand the unique local assets, needs and constraints through close collaboration with our incredible local partner CIDO (Community-based Integrated Development Organization) who have been running the centre since its opening in December 2018.

Cuộc sống trong thị xã nhỏ yên bình đã thực sự làm mình bắt đầu thấy yêu đất nước này. Ngày hôm nay cũng là 1 ngày không may mắn của mình, khi Mình bị mất chiếc fly-cam mà đã cùng mình đi qua bao nhiêu cung đường. Rất tiếc vì những hình ảnh trong thẻ nhớ đã không được lưu lại trước đó, phần còn lại của chuyến đi cũng sẽ không có cơ hội để ghi lại những hình ảnh từ trên cao. Nhưng điều không mong muốn đều có thể xảy ra, chỉ biết vui vẻ chấp nhận khi nó đến.

Ratanakiri, Cambodia
Video with images of tribal minorities in Ratanakiri a province in northeastern Cambodia at the border of Vietnam. Among the tribals are Kreung, Tompuon and Jarai. They live in the forests, the hills and the mountains in small isolated villages and practise shifting cultivation as well as hunting and collecting fruits. They still believe in spirits. These tribes have their own distinct language and customs, although today they dress as most other poor Cambodians and lack traditional clothing.
Ban Lung is a capital of Ratanakiri province with a regional market. Tribal women from surrounding villages are on their way to visit the market. They have a basket on their back to transport the goods they buy and sell on the market. East of Ban Lung near lake Yeak Lom is a small center with information on ethnic minorities in the province. It features a replica of some Kreung houses. At the age of fifteen the youngsters of the Kreung start building a stilted house next to the house of their beloved. In the evening they meet each other and when things go well they marry each other some time later.
Northeast of Ban Lung is a Jarai village in Andoung Meas district. The village has about twenty longhouses. The longhouses are built on stilts and contain several compartments occupied by matrilineally linked nuclear families. There are several hearths in each longhouse for these different households. Some Jarai villages have a community longhouse for communal activities. But it appears to be more usual for feasts and communal events to be held in family longhouses.
Dal is a small Tompuon village in Andoung Meas district northeast of Ban Lung. Just a few years ago the Tompuon inhabitants of Dal left their old village because of an epidemic disease. By burning and slashing the forest they create an open space where they build a new village. The houses are on wooden stilts, the roofs are covered with rotan, the walls are made of bamboo mats or twined bamboo strips and the floors rest on wooden girders. The shallow place beneath the house is used for storing wood or for wandering pigs and chickens.
At the shore of the Sesan river is a cemetery close to the village of Dal. Here family groups are buried side by side in the forest and there are effigies of the deceased. The tombs have a rectangular fence, a bamboo shed and two wooden statues. Each tomb contains household materials for the deceased to use in the afterlife like baskets, plates, bottles, pots and bowls. Some of these tombs date back many years and have been abandoned to the jungle.

Banlung ist eine Stadt im Nordosten von Kambodscha und gleichzeitig die Hauptstadt der Provinz Ratanakiri. Ihre Umgebung und die ganze Provinz Ratanakiri sind landschaftlich sehr reizvoll und lädt zum Wandern sowie Erkunden per Rad und Moped ein.
Banlung stammt aus der laotischen Sprache und bedeutet Haus des Onkels. 1979 nach dem Sturz der Roten Khmer wurde die Stadt zur Hauptstadt der Provinz und löste damit Voen Sai ab. Noch davor war Lumphat der Hauptort der Provinz. Grund für die Wahl Banlungs war das Vorantreiben des Handels mit dem benachbarten Vietnam. Die Region um die Stadt ist vom Tourismus noch nicht richtig entdeckt worden, so dass man als Tourist praktisch jeden anderen Touristen per Handschlag begrüßen kann, da die Anzahl der Hotels begrenzt ist und oft die gleichen Sehenswürdigkeiten besucht oder Aktivitäten durchgeführt werden.
