Brugge railway station officially Brugge, is the main railway station in Bruges, West Flanders, Belgium. The station opened on 12 August 1838 on railway lines 50A, 51 and 66. The current building has been in use since 1939. The station is one of the busiest in Belgium. Train services are operated by the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS/SNCB).

Believe it or not I do put some preparation and research into my videos. Sometimes it’s nice to stumble across things. Journey from Antwerpen Centraal to Brussels Midi was just one of those moments. Antwerp Central is simply the most beautiful railway station I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. Not just a means of getting people from A to B, it’s a destination. A work of art. Antwerp Centraal is a place for rail enthusiasts to visit.
The current terminal station building was constructed between 1895 and 1905. The building was designed by the architect Louis Delacenserie.
The station is widely regarded as the finest example of railway architecture in Belgium. I agree! Owing to the vast dome above the waiting room hall, the building became colloquially known as the spoorwegkathedraal (railroad cathedral).
The originally iron and glass train hall was designed by Clément Van Bogaert, an engineer, and covers an area of 12,000 square metres. The height of the station was necessary for dissipating the smoke of steam locomotives. In 2009, the American magazine Newsweek judged Antwerpen-Centraal the world's fourth greatest train station. In 2014, the magazine Mashable awarded Antwerpen-Centraal the first place for the most beautiful railway station in the world.

Achter de schermen | Open Monumentendag | Mechelen 2021
Open Monumentendag is een evenement waar duizenden mensen gaan kijken achter de schermen van erfgoed en uitzonderlijke gebouwen. Als inwoner van de historische stad Mechelen is dit altijd een hoogtepunt in de culturele schoonheid van de stad. In deze 32ste editie koos ik als Top 3 een bezoek aan het oude Sint-Jozefziekenhuis, het vroegere stadhuis en huidig postkantoor Huis De Beyaert en als afsluiter een ondergrondse kijk op het kunstatelier van Museum Hof van Busleyden. Uiteraard was er nog veel meer te bekijken maar je moet ergens een keuze maken.

BRUGGE, From the TRAIN STATION to the CITY CENTER
This is the the 4th video of this channel and the first in 2020
In this video you will see one of the routes through which you can reach from the train station to the center of Brugge.
I chose this route because it's one of the fastest. It has only 1.4 km and can get to the destination in only 18-20 minutes.
There will be other videos in which we will talk in more detail about what you can do in Brugge.

There are 5 direct high speed trains between Brussels, the capital of Belgium & the south of France, via Lille & Lyon. Some of these trains do terminate in Marseille (that's the train I took) and some other trains do terminate in Montpelier. This is a great way to travel to the sunny south of France from Belgium. Join me along one of these trains, so I can show you the journey.

Balade à Courtrai
Courtrai compte aujourd'hui quelque deux cents monuments et édifices protégés, dont 2 figurent même sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'Unesco. La ville présente en plus de cela une centaine de façades-témoins de grande valeur. Le patrimoine de Courtrai renferme en outre une grande quantité de statues, moulins et autres paysages naturels.
Courtrai compte également de nombreux Musées à visiter. Outre le nouveau musée 'Kortrijk 1302 - un jour, sept siècles', il y a par exemple aussi le Musée Broel, le Musée du Lin et le Musée de la Boulangerie.
