Fortul 10 Leurdeni: Generalul Brailmont a făcut o excepţie pentru acest fort şi l-a poziţionat în afara inelului defensiv, la peste 4 kilometri faţă de o baterie. În formă patrulateră, a fost împărţit în două între o unitate militară şi o firmă privată care l-a folosit până acum câţiva ani ca depozit. În prezent, este abandonat de ambii propietari şi se năruie sub ciocanele hoţilor de fier vechi.

Izvorul (fântâna) cu slatină din Poiana Slatinei (Lunca, Vânători-Neamț, Moldova, România)

Izvorul (fântâna) de slatină din Poiana Slatinei este cea mai veche exploatare de sare, datând de acum 8.000 de ani (Neoliticul timpuriu), de pe teritoriul României, al Europei și poate al întregii lumi.
În Poiana Slatinei, pășune situată pe Culmea Pleșului între satele Lunca și Oglinzi, la câțiva kilometri nord-vest de Târgu Neamț (județul Neamț, Moldova, Romania), se găsește un izvor de slatină captat într-un vechi buduroi de stejar marcat de trecerea timpului și de miile extrageri de saramură. Spre deosebire de alte izvoare sărate din regiune, saramura acestei izvor este deosebit de concentrată (160-170 g/l NaCl), depășind de 5 ori salinitatea medie a oceanului planetar (35 g/l). Calitatea deosebită a acestui izvor a fost un magnet care constant, de-a lungul mileniilor, a atras oamenii, și nu oricum! Cercetările arheologice efectuate în anii 1982-1984 de cercetătorii Muzeului de Istorie și Arheologie din Piatra Neamț (conduse de prof. G. Dumitroaia), reluate în anii 2002-2004 de O. Weller și alții au stabilit indubitabil începerea exploatării sării încă de acum 8.000 de ani (mileniul VI înainte de Hristos), în perioada Neoliticului timpuriu. Argumente sunt fragmentele de ceramică pictată aparținând Culturii Starčevo-Criș, cât și cele 10 analize de vârstă Carbon 14.
În vecinătatea captării de slatină, cercetările arheologice au conturat o movilă antropică de 60 m lungime, 25m lățime și 2,8 m grosime constituită din deșeuri de ardere stratificate (cenușă, cărbune și sol ars de culoare roșie). În vecinătatea fântânii se găsesc extraordinar de multe fragmente ceramice argumentând, la prima vedere, obținerea sării cristalizate prin fierberea și evaporarea saramurii în vase de lut. Cercetările mai recente, bazate pe observațiile asupra movilei cu deșeuri de ardere și cu corelări paleoetnografice indică însă folosirea altor metode de obținere a sării și nu prin evaporarea saramurii în vase ceramice. Procedeele respective ar consta în stropirea cu saramură a unor vetre argiloase aduse la incadescență, sau chiar stropirea directă a unor cărbuni încinși. În acest caz, recipientele ceramice au folosit pentru depozitarea loco a saramurii sau pentru transportul acesteia în zonă. Uriașa movilă cu deșeuri de ardere marchează exploatarea sării prin această „tehnologie” îndeosebi în perioada Neolitică, acum 6.050-5.500 ani înainte de Hristos (cu un maxim între 5.900 şi 5.650 î.Hr.). Volumul uriaș de deșeuri de ardere și tenacitatea cu care s-a lucrat în aceste condiții primitive, indică importanța și valoarea deosebită a sării. Probabil că sursele de sare erau limitate în acele vremuri.
Mileniile au trecut, dar sursa de sare nu a fost abandonată. Perioada medievală aduce reglementări privind exploatarea sursei, fiind cunoscute îndeosebi cele din perioada în care era administrată de către Mănăstirea Neamț. Probabil că exploatarea sării se facea exclusiv / predominant sub formă lichidă. Perioada modernă și actuală consemnează folosirea slatinei pentru anumite specialități de brânză, dar și general, pentru prepararea și conservarea hranei, pentru tăbăcirea pieilor de animale etc. În prezent, fântâna de saramură este vizitată sporadic de către localnici și rareori de către turiști. Fântâna cu sare este accesbilă pe drumuri de căruță dinspre satele Lunca și Oglinzi, precum și pe jos, pe cărări turistice marcate cu triunghi roșu și care pornesc din satul Lunca, dinspre Cetatea Neamț și dinspre Mănăstirea Sfânta Cruce (sat Poiana, valea Pârâului Culeșa).

We’re so excited to finally be in Romania. This our first time in the country and we’re starting our time here in the capital city of Bucharest. Looking for things to do? We go you covered :)
We begin the video by checking out some green space in the city, a beautiful park called Cișmigiu Gardens. While here we visit the pond (which is empty), see some interesting ducks and swans and take a walk around.
Afterwards we head over to one of the main and most touristy areas of the city, the Old Town. Bucharest isn’t known as being the most beautiful city in Europe but the Old town has the old city charm with older buildings and cobblestone streets. While here we take you into our hotel (New Era Hotel) to check out our room and our awesome view.
Later we head to one of the most famous buildings in Bucharest, the Palace of Parliament. It happens to be the second biggest administrative buildings in the world (after the Pentagon). We didn’t go inside but checked it out from the road.
Lastly we did one of our favourite things, went to find some craft beer! We’d been in Turkey for awhile where it was difficult to find craft beer so we were really excited to find it in Bucharest. We went to a place called Zaganu.
