12 AMAZING Things to do in Yountville, California: Napa Valley Travel Guide

Yountville is most definitely Napa Valley’s friendliest town and has some incredible wine, food, wellness and hospitality! I flew up for a fun-filled 48 hours in lovely Yountville and have put together a travel guide with some wonderful suggestions on how to spend your time in #YountvilleCA

1. Art Walk, stroll Yountville.

#Yountville is that rare gem in #NapaValley where you can actually do a ton on foot! Take advantage of this major convenience in Yountville and bounce around the wine tasting rooms, shops, hotels and restaurants all while taking in some wonderful art!

2. Stay at Hotel Yountville

This was my second time staying at Hotel Yountville and I absolutely loved it! The rooms are fabulous, the staff is so accommodating and they have expanded to quite an impressive property!

3. Cocktails by the pool at Hotel Yountville

This is the perfect way to wind down from a busy day or get the party started! You will most likely be drinking a lot of wine, so I thoroughly enjoyed the variety and creativity of the cocktail menu.

4. Dinner at RH Restaurant at RH Hardware

RH Restaurant is part of the five-building RH Yountville Compound, an integration of food, wine, art and design. Get ready for jaw-dropping moments and excellent eats and vino!

5. Hot Air Balloon Ride

This has been on my bucket list for over a decade, so I was thrilled to finally go on a #hotairballoon ride! Hotel Yountville offers a package with Napa Valley Aloft. This is a great way to see Napa Valley from a completely different perspective. Be ready to wake up early!

6. Stay at Hotel Villagio

Another wonderful hotel to stay at in Yountville is Hotel Villagio. This is an impressive property with a wonderful breakfast buffet, lots of communal areas, fun photo ops at a little vineyard next door, a great bar and beautiful spa. There is also a fun house jeep that can drop you at dinner.

7. Breakfast Buffet at Hotel Villagio

Don't miss the most important meal of the day!

8. Spa Day at Spa at the Estate
Let's be honest, drinking wine and eating awesome food is hard work! You deserve a break!

9.. Lunch at Coqueta Napa Valley

Coqueta means “flirt” or “infatuation” in Spanish, and let me tell you Michael Chiarello and his team represented! This was a total highlight of my time in Yountville and the food is killer! I highly suggest starting off your meal with their house gin and tonic.

10. Wine and Cheese Tasting at Silver Trident Winery

When you visit Silver Trident Winery, you feel like you are walking into your Aunt's home in Tuscany and enjoying wine and cheese with family. This aunt also has impeccable taste because everything is exclusively Ralph Lauren Home and available for purchase!

11. Wine Tasting at Handwritten Wines

Evocative wines, elevated vineyards and a truly unique #winetasting experience. This was my first stop upon landing in Napa Valley and a fantastic way to kick off my trip! The private tasting room is beautiful and this is a truly special opportunity to gain an education about wine and wine tasting. And the wines are so good!

12.. Dinner at Lucy Restaurant and Bar at Bardessono

If you can't stay at Bardessono, then a meal at Lucy is the next best thing! The food is phenomenal, the service is perfection with some of the best voices I've ever heard (legit these guys could all have a side hustle as voice-over artists), and you can enjoy a stroll around the property. Oh and be sure to visit the bathroom, I can never pass up a Japanese toilet.

I hope you enjoyed my #travelvlog and Napa Valley #travelguide through Yountville, CA. This place truly has my heart and I can't wait to go back!

Tomales Bay Travel Guide | California Travel Tips

Go on a tour of beautiful Tomales Bay with California travel guide Veronica Hill in this episode of California Travel Tips.

Located 30 miles north of San Francisco, along scenic Highway 1, Tomales Bay stretches 15 miles from Bodega Bay to Point Reyes Station. Marshall boasts just 400 residents, and is dotted with weathering dairy farms, rustic oyster stands, and charming waterfront inns.

One of the best is Nicks' Cove, a cluster of 1930s cottages that has quickly become one of San Francisco's hottest weekend escapes.

This has been and continues to be the place that people come up Highway 1, and they stop and they stay and they eat and they drink and have a really good time, says Dena Grunt, general manager.

We're staying in Bandit's Bungalow, a two-bedroom waterfront cottage that's perfect for families. Not only does it have a fully stocked bar, but there are heated bathroom floors, a private deck, and a wood-burning stove. Your stay comes with a welcome delivery of their famous BBQd oysters in the afternoon, followed by a delicious continental breakfast in the morning.

Nick's Cove has 12 different cottages to choose from. Five sit on the waterfront, and seven sit just across the highway in a eucalyptus grove. If you can't stay the night, be sure to make a reservation for dinner. Executive chef Austin Perkins, an alum of the Michelin-starred Cyrus in Healdsburg, serves up a delicious seafood menu using the bounty of local farms. Start out with an oyster sampler, then dig in to Austin's decadent crab mac n cheese.

While you're here, the great outdoors beckons. You can hop in a fishing boat, go on a kayaking tour of the bay, or cycle down Highway 1. Foodies shouldn't miss Hog Island Oyster Company, where you can shuck and smoke your own Tomales Bay oysters along the waterfront. One of our favorite stops is Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes Station. Housed in a restored barn below the bay, Cowgirl Creamery is celebrated for its artisan California cheese, served in top restaurants throughout the state. Foodies flock to this charming cheese shop to stock up on fresh-made fromage, take a class, or take part in their weekly cheese-making tours.

After a day of exploring Tomales Bay, head back to the comforts of Nick's Cove, where you can head out to the pier and enjoy the beautiful California sunset.

Dillon Beach, California

Dillon Beach is a census-designated place in Marin County, California, United States. Dillon Beach is located 3.25 miles west of Tomales, at an elevation of 89 feet. The population was 283 at the 2010 census. Dillon Beach was named after the founder, George Dillon, who settled there in 1858.The area includes a public access beach, as well as a private beach resort, the only private beach in California.

The Estero de San Antonio State Marine Recreational Management Area is a marine protected area located 1.5 miles north of Dillon Beach. Like an underwater park, this marine protected area helps conserve ocean wildlife and marine ecosystems.

Eventually, Dillon sold out to John Keegan with the agreement that the beach would always be named Dillon Beach. Keegan platted the town, built the hotel which still stands as the store and restaurant (built of first-growth redwoods). Keegan also built cottages, one of which still stands along the road to the beach. Keegan ran a stagecoach from Dillon Beach to Tomales where it met the train. Keegan eventually sold the holdings to the Lawson family who owned it until the arrival of the Clines. The first post office at Dillon Beach opened in 1922. During the 1960s, Oceana Marin was developed north of town by John Keegan's grandson, James Keegan of Wells Fargo Bank and Henry Trione of Sonoma County Mortgage. Fancy modern coastal houses were built on the hillsides overlooking the quaint town of small cottages giving it a unique appeal.

Santa Rosa, California

Santa Rosa is a city in and the county seat of Sonoma County, California, United States. Its estimated 2014 population was 174,170.Santa Rosa is the largest city in California's Redwood Empire, Wine Country and the North Bay; the fifth most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area after San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland, and Fremont; and the 28th most populous city in California.

Before the arrival of Europeans, the wide valley containing Santa Rosa was home to a strong and populous tribe of Pomo natives known as the Bitakomtara. The Bitakomtara controlled the valley closely, barring passage to others until permission was arranged. Those who entered without permission were subject to harsh penalties. The tribe gathered at ceremonial times on Santa Rosa Creek near present-day Spring Lake Regional Park. Upon the arrival of Europeans, the Pomos were decimated by smallpox brought from Europe, and by the eradication efforts of Anglo settlers. By 1900 the Pomo population had decreased by 95%.

In 1867, the county recognized Santa Rosa as an incorporated city and in 1868 the state officially confirmed the incorporation, making it officially the third incorporated city in Sonoma County, after Petaluma, incorporated in 1858, and Healdsburg, incorporated in 1867. The 1906 San Francisco earthquake essentially destroyed the entire downtown, but the city's population did not greatly suffer. However, after that period the population growth of Santa Rosa, as with most of the area, was very slow.

Famed director Alfred Hitchcock filmed his thriller Shadow of a Doubt in Santa Rosa in 1943; the film gives glimpses of Santa Rosa in the 1940s. Many of the downtown buildings seen in the film no longer exist due to major reconstruction following the strong earthquakes in October 1969. However, some, like the rough-stone Northwestern Pacific Railroad depot and the prominent Empire Building (built in 1910 with a gold-topped clock tower), still survive.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 41.50 sq mi , of which 41.29 sq miles is land and 0.205 sq mi (0.49%) is water.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Santa Rosa had a population of 167,815. The population density was 4,043.8 people per square mile.

Yountville Travel Guide | Napa Valley | California Travel Tips

California travel expert Veronica Hill shares her Yountville Travel Guide in this episode of California Travel Tips.

When planning your next Napa Valley vacation, consider a stay in Yountville. This is a great central location for touring Napa Valley wineries, and you can walk to more fine dining restaurants than any other town in the nation.

Among the best Napa restaurants in Yountville are four Thomas Keller restaurants, including French Laundry, Bouchon, Bouchon Bakery and Ad Hoc; Phillipe Jeanty's incredible Bistro Jeanty; Bob Hurley's restaurant (a favorite of locals), the casual Pacific Blues Cafe, and Etoile, the dining room at Domaine Chandon.

Yountville is also a great spot to start a day of Napa Valley wine tours, whether you choose to jump aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train; catch a ride on a Napa wine tour limo with Beau Wine Tours or cycle through the vineyards with Napa Bike Tours.

Napa Valley weather varies from the 90s in the summer to upper 40s in the winter months. Don't forget to bring along a sweater and a few layers so you won't be surprised by a quick rainstorm.
