Trying traditional Colombian food on our own DIY Colombia food tour was always going to happen. We didn't realize that different regions in Colombia had such different sorts of foods.
Today we are in Bogota where they add cheese to almost everything (Including their ice cream) and we are eating our way around this huge city. We also try a drink that was made illegal by the government decades ago!
It's pretty safe to say with a country this diverse this will NOT be our last food tour day in Colombia.

In Colombia ( there are many tourist places, diversity of landscapes, mountains, beaches, deserts and much more. Today I want to present, according to my experience, the most beautiful places in Colombia, with the best experiences and which you surely have to visit. Here is the list:
1. Santander ( It is a department whose capital is Bucaramanga( There is also one of the Heritage Towns of Colombia, Barichara ( Santander is the perfect place for extreme sports and has a diversity of ecosystems that allow you to enjoy different tourist activities.
2. Boyacá ( It is a department that does not have much tourism development, but it has amazing landscapes. There are tourist places like the Nevado del Cocuy ( and the Paramo de Ocetá (
3. Coffee Belt ( It is composed of the department of Quindio ( Caldas ( and Risaralda ( Perfect for nature tourism and a great coffee experience.
4. Nariño ( This department located in southern Colombia has several volcanoes and lagoons, such as the Laguna de la Cocha ( In Nariño you can do several outdoor activities, although tourism has not developed completely.
5. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta ( A large mountain located in the middle of the Colombian Caribbean. There you can go hiking, visit coffee farms and enjoy spectacular landscapes.
These are my favorite places in Colombia, if you have another one that I did not include in the list I will be attentive to your comments to discuss your ideas.

Where to Eat in Cartagena | Top 10 Best Restaurants
Cartagena is a vibrant city on the Caribbean coast of Colombia. It has a lot to offer, including a perfectly preserved Old Town, sunny beaches on the Caribbean Sea, and fantastic food and drinks. The mix of Colombian, African, Caribbean, and Spanish influences make this a truly remarkable food destination. Some people define Cartagena as the country's culinary capital, and we find it very hard to disagree!
Famous chefs choose this city to open up new restaurants that combine contemporary and traditional flavors, and talented mixologists in the many bars throughout the city compete to showcase their craft.
Food in Cartagena is not only about eating but the whole experience. Every place we visited not only offered fantastic food but the ambiance and décor of the restaurants were also as refreshing. Did you know that Medellín is safer than Philadelphia, USA?! Here is my tour guide for the best things to do in Medellín Colombia! I spent a week in Medellin and loved every minute of it. I did everything from a graffiti tour of Comuna 13 (Pablo Escobar territory), to taking the cable cars (Metrocable) - All the signs are in ENGLISH - Arvi park (Parque Arvi) and a day tour to El Retiro, Guatape, La Piedra del Piñol, taking public transportation (it's safer than NYC and definitely cleaner). I hope you enjoy this tour guide.

I got here by plane and a Covid vaccine is still required, so make sure you have that before entering Colombia.
The local currency is the Colombian peso, the exchange rate with the US Dollar is currently 4700.
I booked in most of the places I went to, but for the sunset rooftop bars, try getting there at least an hour before sunset to secure a table.
As always , I realise that this guide doesn’t cover EVERY single activity (like island tours and the walk inside the fortress for example), but after lots of research and traveling in the area, it’s how I personally believe you should spend your time if 2 days is all you have.
