Chinese Navy (Submarines/Ships) at Lüshun /旅顺市 / 旅順市 (Port Arthur)
Formerly known as Port Arthur, Lvshunkou / 旅顺口区 or Lüshun City /旅顺市 / 旅順市 is a small city an hour to the South of Dalian used to be difficult for foreign tourists to access, but has since opened up a lot. Military areas are still off-limits of course.
Baiyu Mountain is 130 meters above sea level. At its top, people can enjoy panoramic views of all of Lushun and check out the Chinese navy below!

Some Siege of Port Arthur Sites Today (China)
Lüshunkou District / 旅顺口区 / 旅順口區 is a district of Dalian (also called Lüshun City / 旅顺市 / 旅順市 or literally Lüshun Port / 旅顺港 / 旅順港) that was formerly known as Port Arthur / 亚瑟港 / 亞瑟港 / Порт-Артур and Ryojun / 旅順 and is located at the extreme southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula.
The Siege of Port Arthur / 旅順攻囲戦 / Оборона Порт-Артура (August 1, 1904 – January 2, 1905) was the longest and most violent land battle of the Russo-Japanese War. Port Arthur had been widely regarded as one of the most strongly fortified positions in the world. However, during the First Sino-Japanese War, General Nogi Maresuke had taken the city from the forces of Qing China in only a few days. The ease of his victory during the previous conflict, and overconfidence by the Japanese General Staff in its ability to overcome improved Russian fortifications, led to a much longer campaign and far greater losses than expected.
Some defensive guns from the battle still remain overlooking the city; but are difficult to find on your own.
Baiyu Mountain Scenic Area / 白玉山景区 (158 Baiyushan Street / 白玉山街158号) is a small mountain (130 metres above sea level), offering good views of the Lüshun Military Port. A memorial tower stands at the peak of the mountain. The memorial tower was built by the Japanese to commemorate their victory in the Russo-Japanese War. It now stands as a reminder of the Japanese invasion. Entry is free.
Lüshun Railway Station / 旅顺火车站 was built by the Russians between 1900 and 1903 as part of what was then known as the Chinese Eastern Railway. The station is noteworthy for its Russian architectural style. Passenger rail services ceased in 2014, but the station remains open to visitors.
Note that the Lüshun Metro Station / 旅顺地铁站 is the metro station closest to the historic city of Lüshun. Nonetheless, it's still relatively remote, so it's probably best to transfer to a bus or taxi upon your arrival.

The best place to know the local food and culture is definitely the night market, Dalian Jiaoda night market is one of the most famous night markets in Dalian city, it's in front of Dalian Jiaotong University, a place for students and young people to spend their nights for dinners. It's different from those night markets for travelers in summer, here the food is nice, well if you are not good enough, you won't have regular clients, and the price is student-friendly. Definitely, a place you must check out at night, plus in Dalian, we don't really have lots of places open at night...

Located on the southern tip of China’s Liaodong Peninsula, backed by the vast hinterland of Northeast China, and facing the Shandong Peninsula across the sea on the south, Dalian is an important hub city of Northeast China. It is also an important port city of northern China with functions of industry, trade, finance and tourism. Hailed as the Pearl of Northern China, Dalian is a recipient of the “Global 500 Roll of Honor for Environmental Achievement” and the “Habitat Scroll of Honor Award” conferred by the United Nations, and is known as the “International Garden City”. In July, 2007, the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the China National Tourism Administration jointly entitled Dalian one of the three “China’s Best Tourist Cities”.And in 2017, Dalian has been approved as Leisure Tourism Demonstration Cities of China and China’s Cruise Tourism Development Experimental Area.

I had a dream. If I succeed to cycle six continents, I must go back South Korea by land. Sadly, the situation was still bad. I decided to give up my old dream to go back home. But at least I wanted to try one little thing. In China, I will cycle from Amrok River to Duman River. It is located between China and North Korea border.
I could get only 30 days Chinese Tourist Visa in Hong Kong, so I flew to Dalian international airport. But there was no ATM when I needed to call the taxi. So I just installed my bicycle without special tool.

Shenyang Forbidden City, located in the center of the old city of Ming and Qing Dynasties in Shenhe District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, was the Shenyang (Shengjing) Imperial Palace before the entry of the Later Jin Dynasty and the Manchu Qing Dynasty. ), was built in 1625. Dalian ist eine Großstadt an der Spitze der Liaodong-Halbinsel in der mandschurischen Provinz Liaoning.
Der touristisch interessante Teil ist im Stadtzentrum Zhongshan sowie im Bereich des Lüshunkou, dem vormaligen Port Arthur. Der Hafen wird von der Volksmarine weiterhin militärisch genutzt und ist somit teilweise gesperrt. Das Verwaltungszentrum der modernen Stadt ist im Stadtbezirk Xigang.
Teil des großstädtischen Gebiets sind die Industriestädte (莊河, Chwangho) und (瓦房店市), das früher Fuhsien hieß. Beide haben je fast eine Million Einwohner. Ebenfalls zu Dalian gehört (金州区).
