The Mura Statistical Region is a statistical region in the north-east of Slovenia. It is predominantly agricultural with field crops representing over three quarters of the total utilised agricultural area, twice as much as the Slovene average. Climate and soil combined have made it the region with the highest crop production, but its geographical position and inferior infrastructure put it at a disadvantage and it is the region of Slovenia with the lowest GDP per capita (EUR 8,500) and the highest rate of registered unemployment. The region comprises the following municipalities: Apače, Beltinci, Cankova, Črenšovci, Dobrovnik, Gornja Radgona, Gornji Petrovci, Grad, Hodoš, Kobilje, Križevci, Kuzma, Lendava, Ljutomer, Moravske Toplice, Murska Sobota, Odranci, Puconci, Radenci, Razkrižje, Rogašovci, Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici, Šalovci, Tišina, Turnišče, Velika Polana and Veržej. The population in 2004 was 122,717. Employment structure: 41.2% services, 44.8% industry, 14.0% agriculture. It attracts 7.8% of the total number of tourists in Slovenia, most being from Slovenia (52%). Length of motorways: 14 km Length of other roads: 1451 km.

The BIG BERRY Team visited Domačija Kuzma. A beautiful place situated along the Kolpa river. They showed us how the flour mill works via water generated turbines. They also gave us rakija, which is a Slovenian liquor and the BIG BERRY team may have had slightly too much, but we still loved our night at Domačija Kuzma!

História da caminhada da longa distância nas montanhas da Eslovênia
A ideia de conectar a área mais bonita, acidentada e montanhosa da Eslovênia veio de Ivan Šumljak em 1950. Originalmente, a trilha era para ser uma rota circular, que começaria e terminaria em Maribor. Mais tarde, foi alterado para incluir Postojna e outras áreas em direção ao mar. Incluía principalmente trilhas para caminhadas existentes. No entanto, em algumas partes mais curtas foi necessário fazer novas demarcações para conectá-los.
A trilha foi aberta em 1º de agosto de 1953, com 80 pontos de controle. Desde então, a trilha só mudou ligeiramente. Estas são as características atuais da trilha: Pontos de controle: 80; Comprimento: 616,4 km; Subida total: 37.300 m; Descida total: 37.600 m.
Existem 58 cabanas e dois museus - o Museu Alpino Esloveno em Mojstrana e o Hospital Franja Partisan (da Segunda Guerra Mundial) - e o sistema de cavernas denominado Cavernas Škocjan.
Cerca de 9.500 caminhantes completaram a rota ao longo de 60 anos de história da trilha.
A trilha de caminhada na montanha da Eslovênia também tem uma rota estendida com 35 pontos de controle em toda a Eslovênia.
