City in Japan
Aomori is the capital city of Aomori Prefecture, in the Tōhoku region of Japan. As of 1 June 2019, the city had an estimated population of 276,567 in 136,209 households, and a population density of 335 persons per km². The city is one of Japan's 48 core cities. The total area of the city was 824.61 square kilometers.
Aomori is located in central Aomori Prefecture, on a plain between the southern end of Aomori Bay, which it faces to the north and the Hakkōda Mountains to the south. Among other smaller rivers, the city has two large rivers flowing through it, the Komagome River and it's tributary, the Arakawa River.

Amazing Aomori, Japan in Winter
Aomori prefecture is located in the northernmost area of Honshū island and is the home of Natural World Heritage sites such as Shirakamisanchi, Towada Lakeand Hakkōda, Mount Iwaki, the Hotokegaura Gulf of the Shimokita Peninsulaand other places with amazing natural landscapes, which make this region one of the most beautiful parts of Japan.
Winters in Aomori are very cold, and the region is known as one of the few places with heavy snowfall in Japan. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t go to Aomori in winter! There are actually seafood dishes that can be tasted only during the cold season, as well as amusements that can be enjoyed only when it is snowing. We have selected four activities that you can only enjoy in Aomori during winter.

Takayama Inari Jinja - Aomori
Have you been to Takayama Inari Shrine ⁉️
Less famous than the Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine in Kyoto, Takayama Inari Shrine with its hundreds of torii ⛩️ is one of the most important shrines in Aomori prefecture, a region of northern Japan.
Located in the northwest of Honshu, on the Tsugaru peninsula, Takayama Inari Shrine faces the Sea of Japan. This rather unknown shrine is beautiful whatever the season and is really worth a visit ❄️???? ️
We advise you to add this place to your to-do list for your next trip to Aomori Prefecture!
➾To get there from Tokyo with your Japan Rail Pass, take the Shinkansen to Shin-Aomori Station (3h) then change to a ???? local train to Goshogawara Station. From Goshogawara Station, take a bus (40m) to the Shrine entrance. Then take a taxi (5m). Alternatively you may take two buses to the Shrine entrance (1h30min), then walk.(40m)

Today itinerary:
1. We will take the Tohoku shinkansen from Hachinohe to Shin-Aomori
2. In Shin-Aomori we will take the Ou line to Hirosaki
3. From here we will take the Konan railway to Kuroishi
4. Exploring Kuroishi and have a typical Japanese lunch
5. Take the bus to Aoni Onsen (2 buses)
Cost of the trip:
1. Shinkansen: I used JR East Pass Tohoku (30.000 Yen 5 days no limit boarding in all Tohoku region). Cost without pass is around 4.000 Yen one way.
2. Local train to Hirosaki : 590 Yen one way
4. Konan railway: Around 500 Yen
3. Ryokan: around 15.000 Yen per night (solo) with dinner and breakfast

Suigun no Yado in Winter | Aomori, Japan
Suigun no Yado is a historic inn in Okutsugaru, Aomori, Japan.
Here in Okutsugaru, located at the foot of the World Heritage Site Shirakami Sanchi, the land is full of unique food culture and attractions.
A medieval warrior's mansion, local cuisine that can only be found here, and an ancient seawater hot spring.
