There are not many tourists who know about the historical town of Kurashiki on the outskirts of Okayama. I was very fortunate to find out about this area when I was passing through and I would highly recommend you visit here if you enjoy the more traditional side of Japanese culture. It is very easy to get to if you are already staying in Okayama or there is also the option of staying right in Kurashiki with many beautiful ryokans. OKAYAMA JAPAN | KURASHIKI’s Historical Town
✨✨Hello everyone!
???????? This week, we're going on a day trip to Kurashiki in Okayama! Known as the Venice of Japan or Little Kyoto with waterways, this historical town is home to jeans and textile manufacturing as well as delicious peaches. In fact, Okayama is the birthplace of the legend of Momotaro, the peach boy.
We wanted to do a quick day trip to Kurashiki from Osaka and visit the Bikan Historical Quarters. Although the area is popular with tourists now, it's still a gorgeous place to relax and explore Japan's old-world charm.
Kurashiki's Bikan Historical Quarters was once known for its rice production. Its famous willow-lined canals once ferried boats carrying goods all throughout the area.
As you walk through here, you'll spot many of the Edo Period buildings that have been restored and now function as museums, shops, and restaurants.

Discover KURASHIKI | Japan's Treasure Trove of Retro Townscapes
In the middle of winter, we explored Kurashiki, Okayama, which boasts a classic atmosphere and stunning inland sea. One of the city's main attractions is the Bikan Historical Quarter, a beautifully preserved area featuring traditional wooden buildings, narrow streets, and waterways lined with weeping willows. Additionally, the Kojima area offers a beautiful coastline, providing an excellent view of the Seto Ohashi Bridge.
Having grown up in a city neighboring Kurashiki (called Fukuyama), I have always admired the peaceful atmosphere and mild climate of the region. In this video, I will showcase the beauty of Kurashiki using great camera gear. Enjoy!

This is beautiful historical area Kurashiki, Japan
Kurashiki is located in Okayama Prefecture, not far from the prefectural capital of Okayama City. Kurashiki has a preserved canal area that dates back to the Edo Period (1603-1867), when the city served as an important rice distribution center. In fact, the name Kurashiki can be roughly translated as town of storehouses in reference to the rice storehouses.
Many of Kurashiki's former storehouses have been converted into museums, boutiques and cafes. The Ohara Museum is the most impressive of Kurashiki's museums, exhibiting a large collection of works by famous Western artists. The canal area is a ten minute walk from Kurashiki Station.

Exploring Okayama's Kurashiki Historical District | Japan Travel
Part 2 of my trip to Okayama Prefecture in west Japan. The weather made a 180 degree turn for the better, so I head over to Kurashiki, which has a famous historical district. Come along as I explore and see what it has to offer!

Japan Railway Trip | Kurashiki - A historical town that maybe your next favourite destination
We visited Kurashiki (倉敷), located in Okayama Prefecture on a Hello Kitty Shinkansen!! Kurashiki is a picturesque historical town with a preserved canal area that dates back more than 400 years, when the city served as an important rice distribution centre for the shogunate. Kura translates as storehouse. We love this place and wishes to showcase it to you.
A lot of friends and family recently visited Japan and went to places such as Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo, Nara etc. All the famous tourist spots. Japan is a country with lots of other attractive and historical towns that are just as worthy for a visit. One of these towns is Kurashiki in Okayama prefecture. We hope you enjoy the video.
