Finnair DC-9 plane landing in Vaasa, Finland, 1991, From The Archives
In this video we were in Finland back in 1991 and filming a landing in Vaasa, Finland. The aircraft in question is a McDonnel Douglas DC-9 operated by Finnair. This flight came in from Helsinki. The plane arrives just in front of the small terminal in Vaasa.

Korsholms Kyrka II/09 HD
På södra sidan om Gamla Vasa rutnätsplan står det tidigare hovrättshuset, som efter stadens brand 1852 byggdes om till Korsholms kyrka. Den tidiggustavianska byggnaden med mansardtak har mittrisalit med kolossalpilastrar. Hovrättsparken går tillbaka till den tid när byggnaden uppfördes. Öster om hovrättshuset finns hovrättspresidentens trädgård med damm och stenmurar. Vid parkens södra tullport finns också en liten klassicistisk högvaktsbyggnad, som ursprungligen stod invid torget. Den från hovrättshuset utgående allén leder till den kulle, där Korsholms slott låg och där landshövdingens residens fanns på 1700-talet. Lindallén i Gamla Vasa är Finlands äldsta i officiellt bruk varande esplanad.

I'm living in Kokkola, Finland for a year as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student. Here you can see some of the places I visited in my first month on exchange. Read below for more details :)

KARKKU
I spent my first week in Finland at a Rotary Exchange Camp in Karkku. I was there with over 100 other exchange students. While there, I took Finnish classes, swam and rowed a boat in the river, went to sauna, and spent a lot of time getting to know the other exchange students.
We also visited the church in Karkku.
TAMPERE
We spent one afternoon at camp in Tampere. We explored the town, ate and went shopping.
There we visited the Tampere Cathedral.
KOKKOLA
I live here in Kokkola, a cute town on the west coast of Finland.
In the central part of town there are many old houses and buildings.

Kokkola Church
The Venetian Night Celebration was on the 24th and 25th of August. It celebrates the end of summer and cottage season with music and performances in the marketplace. Many people put lights out at their cottages (or homes) so the coast is lit up for the night.
One day I went on a walk by the coast with my host family and visited Harrbåda lighthouse.
I visited a couple cute cafes on the coast with my Rotary Counselor.

TANKAR
I went on a field trip to Tankar with some students doing a week long exchange with a city in China. We went on a boat out to the island where we saw the old lighthouse and church there.
KRONOBY
While driving around my host family and I stopped one day at Restaurant Hästöskatan, a seaside restaurant with a beautiful view.
KALAJOKI
I went on a school field trip with the kids in the first year of gymnasium to Pakka Adventure Park, where we climbed and swung across bridges and ziplines in a series of course strung between trees.
SEINÄJOKI
I visited Seinäjoki a couple times with my host family and to visit friends there.
I saw the Cross of the Plains church and bell tower designed by Alvar Aalto.
The Seinäjoki Public Library was also designed by Alvar Aalto.
JYVÄSKYLÄ
I visited Jyväskylä with my host mom and neighbors to help move our neighbor into the University of Jyväskylä.
We also visited the Panda Factory Outlet to buy some Panda candy.

Finnhorseback riding in East Lapland
Horseback riding is becoming more popular in Lapland. It is fun and an excellent way to experience Arctic nature at any time of the year. The experience become more memorable, if it is done with local Finnhorses. The Finnhorse or Finnish Horse is a horse breed with both riding and draught horse characteristics, and is the only breed developed in Finland. The Finnhorse celebrated its 110th anniversary of its breeding in 2017. To make sure that the experience is good for both the visitors and the horses, horse stables have to take well-care of their horses. Off-Piste Adventures in Kemijärvi is one of the companies participating in the project Animals and Responsible Tourism which aims to support animal welfare monitoring practices in Lapland tourism.

HOW TO GET THERE?
From Helsinki Central Railway Station you will get there easily with tram (light trail) number 10. Tram starts at west side of the Railway Station other side the Sokos Department Store. Ask the driver to tell you when to get off from the tram.
