Brugge railway station officially Brugge, is the main railway station in Bruges, West Flanders, Belgium. The station opened on 12 August 1838 on railway lines 50A, 51 and 66. The current building has been in use since 1939. The station is one of the busiest in Belgium. Train services are operated by the National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS/SNCB).

Roeselare (Belgium)
This industrial city in West Flanders came through a revival in the 19th century with the completion of the Roeselare-Leie Canal.
In the decades that followed, Roeselare would be described as the Manchester of Belgium, and has a port on the canal still bustling with activity.
In 1875 a young Albrecht Rodenbach, who later became an important poet, led a protest against the use of French in education at the city’s Klein Seminarie (minor seminary), spearheading the Flemish Groote Stooringe student revolt.
This was a big step in the “Dutchization” of Flemish secondary education.

De vredesmolen
The Vredesmolen (also Old mill, Van Couillie's mill or Afgeschoten mill) is a former windmill in the Belgian village of Klerken (Houthulst). The former wooden grain and oil mill is located at the highest point of the village (43 meters) and was therefore used by the Germans as a lookout post during the First World War. During the final offensive it was captured by the Allies, but the Germans had already left the mill via an underground passage. The mill is a rare example of a ruined mill and became a protected monument on April 1, 1999. On the same date it also got its official name Peace Mill.

In dit filmpje geven we een blik op de ecologische rol van de spoorwegsector. De spoorwegen vormen de ruggengraat van een duurzaam transportsysteem. Onze ecologische inspanningen hebben al heel wat impact gehad. Zo daalde energieconsumptie voor reizigers- en goederenvervoer significant tussen 1990 en 2012.
CO2 emissies daalden met 35% voor reizigervervoer
en 43% voor goederenvervoer. En we hebben de doelstelling van de EU voor 2020 van 10% hernieuwbare energie al ruimschoots overtroffen.
Toch is er nog een lange weg af te leggen...

De feature film van onze Great War tour in juli. Een tocht langs de Ieper Salient en het slagveld van de Somme met o.a. Tyne cot cemetery, Memorial Museum Passchendaele 1917, Thiepval Memorial en Lochnagar Crater.
De gebruikte tekst in de film komt uit het gedicht In Flanders Fields, geschreven door Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae in mei 1915:
