Tenshochi ( Kitakami City )
Tenshochi, a municipal park in Kitakami, is located by the Kitakami River and renowned as one of the Three Best Cherry-Viewing Spots in Michinoku, along with Hirosaki in Aomori and Kakunodate in Akita. In 1990, it was also selected as one of the 100 Best Cherry-Viewing Spots by the Japan Cherry Blossom Association. There are about 10,000 cherry trees and 100,000 azaleas in the 29,300-m² park. Starting at the Sangobashi Bridge, there is a promenade along the river lined with someiyoshino cherry trees over 80 years old, which bloom around mid- to late April. Yamazakura and kasumizakura cherry trees on the surrounding hills come into bloom a little after the someiyoshino
The Kitakami Tenshochi Cherry Blossom Festival is held annually from April to May. In addition to cherry blossoms, you can enjoy an excursion boat ride, a carriage ride, and the view of colorful koinobori, or carp streamers, fluttering in the wind over the Kitakami River. 「角館」や「北上展勝地」など、北日本（東北地方）の絶景お花見スポットを9ヶ所ご紹介します！
八郎潟（はちろうがた）は湖ですが、もともと国内２位の面積を誇った湖の大部分が干拓によって陸地化されました。その広大な八郎潟の干拓地を貫く直線の長い道があり、春にはその道の両側に菜の花畑と桜並木がどこまでも続く風景を楽しめます。
浜館公園（はまだてこうえん）は、日本海と鳥海山を展望できる抜群のロケーションに、桜の森が広がる隠れた桜名所です。
真人公園（まとこうえん）は、真人山をバックに池や広場が整備された公園で、「日本さくら名所100選」に選定された桜名所です。
角館（かくのだて）は、「みちのく三大桜名所」の一つで、武家屋敷通りに咲きそろう巨大なしだれ桜群と、武家屋敷通りのすぐ近くを流れる桧木内川堤の桜並木の二つの見所があります。
北上展勝地（きたかみてんしょうち）も、「みちのく三大桜名所」の一つで、北上川の東岸の堤に国内随一の桜並木が見られます。北上川を行く遊覧船も風情がありますし、川の両岸をまたいで多数の鯉のぼりが風に泳ぐ様も素晴らしいです。
高松公園（たかまつこうえん）は、「高松の池」の周囲に桜並木が続く桜名所で、「日本さくら名所100選」に選定されています。雄大な岩手山も展望でき、「高松の池」の奥にある「芝水園（しすいえん）」という釣堀公園もオススメで、のんびりとお花見を楽しむことができます。
芦野公園（あしのこうえん）は、津軽半島のつけ根にある公園で、「日本さくら名所100選」に選定された桜名所です。人工池に隣接して公園が整備されており、津軽鉄道の列車が敷地を横切って、桜のトンネルを通り過ぎてゆくシーンも印象的です。
岩木山（いわきさん）は、弘前市の西方にそびえる山で、その山麓にはリンゴ園など、のどかな田園風景が広がっています。桜を追いかけるようにリンゴの白い花も咲き始め、春の風物詩となっています。

Takamatsu Park is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot with rows of cherry trees around the Takamatsu Pond, and is selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. You can also enjoy a view of the majestic Mt. Iwate, and the fishpond park called Shisuien, located behind Takamatsu Pond, is also recommended for a relaxing cherry blossom viewing experience.
Ashino Park, located at the base of the Tsugaru Peninsula, is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. The park is located next to an artificial pond, and the scene of a Tsugaru Railway train crossing the park and passing through a tunnel of cherry blossoms is impressive.
Iwaki-san is a mountain that rises to the west of Hirosaki City, and at the foot of the mountain is a peaceful countryside with apple orchards. Kitakami Michinoku Geino Festival ( Perfoming Arts Festival ) ( Kitakami City )
This is a festival in which over 100 groups from in and out of Iwate perform a variety of traditional art forms, such as Oni Kenbai ( national important intangible cultural property ) , Shishi-Odori, and kagura. It is also a great opportunity to hear various traditional Japanese instruments live, which accompany the dances. You will find that the instruments produce a wide range of expressive sounds, from melancholic to passionate. You may find an instrument you have never seen before. The music, the dances, and the costumes all embody the soul of Japan. The festival is definitely worth a visit, since there are not many other occasions where you can enjoy so many types of traditional performances. The festival is held for three days, starting on the 1st Saturday of August.

Hey guys! I filmed this video back in 2018 and never got around to posting it on my main channel. Daniel and I visited Japan in late April/early May in 2018 and thought we had missed the cherry blossoms, but we discovered that the further north you travel, the later they bloom! We found these cherry blossoms in early May in Kitakami and Hirosaki. I highly recommend seeing cherry blossoms in the north of Honshu (the main island) as there are far less tourists in this area than there are in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Have you seen sakura in Japan?
