Nova Scotia Road Trip - 10 Days from Halifax to Cape Breton and Back

There's no vacation like a @NovaScotiaTourism vacation, and for 10 days my family and I drove from Halifax to Cape Breton, and back again, exploring some of the best the province has to offer. It was the best road trip I've ever taken.

Watch our road trip from Halifax, to Peggy's Cove, and on to Inverness, Baddeck, Chéticamp, Ingonish, Sydney, Louisbourg, and back to Halifax.

A tremendous thank-you to our partners for the trip: Tourism Nova Scotia, @DiscoverHalifax, @CBTourism, @parkscanada, The Halliburton Hotel, Keltic Lodge, Inverary Resort, the Glenora Distillery, and Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

A day in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

A day trip to Sydney on Cape Breton in Nova Scotia is sure to be a memorable adventure, with every stop on the itinerary being a unique experience and a destination to remember. Home to about 30,000 people, Sydney is a popular port of call on North Atlantic cruises and the city transforms on those days – there's so much dynamics around the downtown, restaurants are booked with waiting lines, souvenir shops run out of maple syrup and all that jazz.
Sydney is convenient to base your Cape Breton adventures from, due to the size of the island it is easy to run several day trips from Sydney to different destinations. And of course Cabot Trail is right nearby, Cabot Trail is a magnificent scenic route showing Cape Breton in all its minimalistic northern beauty. I hope this video will help you get the look and feel of Sydney! Thanks for watching.

TRURO NOVA SCOTIA - Day Trip with Food, Drink and a Town Park

I had a fantastic time in Truro, it is well worth a day trip!

Located in the Municipality of Colchester, Truro is only an hour from Halifax and there's enough to keep you busy for a day trip or the weekend.

Truro Brewing Company is a female owned craft brewery that opened in February and has a fantastic spot downtown with 5 beers on tap to make for the perfect flight.

The friendly staff at Jimolly's Bakery Cafe make fantastic sandwiches with gorgeous bread. If you don't ilke coffee they have a mean chai tea latte and london fog.

Salty Dog Brewing Company has more great beer options on tap for growlers and flights.

A couple doors down is The Nook and Cranny Brew Pub where I tried the Salty Dog Mango Jalapeno beer. The fish and chips were also fantastic.

And Victoria Park, which is reason enough alone to visit Truro is a gorgeous place to spend time.

And if you can go on a Saturday the Truro Farmers Market Cooperative is a great place to start. Besides produce there are lots of great local preserves, baked goods, kombucha, beer, wine, mead, cheese and more.

I'm planning to head back to Truro this winter, what do you think I should add to this list?

I'm a Canadian travel blogger at home for the summer and autumn. But I'm making the most of my time by traveling Atlantic Canada.

Driving Tour Of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada | Dash Cam Footage

A driving tour of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada. Dash cam footage recorded on July 13, 2021 in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Canada. Video production by Tom's Alternative Lawn Ornaments.

Kentville is a town in Kings County, Nova Scotia. It is one of the main towns in the Annapolis Valley, and it is the county seat of Kings County. As of 2016, the town's population was 6,271. Its census agglomeration is 26,222.

Kentville owes its location to the Cornwallis River which downstream from Kentville becomes a large tidal river. The riverbank at the future location of Kentville provided as easy fording point. The Mi'kmaq name for the location was Penooek. The ford and later the bridge at Kentville made the settlement an important crossroads for settlements in the Annapolis Valley. Kentville also marked the limit of navigation of sailing ships.

The area was first settled by Acadians, who built many dykes along the river to keep the high Bay of Fundy tides out of their farmland. These dykes created the ideal fertile soil that the Annapolis Valley is known for. The Acadians were expelled from the area in the Bay of Fundy Campaign (1755) by the British authorities because they would not swear allegiance to the British King. The area was then settled by New England Planters. Settlement was expedited by the United Empire Loyalists during the American Revolution.

The town was originally known as Horton's Corner, but was named Kentville in 1826 after Prince Edward Augustus, Duke of Kent (son of King George III and father of Queen Victoria), who resided in Nova Scotia from 1794 to 1800. The village was at first relatively small and dwarfed by larger valley towns with better harbours such as Canning and Wolfville. The crossroads location did attract early shopkeepers and several stagecoach inns. Small schooners were able to land cargos in the Klondyke neighbourhood by the Cornwallis River which marked the height of navigation. Kentville developed a reputation for rowdy drinking and horse races in the early 19th century, earning the nickname the Devil's half acre.
