国道352号は、新潟県柏崎市から福島県会津地方を経て栃木県上三川町に至る、総延長331kmの一般国道です。新潟県長岡市内に自動車交通不能区間（いわゆる「点線国道」）があり、また新潟・福島の県境区間は「樹海ライン」の愛称がある狭隘区間で、日本有数の”酷道”として知られています。
今回は、この波乱万丈な路線を、起点から長岡市郊外の車が入れる場所までの区間を収録しました。長時間の収録となったため2回に分けてアップしていきます。
ひたすら山奥を走る”山岳国道”のイメージが強い本路線ですが、起点の柏崎市から出雲崎町までの区間は日本海の海岸沿いを進んでいきます。この柏崎市は海水浴のメッカであり、42kmの海岸線に15ヶ所もの海水浴場があります。本路線沿いにも高浜海岸や石地海岸などに海水浴場があり、遠浅の広大なビーチが人気を集めシーズンには家族連れなどで賑わいます。
このルートは古くは北国街道が走り、京の都から越後に至る幹線道路として重要な役割を果たしてきました。現在は国道として改良が進み、全区間2車線の快走路となっています。

The Only Place in Japan Where You Can Drive on the Beach!
In Ishikawa Prefecture, just outside the capital city of Kanazawa, is the Noto Satoyama Highway, a coastal road that follows the sea of Japan to the Noto Peninsula. This highway takes you to the Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, the only spot in Japan where cars can drive on the beach. It's a beautiful spot, and driving your car on the beach makes the experience that much more fun. If you don't have a car of your own, there seems to be a taxi service that can take you for the drive.
