Our visit Nikko travel guide covers some of the top attractions including a food guide, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting mountains, waterfalls, temples, shrines and lakes. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Nikko tourism brochure, Nikko itinerary or Nikko, Japan tour.

10 Things to do in Nikko Tour | Japan Travel Guide Video Transcript:

After a month in Tokyo, Nikko was everything we were hoping for! We knew we were in for a treat on the train ride over once we started seeing forests and mountains all around us and the town did not disappoint.

Nikko was the breath of fresh air we were looking for; during our visit we hiked through shrines and temples, cruised a beautiful lake at the base of a volcano, sampled some local dishes featuring tofu skin, and basically had the perfect city break.

So in this travel guide, we are going sharing some of our favourite things to do in Nikko, so you too can plan your weekend escape!

The Shinkyo Bridge you see today was constructed in 1636, but a bridge of some form has stood on this very same spot for much longer...even if its origins are a bit unclear.

Nikko is home to numerous Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. We focused our visit on the Toshogu Shrine.

Now for a quick history lesson; the Toshogu shrine is the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. This was Japan’s last feudal military government, with the shogun as its leader.

Kegon is Nikko’s most famous waterfall. It stands almost 100 meters tall and the waters that feed it comes directly from Lake Chuzenji.

We were feeling pretty hungry after all that sightseeing, so we decided to find a restaurant serving up the local specialty: yuba! Or tofu skin.

I ordered the ramen with yuba and Sam got the udon with yuba. The tofu skin was fluffy and absorbed all the flavours of the miso.

Lake Chuzenji is located at the foot of Mount Nantai. We cruised around the lake for a bit, but then got off at one of the early stops to continue onwards to Yumoto Onsen.

Yumoto is a small hot springs town that is located in part of Nikko National Park. We then enjoyed a little walk along Lake Yunoko, before hopping back on a bus to Senjougahara Moor.

The Senjogahara Marshland covers the area between Lake Chuzenji and Yumoto Onsen. It offers some great hiking opportunities within Nikko National Park.

And that’s a wrap for our Nikko travel guide! This proved to be the perfect weekend escape from Tokyo. We visited everything you see here over the course of 2 days, but this place is even better if you can come for 3 or 4 nights. Nature abounds, there are countless shrines and temples to visit, plus the local cuisine was exquisite! Now you have a few ideas of things to do around Nikko when you visit. Wishing you happy travels and see you next time!

This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese cuisine.

Trip from Tokyo to NIKKO, JAPAN | Places to Visit, What to Eat & Ryokan Stay ????????????

Taking you with me on a 2-day healing trip to Nikko, Japan, a small city in the mountains located 144 kilometres up north of Tokyo, and is home to some of Japan’s most enchanting nature trails, waterfalls, hot springs, zen gardens and shrines.

The fact that Nikko is located further up north means that Autumn begins earlier here. We'll start to see Autumn foliage since mid-October, making Nikko a scenic place to visit during this time. One of the biggest highlights of this town are The Shrines and Temples of Nikkō, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it comprises of 103 buildings or structures and the natural scenery that is around it. Toshogu Shrine was undeniably one of the most lavishly decorated shrines I have ever come across in Japan, from its wooden carvings, vibrant colours and hints of gold.

Although what I've filmed would not be able to capture the true beauty of this town fully, in this vlog, I hope to show you some things to do/places to visit/eat in Nikko (not only in Autumn, but throughout the whole year), as well as places to view the beautiful Autumn Foliage. I hope you enjoy this vlog as much as I enjoyed editing it! ???? Hope this will be able to act as a travel guide for you if you are deciding on going on a weekend trip or day trip near from Tokyo :)

【Ferry Trip Japan】Tokyo Bay Ferry : Kanaya, Chiba - Kurihama, Kanagawa(船旅 東京湾フェリー)[4K]

The Tokyo Bay Ferry (Tokyo-Wan Ferry) links port of Kurihama in Yokosuka city, Kanagawa to port of Kanaya in Futtsu city, Chiba. The trip takes only 40 minutes one way and is a pleasant way to cross to bay. The car ferry began operation in 1957 and provides not only a great service for skipping the traffic and time it would take to cross the bay, but also a new perspective of Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa by sea.

There is 1 service per 50 to 70 minutes, depending on seasons.

[Japan Travel] Izumo Taisha Shrine Izumo Soba Kanaya Inasa Beach Izumo Hinomisaki Lighthouse 出雲大社

Izumo Taisha is a shrine that represents Japan. It is worth visiting Izumo City just to visit Izumo Taisha. Izumo Taisha can be said to be the symbol of Izumo, the home of mythology. The majestic atmosphere of thousands of years of history will make you stretch your spine. First, let's enter the approach from the large torii of the main gate, Seidamari. As you proceed, you can enjoy the pine trees that have been selected as one of Japan's 100 best pine trees. In addition, there is a large shimenawa rope in front of the Kaguraden, and you will be overwhelmed by its power. When visiting Izumo Taisha, it is recommended that you bow twice, clap your hands, and bow once.

I came to Izumo City with the cheapest Novinobi seat of Sunrise Izumo.
We were blessed with good weather and it was a great trip. This time Izumo city sightseeing will be the main.

KYUSHU ISLAND: Top 13 Food Treats to Try • ENGLISH • The Poor Traveler in Japan

Kyushu Island has brought a lot to the nation’s dining table. After all, it is here that ramen — Japan’s globally celebrated comfort food — was born. And while the rest of the country doesn’t have a strong street food culture, it is definitely alive and kicking in Fukuoka. Other prefectures have their own signature dishes — from Hita City’s own take on the yakisoba to Nagasaki’s foreign-influenced delicacies.

In this video, we’ll show you around Kyushu Island and give you a taste of some of the food delights that you shouldn’t miss in this part of Japan! But in this batch, we’ll cover only those in the northern half of the island.

This video was shot before the COVID-19 pandemic. Now may not be a good time to travel but it's always a great time to plan a trip! But note that costs, hours and availability might have changed due to the pandemic, so contact the respective establishment directly for more updated info.

There are many hot spring resorts in Tochigi where you can enjoy both hot springs and sightseeing, and we are pleased to present the 10 Best Places to Stay.
It is difficult to compare the rates because they vary, but I chose inns based on their satisfaction compared to the rates.
I would like to introduce you to a hotel where I had a pleasant stay with a good balance of facilities, hot springs, cuisine, and customer service.

The order of the videos is from cheapest to most expensive.
Also, please check inn's official website for the latest information,

I hope this will be helpful in selecting a hot spring hotel.
