Narita is a city on the eastern outskirts of Tokyo, Japan. It's home to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport.
In Narita's center is the centuries-old Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, a Buddhist complex with gilded pagodas and tranquil gardens. Running between Narita train station and the temple is Omotesando, a narrow street lined with colorful shops and restaurants in the style of Japan's Edo period.

10 things to do near NARITA AIRPORT ✈️ (Japan travel guide)
Today’s video is going to be a list of things you could do near NARITA AIRPORT????
Did you know that you can enjoy traditional Japan just a 10-minute train ride away from Narita airport?
Narita station is just one station away from Narita Airport Terminal 2, and there are so many things to see, eat and explore!
Here are 10 ways to spend your layover or spare time before/after your flight!

00:20 ✅ Explore NARITASAN OMOTESANDO
- Here’s a street that lasts about 800m with over 150 restaurants and souvenir shops. It prospers as a temple town from the Edo era, and you can see some of the remains from that time.
01:25 ✅ Try the delicious YAKI DANGO!
- Japanese dango are round glutinous rice flour (mochiko) dumplings that are served with a bamboo stick. On each skewer, there are typically three dango balls. We tried this Yaki Dango with miso sauce and it was so good! Price was ¥400.
02:01 ✅ Eat different STREET FOOD like this lamb skewers.
- There are a lot more types of street food you can find, especially when there are special traditional Japanese events. On this day we had this lamb skewers for ¥450.
03:19 ✅ Try their specialty UNAGI (freshwater eel).
- Narita is home to Lake Inbanuma, the Tone River, and Naganuma, where once upon a time people could catch freshwater fish such as Unagi. It’s usually pricey, but you could also try the skewers for only ¥350.
04:41 ✅ Visit the NARITASAN SHINSHOJI TEMPLE and the 3-storied pagoda.
- Naritasan Shinshoji Temple is a large and highly popular Buddhist temple complex in Narita. Admission is free, and you can also enjoy the beautiful pagoda.
07:33 ✅ Draw an OMIKUJI and find out your fortune.
- These are random fortunes written on strips of paper, which are usually received by making a small offering (usually ¥100) and randomly choosing one from a box, hoping for the resulting fortune to be good. We got “uncertain luck” this time ????
08:45 ✅ Stroll around NARITASAN PARK.
- It’s a large garden of 165,000sqm using the hilly land behind the Main Hall of Shinsho-ji Temple completed in 1928. There’s a lovely pond with koi too.
10:43 ✅ Visit the GREAT PEACE PAGODA.
- Also known as “Heiwa no Daito” is a 58m-tall structure that was built in 1984. You could visit the museum on the ground level too.
12:39 ✅ Try the sweet CANDY APPLE.
- Candied apples, ringo ame in Japanese, is a popular treat which you will always find at Japanese festivals. We were lucky to find a stall in Naritasan and the price was ¥300 for the small one.
13:46 ✅ Eat at ISOMARU SUISAN in front of Narita station.
- Before riding the train home, we had dinner at this restaurant located just in front of the station. If you love seafood, here’s the place to go! We got grilled squid, sashimi/seafood bowl for reasonable prices.

Naritasan is a 1 hour and 20 minute train ride from Tokyo Station, but only a 10 minute train ride from Narita Airport.
And there are many great places for street food there.
This Narita Street Food Tour will introduce you to 10 of them.

Here is a video of us doing some Narita Airport shopping in Terminal 2. In this video I'll share with you the top 10 things to buy at Narita Airport, including those Japanese kit kats and other only in japan merch. If you are wondering what are the best Japanese souvenirs to buy, I'll give you my two cents in this video. In addition to shopping, there are some cool places that you should check out, including the kids parks or kids play areas, which are free, the Toto Toilet gallery and the capsule hotel (which I didn't get to check out). Incase you are wondering, we were in Terminal 2, and I will show you what you can find both before check in and after check in.

Japanese Street Food Tour by Narita Airport at Naritasan Shinshoji ( Narita Omotesando). This local near tokyo street food tour is very different than many of the street food spots that I've shown as many of the shops and restaurants here still have an Edo period feel. It’s only about a 10 minute train ride from Narita Airport so you can come here if you’re on a layover or just in the area. After you get off at Narita station, there’s a 800m long omotesando shopping street, sando for short, that leads directly to the Narita san Shinshoji Temple which dates back more than 1000 years. This area flourished during the Edo period and you can still see some of that influence today. These are my favorite and best Japanese street food spots in this area.

茨城県那珂市。肥沃な大地に生い茂る緑、それと共に生きる人の力。遥かなる時の中で築き上げて来た両者の調和がこの街の豊かさの源です。旅行者は清水洞の上公園を歩き、竹の子を掘っていた地元の人に出会い、そこで採れた竹の子のたくましさに旅行者はその自然の豊かさを肌で感じます。古き良き日本の住宅、「曲がり屋」で地元の人達とふれあった旅行者が次の目的地へ向かって歩いていると、昔のバスを改造して作られた秘密基地の様な場所にたどり着き、旅行者の子供心を蘇らせます。その後、樹齢役800年のシイの木が立つ三嶋神社を参拝し、愛らしいフクロウのマークで知られた常陸野ネストビールの醸造所を見学。そこから少し離れた販売所にてビールのテイスティングを楽しんだ後は、八重桜が咲き誇る静峰ふるさと公園へ。日が沈み、辺りが暗くなってくると、公園内に設置されていた沢山のキャンドルとカラフルなライトに明かりが灯り、公園に幻想的な雰囲気を宿らせます。その明かりの中で旅行者は、その日の旅を振り返り、自然と人の力が生み出す可能性に想いを馳せます。

The Historical Lagoon City | ITAKO 茨城県潮来市 | JAPAN 4K CINEMATIC TRAVEL VLOG
Itako which is located in Ibaraki prefecture is a small town known for its canals and popular iris festival. This town has flourished as a distribution point which connects the capital Edo(present Tokyo) with Tohoku(north area of Japan) since the Edo period(the Year 1603-1868).
Recently, I went on a two days trip to this town as a project with Itako City(local government office) and Stayway(travel tech company). To be honest, I was not familiar with this town at all before but was really amazed by this historical lagoon city through this trip.
This town surrounded by nature lets you contact with living things, experience unique activities such as a traditional hand boat ride, and also have elaborate local dishes. Also, you can learn Japanese history in the old shrines and temples like the Cho-shoji temple. Moreover, what makes you attracted the most is the warmth of the local people. It was the off-season, but all these experiences made me wanna come back here in June and join in the popular “Suigo Itako Iris Festival”

関東が誇る水郷の街、茨城県潮来市。
江戸と東北地方を結ぶ物流拠点として、江戸時代から発展してきた場所です。
先日、潮来市役所の皆様、及び旅行メディアStayway様とのプロジェクトとして、1泊2日で潮来市を観光してきました。
今回のオファーを頂く前まではあまり馴染みのない場所でしたが、今回の旅を通じて、この歴史的な水郷の町、潮来の素晴らしさに魅了されました。
霞ヶ浦や北浦などの水辺に囲まれたこの町では、生き物と触れ合い、昔ながらのろ舟など貴重な体験ができたり、こだわりの郷土料理を楽しんだり。長勝寺のような古い神社仏閣で、日本の歴史を改めて学びなおしたり。そしてなんといっても一番の魅力は地元の方々の温かさ。

A Tour of Historic Flower Spots in Suigo Itako Ayame Garden, Ibaraki, Japan/Children’s Day 2023
Suigo Itako Ayame Garden is one of the places where you can observe traditional Japanese festivals. A total of 500 varieties of Irises which they call “Ayame” bloom along the canals and bridges of Itako. The historic festival is held every year from late May to late June. The visitors can enjoy brides ride on a Wedding Boat as well as hand-paddled Robbie Pleasure Boats. In addition to irises, other seasonal flowers such as wisterias, cherry blossoms, azaleas and hydrangeas can be enjoyed as well.
When I went there in mid-April, the people were busy tending the Iris flower beds and preparing for the Children’s Day Festival. The Carp streamers were a beautiful sight as they flutter in the wind.

Filmed 3 best spots for Hydrangea viewing in Tokyo, Japan. ”Hakusan Shrine” in Bunkyo Ward, ”Rikugien,” a famous Japanese garden in the same Ward, and” Asukayama Park (Asuka no Komichi) ”in Kita Ward. Hydrangeas fully bloom in June and early July, which is the rainy season in Japan. Raindrops make the flowers look more beautiful.
”Hakusan shrine“ in the Bunkyo ward is located near Metro Hakusan Station and was initially found in the 10th century, which is modest but has a long history. 3000 Hydrangeas are planted in its precinct and in Hakusan Park, which is located behind the shrine. Since the date I filmed this video was at almost the end of the flower season here, I could only find the part of them in the park, not in the precinct.
”Rikugien” in Bunkyo Ward is located near Metro and JR Komagome Station. This is a famous Japanese Daimyo (feudal lord) Garden, which was constructed in Edo (1603-1868) period in 1702 by Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa, a favorite of 5th Shogun, Tsunayoshi Tokugawa. 15 species of 1000 hydrangeas are planted there.
The last destination is ”Asuka no Komichi, which is located beside Asukayama Park” in Kita Ward. The closest station is JR or Metro Oji Station. This is a public park built in the early 18th century by 8th Shogun, Yoshimune Tokugawa, as the enjoyment place for cherry blossoms viewing. Every spring, the cherry trees still entertain visitors. And June is the season for hydrangeas.
