Passendale (Passchendaele), Belgium today

Passchendaele as a word has become in the English language synonymous with mud and an unending swamp through which men fought in 1917, forgetting that it is also the town of Passendale in Belgium. Strangely enough, whereas the spelling Passchendaele is obsolete in Belgium, it has been retained in English. This is because during the First World War, the French language spelling of towns was that which was used everywhere throughout Belgium. Passendale is located to the east of Ypres and is noted for its part in the Third Battle of Ypres in 1917, although there was also a battle there in October 1914 when it was captured by the Kaiser’s army.
To visit the town, I left my motorhome next to the New British Cemetery although I appreciate that not everyone wants to sleep next to a cemetery. For those who do not want to do this, off street parking is no problem.
Passendale is located on a ridge which today is not particularly obvious because of the vegetation, however one can stand at the highest point of the town and imagine what it was like with the vegetation and buildings destroyed and when this ridge controlled the countryside around.
We can find various war cemeteries in and around Passendale. Tyne Cot Cemetery is the largest Commonwealth cemetery in the world (you can see this in another film).
Passendale is a farming community. One of its specialities is a cheese for which a festival is held every August. Another product is the Passchendaele beer which you can see advertisements for in the film. It is brewed by the Van Honsebrouck brewery in Ingelmunster which is around 10km further to the east.

Op verkenning: het Koning Boudewijnpark in Jette
Het Koning Boudewijnpark is een park gelegen ten noordwesten van de stad Brussel in de gemeenten Jette en Ganshoren. Het is een wijkpark met een recreatieve functie in de Molenbeekvallei. Het park bestaat uit drie delen van waar wij een bezoek brengen aan het eerste gedeelte. De eerste fase werd gerealiseerd in het jaar 1981. Dit deel van het park omvat de Heilig-Harttuin en werd uitgebreid met het laagst gelegen deel van de Molenbeekvallei. Het gaat om een klassiek landschapspark. De aanwezige vijver is het laatste overblijfsel van de visvijver van de watermolen van de Abdij van Dielegem.
Le parc Roi Baudouin est un parc public belge situé au nord-ouest de Bruxelles dans les communes de Jette et Ganshoren. Situé sur 100 hectares, le parc est composé de zones boisées, marécageuses ainsi que d’étendues d’eau. Il est nommé en l’honneur de Baudouin de Belgique. Il est composé de plusieurs parties ou phases correspondant à des types d’aménagement particuliers. Nous visiterons le phase I. C'est un parc classique caracterisé par une alternance de pelouses, des massifs horticoles et des bois. L'étang est le dernier vestige de l'étang à poissons du moulin à eau de l'abbaye de Dielegem.

A long day on the road today, as I traveled some 550KM or 344M, all the way to the South of Belgium, to a village called Ingelmunster. On the way back I visited a customer in Gent.

Het verlaten waterpark van Hue in Vietnam
De Reismeisjes zijn in Hue, Vietnam. Verborgen in de jungle ligt een enorm verlaten waterpark. De bouw van het waterpark is in 2004 na een investering van drie miljoen dollar gestaakt. Nu is het vooral geschikt voor een lekker dagje griezelen.

Filmed at Woodford Folk Festival 28/12/2001 when I was a video tutor for the QUT Music dept video production team. Good lighting with a great tripod and a solid ball head almost made it film itself. Filmed on a Sony Digital Hi8 Handycam so the sound is direct to camera, but not too bad considering the off-center placement and closeness to monitors/speakers.
Digitised via an IOData USB2 using S-Video I/O direct into OBS 64-bit, deinterlaced on the fly, into a 14gb mp4 file then uploaded direct to youtube. No editing.

Welcome to part 4 of my trip to catch the Korean Air Boeing 777-200ER europe run! After a short night in Switzerland I had to go home! As my trip to Vienna, I took another Star Alliance combo. The first leg would be with SWISS European to Munich logging the Avro 100 which is a nice addition to the log

It was great flying SWISS European again. It was also a pleasure to fly the Avro 100 as most airlines are retiring them in 2017. Im surprised how good they could keep those planes maintained. Service was good and crew was one of the friendliest in the weekend. Zurich and Munich airports are very easy to navigate trough as well.

Having flewn many short Lufthansa flights this was pretty much your average Lufthansa flight. Good snack and a consitent service! Just the boarding process in Munich was quite disorganized due to a late arrival of a wheelchair pax! I'm sure ground staff knew about this so they could have easy hold us in the airport iso the bus. Concerning the mechanical problem and our delay Lufthansa did their best to keep us informed about the progress
