For today's Korean travel adventure, we visit the beautiful town of Hwasun in Jeollanam-do. From a chance meeting with a local carpenter and master totem maker to a countryside gallery celebrating the artistic heritage of the region, we transport you into the heart of Korean culture. We also enjoy the blooming flowers of spring, walk along the river and old train tracks in Dongmyeon, and discover some stunning murals scattered across the walls of residents. We end up at a glorious shrine and despite some wild disturbances, make our way to the top for some amazing views of the area.

TOP 5 BEST Things To Do On Jeju Island 2023 | South Korea Travel Vlog
Wow Jeju Island was one the most fun parts of my South Korea and Japan trip so in this video, I review the top 5 things to do (in my opinion) on Jeju Island from our recent 2023 adventure.
These are of course my opinion and I will make a longer video but I wanted to go over what I thought would be best if you're planning a short itinerary in Jeju Island.
Just something to note, a lot of the activities will require a car to get to so don't forget to hire one. I also divided the activities up into categories including best park, museum and more.

Haeinsa is a head temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Seon Buddhism in Gayasan National Park, South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. Haeinsa is most notable for being the home of the Tripitaka Koreana, the whole of the Buddhist Scriptures carved onto 81,350 wooden printing blocks, which it has housed since 1398.

Hwaseong Fortress - UNESCO World Heritage Site
Hwaseong Fortress is an impressive and beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the city of Suwon, South Korea, it was designed as an emergency backup palace in the 18th century by King Jeongjo. Although most of the palace has since been destroyed and replaced with modern replica buildings, the walls, gates and towers are all original and ripe for exploring. Let's check it out!

Surrounded by the wonderful wilderness of Kaya Mountain is one of the most beautiful temple complexes in South Korea, the Haeinsa Temple. Indeed, the unique value of the Haeinsa Temple and its many treasures has now been recognised by UNESCO who have designated it as a World Heritage Sight.The most precious treasure of the sanctuary is located in a special section of the complex. The Tripitaka Koreana is the largest, oldest and most well preserved collection of Buddhist text in the whole of East Asia and for several centuries its eighty thousand wooden printing plates have been stored in the temple complex. Traditional drum ceremonies play an important part in the daily life of Haeinsa’s religious community and it is more than likely that the resonance of the drums will always fill the most famous Buddhist sanctuary in South Korea with their historic sounds.

Hwasun is a much more quiet part of Jeju Island. There has been a lot of slow construction going on in Hwasun for the past two years. Hawsun is a beautiful part of Jeju Island and an area I love. It's nice to enjoy a beach to yourself instead of having a ton of tourists on the same beach. The hidden coves in Hwasun are a great place to relax and snorkel in. We didn't see too many fish that day, but as the weather warms up a lot more fish should appear in the area. If you're adventurous and like snorkeling, I would suggest checking this area out!

After spending the time at the buddhist temple and full educational journey with monk we were heading to another temple through this amazing and historic country
Bullets & Boulders in Hwasun, South Korea
In Hwasun County, South Korea, we visit a tiny village with an unsettling monument dedicated to the “eradication of communism” (멸공). Two friendly dogs act as our chaperones as we dig up clues to the site’s origins. Following this, we visit the far more settling Yongam Temple and its eponymous mountain for a climb up to its most jagged peak. Our soundtrack this time is the “Saemaeul Song,” the lyrics of which are credited to none other than former South Korean President Park Chung-hee.
