The Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is back after a 3-year break. One of the festival's main attractions is the Indoor Ice Illumination Plaza, where you can see and interact with over 30 unique and fun ice sculptures.

The hwacheon sancheoneo ice festival tour package was bought from trazy.com.
The venue of the ice festival is in Hwacheon, which situated in Gangwon-do (North East) from Seoul. This place has a very calm atmosphere and surrounding because of the mountains and rivers. The journey took about 2 hours by bus.
The ice fishing took place on a massive river, which has been turned into ice due to the winter season. The organizer had already drilled hundreds of holes for us to ice fishing. There are lots more activities to join here, but other than ice sledding, ice sculpture park, and ice fishing, visitors need to buy separate tickets as it is not included in the admission fee.
This festival only opens starting from early January, maybe because the freezing point of the river is suitable and safe for the activities. The actual date of the festival can be checked at :

Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival
Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is a unique winter festival held in Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, and has been selected as one of the Seven Winter Wonders of the World by CNN in 2011. This winter festival is held when the clean Hwacheoncheon Stream freezes during the coldest winter season and visitors will have opportunities of catching what is nicknamed the queen of valley, sancheoneo (산천어), or trout from ice fishing.
The highlight of Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival is that visitors can enjoy trout that they catch fresh from the frozen stream on the spot. A grandiose grill that can grill up to three hundred fish allows you to enjoy it cooked or you can indulge in some fresh raw trout at the raw fish center.
Visitors can not only go ice fishing but also have fun lure fishing, water fishing, and bare-hand fishing. Younger visitors can spend their time doing exciting activities such as the ice slide, sledding, bobsleigh, figure skating, ice soccer, and curling. Moreover, visitors can mail letters to Santa Claus at Hwacheon Santa Post Office that has been approved by Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi and try making some trout-shaped lamps at Sancheoneo Atelier.

Hwacheon City is well known as Water World, located north-eastern part of South Korea. It's about two hours' distance from Seoul by car.

Pyeongchang Trout Festival | A Korea Adventure
Bare Handed Fishing!!! We took some time off from skiing to go check out the Pyeonchang Trout Festival earlier this year and I got to partake in the popular spectacle that is Korean bare hand fishing. Me (the only foreigner) and a bunch of strangers got to splash around in a FREEZING pool and chase after trout. It was a whole lot of fun and the trout was truly delicious (smoked on site in a pretty nifty grill thingy). The rest of the festival offered indoor fishing, snow sculptures, igloos, and being pulled around in a tube by a snowmobile. Overall it was a uniquely Korean fishing experience and definitely worth checking out.
