Horezu Vacation Travel Video Guide

Travel video about destination Horezu in Romania.
In the midst of the wooded hills of Oltenia's Carpathian countryside is the Horezu Monastery that was donated by Prince Constantin Brancoveanu. The building was constructed in 1690 to defend the western region of the country and the settlement comprises five churches, a sanctuary for the infirm and various monks' cells.Sculptures of stone and floral motifs decorate the external walls of the monastery's main church. Its wall paintings were created by twelve artists under the direction of Masters Constantinos and Ioan between 1692 and 1702 and represent the beginning of the Brancoveanu Style. The library, the Princes' House that today contains the monastery's art collection, the Refectorium with its old paintings, and finally the Treasury that contains icons and precious silver objects that date back to the Brancoveanu period, are each extremely valuable. The Brancoveanu style first gained recognition as early as the 18th century. It soon spread throughout Walachia and Transylvania. Thanks to the refined art of this time, the Horezu Monastery has been designated as a World Heritage.

ENG “The Horezu Monastery or Hurezi Monastery was founded in 1690 by Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu in the town of Horezu, Wallachia, Romania. The Brâncovenesc style, which can be found at several other churches and monasteries in Wallachia, is the only true and original Romanian style and is called Brancoveanu art by the name of the ruler who, in a period of constant battles between the world powers of that time, put cultural development of the country above everything and made it the goal of his life.

Sibiu. A city with narrow and multicolored streets, places steeped in history and very welcoming people. We are at the very heart of Romania, in Transylvania, in a multicultural area that has always impressed with its varied landscapes. It is no coincidence that the city of Sibiu is one of the best European tourist destinations.

Sibiu, a city with a medieval flavor and one of the most beautiful and cleanest in Romania. Above all, after the installation of a German on the chair of mayor of the city, things started to move in Sibiu; renovation works, an impeccable town centre, illuminated and enhanced facades, increasing number of tourists. Hats off, Mr. Mayor!

Located in the heart of Romania and bathed by the Cibin River, the city of Sibiu charms the traveler with its air of a medieval town that invites you to explore in all seasons. With its air of yesteryear, Sibiu is a veritable open-air museum, with houses dating from 1380 which stand on the edge of the narrow streets, the stairs leading down to the lower town, the imposing Evangelical church whose construction lasted two centuries, at the Grande and Petite Place surrounded by centuries-old buildings.

The German rigor and the Latin spirit, alert, playful, have created in Sibiu an original and picturesque way of life. But Sibiu is also a true cultural center of Romania. It was here that the Transylvanian Association for Romanian Literature and Culture was created in 1861, which took charge of the creation of the Library. An important cultural role also fell to the publication “Tribuna”, initially directed by the great Romanian writer Ioan Slavici.

When we say Sibiu, we also say the Brukenthal Museum, inaugurated in 1817. Directed by Baron Samuel von Brukenthal, the museum today contains not only a remarkable art gallery, but also collections of archaeology, d history, ethnography and natural sciences.

An integral part of the Brukenthal Museum, the History Museum operates in a representative building for Romania and for Transylvania, as it is a large secular Gothic monument. From 1850 to 1948, this building housed the town hall of Sibiu. We changed the decorations to highlight the importance of the time, but, after the revolution of December ’89, we decided to modify the structures. Baron Brukenthal was an enlightened spirit of the Age of Enlightenment and he began to collect all kinds of art objects and paintings from his youth. Part of the collections belong to him. In the meantime, they have been enriched with a number of archaeological objects.

Let’s now head to Dumbrava Sibiului – the Glade of Sibiu, where the Museum of Traditional Civilization of Romania has been created, which houses all kinds of tools and equipment specific to the workshops of the master craftsmen of the region. If you are more of a fan of natural beauty, follow us to the National History Museum which houses a rich collection of zoology and botany.

So, dear friends, as you can see, Sibiu is home to many treasures. It's up to you to come and discover them. Frankly, it's worth it, you have everything: museums, atmosphere, buildings, parks and let's not forget the mountain station of Paltinis, about thirty km away, absolutely fantastic which offers breathtaking panoramas.

Romania - travel and tourism information || the beauty of the heritage sites

Romania is a semi-presidential republic. It is the ninth state in terms of territory (238,397 km²) and the seventh in terms of population (over 20 million inhabitants) among the member states of the European Union. The capital of the country, Bucharest, is also its largest city and the sixth city in the EU by population (1.9 million inhabitants). It was Romania's turn to designate a city as the European Capital of Culture for 2007, Sibiu being chosen and Timișoara being chosen for 2023.
Romania is a state located in the south-east of Central Europe on the lower course of the Danube, north of the Balkan peninsula and on the north-western shore of the Black Sea. Almost the entire surface of the Danube Delta and the southern and central part of the Carpathian Mountains are located on its territory. It borders Bulgaria to the south, Serbia to the southwest, Hungary to the northwest, Ukraine to the north and east, and the Republic of Moldova to the east, and the Black Sea coast is to the southeast.

Discover Romania’s incredible History

Here is the third of four films from our biggest campaign to promote Romania across Europe on BBC World News starting this week and running until 2023. This one focussed on history. The concept is to show the world what a rich and varied history Romania has, that it is not just an ex communist country filled with concrete and lacking a cultural legacy, but being sandwiched between the occident and the orient it’s past is as complex, bloody and intriguing as France, Italy, Spain, Germany or the U.K. We also wanted to show that all the different cultures that exist here, make it more fascinating, more appealing. Maybe in the future we can learn to forgive, to celebrate these differences and leave past grievances behind…for foreign tourists they only make Romania that much richer. Please share, especially with friends and family abroad, so we can show the beauty of this incredible county to a global audience!! ????????????
A huge thank you to all our partners who have collaborated with us to create this - Craiova, Timis County, Brasov, Sibiu, Oradea, Maramures councils and our friends and entrepreneurs from Oltenia. ❤️❤️ #romania #travel #culture #history #craiova #timisoara #brasov #sibiu #oradea #oltenia #transilvania #transylvania #instatravel #insta #instagram #instadaily #instalike #promotingromania #beauty #architecture #gothic #neoclassical

Lacul Balota - Vaideeni
